  1. Benny,
Thank you so much for the wonderful review and great pictures. You really entertained so many folks on this board through the week.

We will be on Wonder 04/08/22. I hope to like it as much as we love the newly revamped Oasis.

We will be on Odyssey 04/08/22. I hope we like it as much as we love the Anthem.

Both of these ships sail from NJ. No flying!

However, we are willing to fly for a side 2 side on two new ships.

  2. Hi Merion Mom,

I know you are an avid cruiser. I have been following your excellent posts for years.

Out of curiosity, have you resumed sailing yet?

We sailed on the Oasis twice, and the Anthem once, all three sailings were out of Bayonne in Sept, Oct, and Nov 2021.

They were all wonderful cruises, but definitely a different vibe.

  3. Hi again Radio!

We just sailed with you on the Oasis on 10/10/21.

Our next sailing is also 11/28 on the Anthem! This will be our last cruise this year. I booked this cruise over a year ago at a very nice price.

The Oasis cruises we sailed on (Sept 5th and Oct 10th) were spur of the moment bookings. The prices were a little steep, but after not sailing for almost 2 years I did not care ☺️

Our next sailing is a side 2 side (S2S) out of Fort Lauderdale:

    1 week on Wonder

    1 night in a hotel

1 week on Odyssey (actually 8 nights)

    2 new ships in a row…exciting!

Have a great cruise on the Anthem!

Yes, did you not get the e-mail which spells out the health & safety protocols.

    Testing
Pre-Cruise: Within 3 days of your sailing’s departure date and before your arrival to the terminal, all guests 2 years and older are required to present a negative COVID-19 Test Result (antigen or PCR.) Proper documentation (printed negative test results or negative test results presented on your phone) from an accredited laboratory (no doctor’s notes) is required to sail. All costs for this test are the guest's responsibility and must be done on their own, not at the terminal.

At the terminal: Unvaccinated guests ages 2 to 11 are required to take a PCR test for COVID-19 when checking in at the terminal. Registration details for this test will be sent via email in advance. This test is complimentary.

PS:  I'm also on the Sept. 5th sailing on Oasis

I think I saw the word “antibody”, not “antigen” on CVS website. All is clear now. We just scheduled our test 😀

So looking forward to this sailing!

  5. My hubby and I are also booked on this cruise.

It is an 8 night cruise.

Some months ago, the CDC said no cruises over 7 nights until 11/01/21. It was shortly after that announcement that this cruise went missing from Royal sailings. This cruise is due to set sail on 10/30/21.

I still have heard nothing from Royal concerning this cruise. Final payment to our big box travel agent is due in about 2 weeks.

  6. Hi Lu!

The Esplanade is two story, while the Promenade is one story. The Esplanade definitely is tighter...smaller, narrower and more cramped. All stores are located on the lower level. The upper level has restaurants, Bionic Bar and not much else. We use the upper level to cut through en-route to a destination.

Both are nice, but we prefer the Promenade. Since we sail the Anthem of the Seas frequently as Bayonne is only an hours drive from home, we have gotten used to the Esplanade.  It is hard to describe the Esplanade without seeing it, as it is very different that other royal ships. As others have said, it starts straight, then veers to the side of the ship. It is not a straight line.

At this point, I’ll take either! 🤓

  7. Interesting thought about canceling all early cruises out of the US, and just sailing out of Rome.

We are booked on a B2B from Fort Lauderdale, leaving 4/3/21 and 4/9/21  The second leg of out cruise returnes back to Fort Lauderdale on 4/17/21. The Odyssey will leave the same day for her transatlantic.

I thought I was safe if the Odyssey is delivered late.  It never dawned on me that she may not sail out of Fort Lauderdale at all during late 2020 or early 2021!

    Stay safe everyone!
