  1. If you can afford it, get the Cheers package.  You save 10% if you pre-purchase and the worry of the cost  is taken care before you cruise.  You might not think you will get your money's worth if you just drink a few cocktails/beers/wine but when you add water, coffee, sports drinks, so forth, you'll be surprised how quickly it adds up. I am going on a girl's cruise and my three cruising mates have decided they are not going to get Cheers.  They say they will only have a drink or two and a maybe a glass of wine at dinner and possibly a iced coffee or milk shake or soda and bottled water of course. They are in for a surprised when they get their bill at the end of the cruise.  But hey, we all live and learn.

  2. I totally agree with Carnival mainly interested in "new" cruisers. We currently have 5 cruises booked with Carnival, 3 are on the Celebration (the biggie is our 50th wedding anniversary).  We are platinum and love Carnival; however, have decided to try some of the other lines just to change it up a bit.

I have to admit, the rival lines do seem really excited to have "new" cruisers too.

  3. I was on the Sunshine March 7-14.  There were 9 of us all together.  We all had internet and it did not consistently work for any of us. It was hit or miss for the entire cruise.  We were told by the crew that it was always like this.  Could not  keep a connection long enough to use my computer for email, phone for short calls or just general use.  It was so bad that Carnival refunded the cost at the end of the cruise.

  4. I understand your disappointment.  We booked the Freedom for May 2023, Alaska in March of 2021.  It was a family cruise celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.  We also booked several years in advance so that we could get specific cabins together and save the needed monies for travel, excursions and so forth (we live on the east coast).  When we got our new cabin assignments, we were all over the ship. Since it was a smaller ship, Carnival was not able to give us cabins together.   Sometimes, it does take several years of planning and when things start to come apart at the seams, it is upsetting.  I just wanted to say, it is okay to feel sad.  We choose to rebook on the Celebration and know we will have a great time.  Find your new cruise and do not be made to feel bad because you are disappointed. Take care 😊

  5. We were recently on the Sunshine, March 7-14 in cabin 10121and experienced a plethora of cabin issues. Guest Services basically ignored issues, failed to address or did not want to address issues until halfway through our cruise.

    *Musty/mildew smell in cabin

    *Stench in bathroom

*Warm room-78o , little to no air coming from air conditioning vents (air control on high, curtains closed)

*Damp/wet carpet in front of closets and under vanity

    *Refrigerator not cooling

*Water not draining from on balcony

*Shower head partially functional, low shower pressure

*Shower drain extremely slow in draining (probably part of the stench problem)

*Lack of hot water in the mornings when showering

    *TV frozen, often pixelating

We were wondering had anyone else experienced some of the same issues.

  6. I'm getting the same email and finally decided to call in to make sure all was okay.  I spoke with the nicest online tech support person who said there is a glitch in the system.  That it has been reported numerous times by Carnival to the providers of the software. She also said as long as it was crossed through and checked in the "My Things to Do List" that I was good to go.

  7. My sister and I originally booked the Ecstasy and with dancing of the ships were moved to the Elation.  We had an ocean view on the Empress deck 7 and now have been moved to G1 on deck 14.  It is my understanding that there are only two cabins like this on the Elation.  Can anyone share pictures or their experience with this specific cabin? All or any input would be greatly appreciated.

  8. I just returned from a cruise and got the email with our cabin assignments today.  We booked four cabins March 2021 for a cruise to Alaska in May 2023.  We booked early so we could have specific cabins all side by side on the lido deck. We will be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.  I am not happy with the smaller older ship nor am I happy with the new cabin assignments.  I felt the Freedom was old (last refurbished in 2014)  but Spirit is even older and hasn't been refurbished since 2007.  I recently spent 7 days on the Sunshine which is an older ship (3 years older than Spirit).  There were so many issues with the ship related to age and cabin renovations that added spa cabins, that I have sworn off older ships for now. However, I will say that the crew is super fabulous, probably one of the most terrific crews I have ever met and this was my 23rd cruise on Carnival. It is with a sad heart, that I will be canceling our 50th wedding anniversary Alaska cruise tomorrow.😔

  9. I booked the Freedom a year ago for a cruise to Alaska, May 2023 for 50th wedding anniversary.  Four cabins together on lido deck since we are going with our grown children.  I am also waiting to see how the cabin situation pans out.  I understand changes; however, I called when the most recent dancing of the the ships started to inquire about changing and/or cancelling and was assured that Freedom was NOT leaving Alaska.  So much for assurances.

  10. As I have grown older and hopefully wiser, my advice is wear what makes you happy and feel good, life is too short to do otherwise.   As for myself and my DH, we like to play "dress-up" every now and then so we are one of those older couples you will see all gussied up on elegant night.  To be truthful, he actually does it for me.  In fact on our upcoming NYE cruise, he will be wearing his first tux to celebrate is 65th birthday (he is a NYE baby).  So we will dress-up and celebrate us while being comfortable with ourselves and those around us regardless of how everyone is dressed. ☺️

  11. As of today my husband and I are sailing on the Mardi Gras, 8/21.  I was able to schedule the rapid antigen test with CVS for both of us on Wednesday, 8/18 in the evening.  We will have to traveling about 50 miles; however, this is the closest site that offers this particular test. I guess it is what it is.

On a side note, we are still waiting on our email from Carnival letting us know about the recent changes/requirements for cruising - lol.
