Have just begun investigating a possible cruise to Bermuda for 6/19. Looks like NCL, Royal and Carnival are my only options. Any other? And do any sail from the south (ie Florida?)? We live an hour from port caniveral and it kills me to have to fly! Last went to Bermuda over 30 years ago and there were ships in Hamilton. No longer? Any and all advice appreciated! Thanks!

Can anyone offer info on the “excursions credit”? Does it apply to any excursion booked thru NCL or just certain ones? Am just starting investing a cruise to Bermuda for 6/19 and this looks interesting.

Where have you been still reading these reports. Sorry that reports here to the contrary not yet convinced you that you don't need to be worried.
I’ve read them here on cruise critic. People in a tither that the refurb was cancelled. Personally, I don’t care if bathroom tiles are 80’s style and TV’s aren’t latest model-but I’m enough of a worrier to want some reassurance! I need to let it go! I’m sure it’ll be fine.

We are doing that cruise in 3 weeks. What were your general impressions? I’ve heard so much negative about the condition of the ship, I’m a little concerned!

I bought a pair at the Columbia outlet for $20. They fold up small. I bought a size up so they would fit over jeans.

Does this mean if HAL dies, Oprah is responsible for the Neiuw Stantendam's upbringing until it becomes 18?
People stop taking things so seriously there are more important issues in the world. Congrats to Oprah I will be on the Neiuw Stantendam in March 2020.
My question exactly! Is Oprah responsible for the ships religious education?
Why would anyone care who the ships “godmother” is? Really, move on to important issues!

I will be on my first Alaska cruise in July. I bought waterproof pants for myself and husband. They will take up little to no room in luggage. I bought one size larger to be able to wear over jeans. They will easily fit in backpack if not needed while on excursions.

Gosh - I’m going to add a slightly different take here. I also do full hair and makeup each night before dinner. However, I relish the ability to take my time. I often shower and sit on the balcony air drying my hair for a half hour or so. Then my husband and I will have a glass of something sparkling (champagne or prosecco), and I’ll finish the “process”. I have a great cruise mix on my iPhone that we listen to while getting ready as well. During the work week, getting ready is always rush-rush and a chore. On ship I get ready to so that I feel good about me. Perhaps that’s why my best photos have been taken at sea...

I love this! While I rarely do what anyone would consider “full hair and makeup”, I think it’s great that you make it an enjoyable experience! The most important thing, in my opinion: you be you!

I have shoulder length thick frizzy hair. I live in Florida so I know frizz! First, consider a keratin treatment-it’s wonderful! Second, redken frizz dismiss products shampoo, conditioner, and styling products. Third, revlon one step volumizing hairdryer. This hair dryer is amazing! It is a powerful dryer with a round brush on the end. I let my hair air dry for about 30 minutes and than it only takes about 7-10 minutes to completely dry my entire head! It’s $60 at Ulta or on amazon.
Above all, DO NOT give up any activity you enjoy because of your hair!
Have a great time!

I love reading all the positive remarks about Haines! We are on noordam in 5 weeks, and I was a little disappointed that we were stopping in Haines not Skagway. Only because I’d never heard of Haines before. We are in port from 6:30am to 9pm. We have the glacier point wilderness safari booked. We will have the several hours in the later afternoon and evening to explore. Any other suggestions? Thanks !

It's the whole slippery slope thing: jeans lead to ripped t-shirts, lead to short shorts, lead to bathrobes, lead to (as one poster invoked) "the bathing suits too many plus size cruisers wear." Soon there will be naked people eating surf and turf in the MDR, don't ya know.
And all this because a few people chose to wear jeans. I hope you're happy now.
I’m concerned about naked people and those claw cracker things! Ouchie!

Wearing bathrobes to the pool area as a cover up could well indicate that someone has spent time in a five or six star resort where bathrobes are expected to be used as cover ups and where this is quite a common practice. They may view this as the norm rather than the exception.
Well I’ve never been to a 5 star resort, but if we use the hot tub on our Alaska cruise, I plan on using the bathrobe as a coverup! Figure it’s warmer than my typical beach coverups!

And this is why packing for July Alaska cruise is causing major anxiety! Bringing everything from shorts to winter coat!

Does anyone know how far of a walk it is from dock to totem heritage center? Weather permitting, we prefer to walk if not crazy far!

I know it’s a long shot-but any info about cabin 6110 would be appreciated! Sailing July 8-so excited! Have a great trip!

We are on Noordam July 8, Seward to Vancouver. Cabin 6110. Can’t wait. I have to say that the color of the carpet, bathroom tile, or the size of the TV will have no effect on what, for me, is the trip of a lifetime! Enjoy your cruise everyone!

Out next cruise is Alaska and we live in Florida. So far I’ve purchased rain pants for each of us (me and hubby), waterproof hiking shoes for both, a rain coast for me, a hooded sweatshirt for both, multiple long sleeve t-shirts for me, and a backpack for hubby. Can you tell the Columbia outlet loves me?

That will work if you carry the duffle bag through Security screening. You can just bring the case under your arm or stacked on top of your roller bag.
Thank you!

Noordam refurbish question

We did Alaska on noordham in July in a balcony suite. The cabin was fine, I have no complaints about it. Yes the common areas are very dated-the crows nest had furniture that I think was borrowed from the Miami Vice set - but who cares? It was in good shape and comfy, just ugly! The music and entertainment were another story! That also needs to be updated! It was 50’s-70’s in all venues. We didn’t do Lincoln center stage so I can’t comment on that. Alaska is about outdoors not in! Enjoy!
