  1. Check out the website for ISP.   They have set it up nicely so that you can see what is available on what may interest you.   It's been 8 years since I was last there, but the trail walk at the port was a nice short self walk, not really a hike.

There's also a port map on the website as well.  (I've heard some folks enjoy the wildlife & bear search excursion) Good luck!

  2. Question, since I'll be flying into Vancouver and heading straight to the cruise port.  Is it worth doing the transfer, or just pickup a taxi?  there are two of us.  Have plenty of time before ship departs.  Not sure what is around the cruise terminal to explore.

  3. Honestly, the tracking doesn't bother me.   It's not any different than Apple, Google, Facebook or the like.

I'm on of those that turn many of my tracking/location features off, and then recently I lost my phone.  I couldn't track it via my Ipad "find my phone".  I laughed and then....I turned it on (once I found it).

Like many things in the world, we do like features when they benefit us, and don't care for them when they don't.  🙂

Average weather in Juneau from a internet search:

    July: average high 65 F, average low 51 F, rain 4.8 inches

    May: average high 56 F, average low 41 F, rain 3.5 inches

So July warmer but more rain on average.

More rain = more clouds typically......I went in May it was chilly while the ship was moving.

Also, something to consider, smaller ships also mean that they can fit in the channels.

I went on a smaller Celebrity ship during my cruise, and there are some tight spots in the inside inside passage (vs outside inside).

Using independent tour operators is a solid deal.   There are some great ones that do all sorts of things from hiking, whale watching, helicopters, and water planes (which was cool).

    enjoy!

  5. Not sure if this will help ease up on things.   But Amsterdam is a major hub for the EU, so it's really easy to get in and out of the airport and connect to other cities. In the past, I've flown into the airport (Schiphol) and taken the train into the cities.  The train system is fabulous.

So, perhaps look at the ability to stay a couple of days ahead or after separate from the cruise?  Might free up your ability to depart out of other cities?

  6. This is a copy/paste from the terms:

    "

    • Alcoholic drinks are limited to 15 beverages per 24-hour period (6 a.m. to 6 a.m.). Alcoholic drinks requested above the daily limits are at the discretion of the shipboard management and crew and charged at regular menu prices.
    • Non-alcoholic drinks do NOT have this limitation nor do they count toward this maximum.

The cutbacks will continue until cabins go unsold.

Fortunately, there are many cruise lines and many ships to choose from.  Most of them even include chairs/sofas in standard balcony cabins.

And the items that one person finds value in, another may not.

Example: I don't care a chair in my room (takes up space/gets in way).  I can manage with or without.  Some folks cannot.

I travel a lot, and every hotel chain (or local) does what they deem best based off the ROI.  I would consider cruises no different.

  8. Great info from @XBGuy

I did totally forget about insect repelant.  I swear they breed those suckers big.

Do agree about eating on land, I once had some marvelous halibut in Ketichan right near the cruise docks (Annabell's).

Regarding the ship.  I guess it depends, are you doing a balcony?  If not, I hear many people congregate in various deck areas to watch the world go by.

Lastly, yes the path that the ship takes might be worth looking at.  Is it interesting, or is that ok?

My honey is going on a cruise for the first time next year with me,  he's looking forward to sitting in a chair and watching the water with a beverage in his hand.  For me, I perfer the places we stop at, or the things to do.  To each their own!

Not to be another broken record 😉, but the add on of Gratuities and Beverage PK would add $30 x 2 people x 10 days - which is $600 by my math. Gratuities would cost us $300 on our current plan. Since it would be unusual for us to have over 1 drink each per day, that PBP would cost us $300 for we two for the 10-20 drinks we MIGHT have. And we'd probably have well less than 10 each for the entire 10 day cruise, since we prefer our drinks in our cabin, and the PBP cannot be "cabin delivered". So adding on, with my math and preferences, the add on<s> is not a good deal. For someone who drinks a lot more than we do, yes, I can see where $300 for a 10 day cruise for two people might be attractive.

I am still checking into cancelling our Anniversary+Cyber booking, and re-booking the same cruise using the BSE.....if I can start getting straight answers out of a couple of TAs😎.

+ sodas, water, specialty coffee/teas.  I think it's a pretty solid deal, but yah it really is customer dependent.

I called Princess direct and had them do the comparatives.

For my 2021 cruise, refaring would have been $20 less than just tacking on the Add-on.  For that, I did the addon, super grateful to keep the OBC since I expected to refare and lose it.
