How do you bring the soda on? Do you put it in your luggage? I’m planning on putting an empty soft sided duffle in a suitcase and buying soda and water before boarding and putting it in duffle. Will that work?

Haha! Me too! I booked last night! We’re flying in from Florida so I know we’re going to be super tired. Wanted a nice early time. Booked 5:30. One thing checked off the list! Have a great cruise!

We are going in the beginning of July and was planning on making ressies at Simon and Seaforts, but I thought it was too early! Guess not!

We are doing the same ports in July with HAL. I know some of the excursions thru HAL stated “handicapped accessible”. I would check for those. Good luck!

We are driving from Central Jersey to Naples in April for our daughters wedding. We have to transport the wedding gown, my gown and the maid of honors gown (our other daughter). We will drive straight through to Newport Richey (16 hours) and stop for the night at my moms. I am so afraid to stop at a Hotel and have to take the wedding gown out of the car....too many what if's! We will make the 3 1/2 drive to Naples the next day Wednesday...relax for 3 days have the wedding on Saturday, Then drive over to Miami on Sunday for the night and head to the Port on Monday for a 4 night cruise on the Enchantment...with the our daughter the Bride & son in law the Groom, our older daughter, son in law and 7 month old grandson, and our best friends from California!
I'm sure we won't be as excited when we get off the ship on Friday morning and we are the only ones driving back while the others fly home and the bride & groom head out for a week in Cancun but it will all be worth it....we will be done paying for WEDDINGS!!
We have decided to leave here about 3:00 am on that Tuesday morning to HOPEFULLY avoid all the crazy traffic in the DC area! We shall see how that plan works out!
We recently drove round trip Ormond Beach Florida-Annapolis Maryland. Look into taking route 17 around dc. The southern end is in Virginia, just north of Richmond. Northern end is around Annapolis and you can get back on 95. Also, NO MATTER WHAT, take 295 around Richmond. There are signs telling how long 295 and 95 will take, often not much of a difference. It’s not the time saved, it’s the absolute horror of 95 thru Richmond. It was pure terror! Winding, skinny lanes, construction, a lot of merging traffic. It was awful! 295 was a nice easy road!
Have a safe trip and congratulations on your daughters wedding!

I wouldn’t call I95 the open road! I avoid it whenever possible. OP, did you add on the cost for gas and tolls, too?
No tolls once out of Jersey

I bought a pair of rain pants at the Columbia outlet for $20. I just went up a size to allow for jeans underneath. I also bought some tights-one fleece lined-to wear under my yoga pants for sea days. Not cruising til July, so not sure if this is going to be too much or not enough-hopefully just right!

Yes, you can ask them to remove the items in the mini bar. And yes, your balcony cabin will have a mini bar.
And a final yes - you can buy canned soda/pop with the package.
Thank you!

Can I request that the room steward remove any beverages in a minibar (I’m not even sure there’ll be one-noordham balcony cabin)? I’m planning on bringing a few bottles of water onboard and would like to put them in frig instead. Also, can I buy canned soda with the package? I’m not a coffee drinker, but need my soda first thing in the morning!

I just don’t get how putting undies and socks in separate cubes doesn’t take up MORE space. I’m a “shove em in the nooks and crannies” and fill up empty space kinda of packer. If you roll the big stuff and fill up the empty space (with the aforementioned undies, socks, plus bras and swimsuits), no wrinkles.

You can prepay the DSC/tip with HAL. I've done it. You call HAL directly or thru your TA to prepay. You can't prepauy on line like other cruise lines.
Thank you!

Technically, there is no way to prepay the HSC (Hotel Service Charge aka - tipping).
But, what you can do is buy some OBC (on board credit) in advance on the HAL site so that you have enough purchased to cover the HSC - so, in essence, prepay it.
The HSC covers everyone on board that takes care of you. From your stewards, waiters, workers, etc.
I don't believe it covers Club HAL (the children's club) so tipping is appropriate there.
Of course you can tip over and above. The HSC is charged to your account each day. If it is left in place, anything you choose to give in cash over and above it to whomever you choose to give it to is theirs to keep.
Hope this helps.
So if I’m reading this correctly (and thanks for the response), I’ll be charged for tipping on my account? That’s fine, I don’t mind that. I just want to avoid having to run around with a bunch of envelopes with tips for everyone the last day of the cruise!

Help. We are sailing Noordham to Alaska in July. This is only our second cruise, so not very knowledgeable! Our previous cruise was RCL and we were able to prepay gratuities. Is this an option on HAL? I really like the idea of having it taken care of. I understand the option of additional tipping, and am prepared to do so. I just like not having to worry about the necessary, minimal tipping. Also, if prepay is an option, who does that cover and who do I still need to tip? Thanks!

For your one bag $20 might be acceptable. We go the all-you-can-fit-in-the-bag-for-$20 route. Perhaps every fourth day - it's amazing how much does fit - and gratifying how well it is done.
Is it weird that I’m really looking forward to stuffing the bag? So relieved not to have to worry about getting an extra pair or jeans or pants in suitcase for Alaska cruise! Cold weather clothes take up so much more room than shorts and tank tops!

I have super frizzy hair and live in Florida-bad combo. The best frizz fighter is a keratin type treatment at the hair salon-expensive but completely worth it. I can air dry my hair with no frizz! Otherwise, I suggest redken frizz dismiss shampoo conditioner and styling creams. The styling products come in “fpfs”-frizz protection. On high humidity days, I go with the highest-30. When all else fails, pony tail and hat.

Have any of you gone into the main dinning room on formal night and had the man across from you, wearing a very nice Tux, start to chew Tabaco and pull out his spit container to spit out his Tabaco juice, while you were eating your filet of beef. I can say that I have now had that experience.
Ok, this gets my vote for rudest thing! Of course, I would have then vomitted at the table, and that would be considered rude too!

Hey! I just had a fantastic idea! Why don't we give this hat in the MDR thing a rest and get back on topic?
But What if you wear a hat while on your laptop in the MDR??!!

I wouldn't wear a hat to dinner, even on vacation, but if someone told me I shouldn't because of the bible...I might just give it a try.
Oooh a rebel! I like it!

That is what i do all the time. Some times people say thank you when you let them in the elevator first even though i was there before them and sometimes people are rude and say nothing and just expect it.
And those people get a very loud “you’re welcome” from me!
