  1. If you just want the basics there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the Southampton Central Travelodge. In the town and an easy stroll to the ‘front’ to see other cruise ships etc. arriving/leaving. Why waste your money on overpriced accommodation and food 🤷‍♂️

Sky Princess Nov 28, 2024 Southampton to Ft. Lauderdale. I don't believe there are any Princess ships that sail from the U.S. to Southampton in September. They are all sailing to the Caribbean.

Where does it state we’re only referring to West to East TA’s 🤷‍♂️

There’s mention above of TA’s out of Barcelona and Venice 🤔

I’m on the Sky out of Southampton heading stateside on a 31 night return trip back to Southampton which departs on the 15th September 2024.

Find out all you can from people who actually used the insurance.  Lots of companies can quote you an affordable premium. The measure of good insurance is how well they manage claims.  This applies to all insurance: homeowners, auto, health, etc.  I had to learn that the hard way.

This is the sort of info I need 👍

  4. My mother who is in her mid 80’s with a number of health issues has booked to travel with my wife and I, but in her own cabin, when cruising to the Med on the Sky Princess next March. Could you please share with me any recommendations for Travel Insurance Companies sympathetic to the elderly etc. and of course any other tips.

    Thank you.

Skarfabakki is what I meant. Just come fomr there. Most private tours pick up from outside the terminal, it's a few minutes walk. Some tours have pick up points in town. For this you need to take the free shuttle  to the Harpa Buliding and walk from there.

As I said above there are 2 tour pick up points one at each end of the berth. So ensure you define which place before hand as it’s a fairly long sprint along the berth if you’re in the wrong place. When off the Island Princess a few weeks ago we were picked up outside the entrance to the east as highlighted below.

  6. On the 3 occasions I have sailed on the Iona from Southampton I can 100% say that my car was moved from the spot it was initially moved to as I boarded. I could also track it’s movements nearing the end of my cruise and where it was parked on my return awaiting collection.
I can also say that parking4cruises are now parking cars out the port area in Totton.

Apologies for jumping in to this topic, but I have a similar query, but aimed at an Australian based cruise, so gratuities are not a factor.

Is it possible if one does NOT have the Plus package to have wi-fi on a pay-as-you-go basis? The Plus package would not suit me as I don't drink alcohol or coffee, don't eat desserts and wouldn't be using the gym!

But I would like to be able to go online if I wanted to.

    TIA

Yes and I’m using it now on the Island Princess off Greenland @ $19.99 per day or cheaper per day over a longer term 👍

Read: stiffing the crew.  It is what it is. Can't candy-coat or use righteous justification.

On a previous Sky cruise my stateroom attendant informed me that she was salaried so it made no difference to the crew whether CA was removed or not and that she was not informed who did or did not remove the CA. This revelation caused some doubt so on my cruise last week I asked my SA in a roundabout way about salaries for staff etc. and he was more than happy to inform me that removal of CA made no difference to him whatsoever and that cash left for him was a real bonus. He also confirmed that he had no way of knowing who did or didn’t pay the CA but that he had an idea if a particularly hefty tip was left.
