  1. Hello everyone,

I'm going on my first cruise next September to Bermuda with my wife. I was curious is someone can provide some information regarding their experiences with the drink package vs paying per drink.

    1. Are you able to purchase buckets of beer? (My father was on a cruise and could buy 6 beers for the price of 5). I'm a beer drinker, and can sit back and enjoy beers throughout the day, but not looking to get drunk.

    2. Our cruise is only a 4 day cruise, with one at sea, one day at bermuda, and another return day at sea.

    3. My wife doesn't drink much, however would probably be interested in the other virgin frozen drinks.

    4. Does the Cheers! package allow you to take drinks to the cabin? As in if I wanted a mimosa or bloody mary in the morning, could you have it delivered to your room?

I guess I'm new to this, a part of me would rather save for it and buy early than have to see what all was spent after the trip. Another part isn't sure spending $100+ each day when we are at a port for 1/3 of the trip.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    1. Buckets of beer and towers of beer are not included in Cheers. There are some good by-the-bottle beers available. No need to limit yourself to just bud or miller.

    2. Virgin cocktails are included in Cheers, and I don’t think that they count against your limit of 15 cocktails/beer/wine per day.

    3. Your wife (and you) can enjoy as non-alcoholic drinks as part of Cheers. Bottles of water, specialty coffees and teas, energy drinks, sodas, vitamin water, and coconut water have no maximum amount. I always grab a bottle of water to take ashore.

    4. Room service drinks are not included in Cheers, but you can definitely carry a cocktail back to your cabin. I often run out in the morning to bring a mimosa back to enjoy on my cabin balcony in the morning or grab a cocktail to enjoy while dressing for dinner.

  2. I’m reviving my previous thread...

has anyone in the Vista Havana area interior or balcony (NOT Cabanas) cabins been able to get a key cad/pass that opens the doors that separate the Havana area from the rest of the promenade deck?

These are the same type of key cards that Cabana folks use to enter snd exit through their outside Lanai gate.

  3. We stayed there 3 years ago and will be staying there again this year. It's a bit older, but as I understand it, it has had some remodeling. Best part is the location. The Bayside Marketplace is across the street and there are a lot of restaurants and bars there. The CVS drug store is only a block away, as is a liquor store (for picking up sodas, wine, and forgotten items). There wasn't a shuttle when we stayed there before, but the cabs line up in front of the hotel on cruise days. It's a five minute cab ride. You can see the ship from the hotel.

  4. We are hosting some of our friends in our cabin for our Bon Voyage party after embarkation. I was planning to pre-order some appetizer plates from the Fun Shops. (We've already pre-ordered decorations and a bottle of bubbly.) The appetizer plates would include Cheese, Meats, and maybe Sushi. My question is, how to we arrange to have them delivered to our cabin for our party? I wouldn't want them waiting in the cabin for us and then going bad (spoiling), but I also know that the crew is extra busy on embarkation day, so I am not sure if we can call room service or our steward for their delivery when it is time for our party. This will be my 14th cruise, yet I've never done this before. Anyone have any words of wisdom on how to arrange for appetizers to be delivered on time for a Bon Voyage party? (I searched the boards and didn't find a previous thread on this question)

  5. We have purchased Cheers! on 3 (soon to be 4) of our cruises. I think it is worth it. I only hit my 15 alcoholic drinks maybe twice, but I still got my money's worth. I grab a bottle of water or PowerAde multiple times a day, including one or two to take ashore on port days. I like nice tea, and it is an extra cost if you want anything other than Lipton, but the Cheers! program cover it. I like to try fun new cocktails, and as others have said, if I don't like what I order, I don't have to stress over the $7 I just spent, but instead just order something else. Also, there are some nice higher end rums, tequilas, and other alcohols that you can choose as long as each drink is independently less than $50 per serving. Remember to ask the bar staff to use a specific topshelf alcohol. You don't need to settle for the well stuff.

  6. I am a bit of a "what if?" packer due to have been in some rather touchy situations in the past (eg. tropical storms, heavily damaged luggage, respiratory infections due to second-hand smoke, etc), but after about 15 cruises, here are my suggestions... take 'em or leave 'em (beginning with the ones you mentioned).

Magnetic hooks - never brought them before, but due to reduced storage areas in cabins, I plan to this March

Powerstrip - Definitely. For charging cell phone (to use HUB app), cameras, e-readers, power a CPap Machine

Masking tape / duck tape - I have had luggage nearly destroyed twice by baggage handlers, and you'd be surprised how hard it is to find duct tape when you need it

Pen, Highlighter, Sticky notes, pad of paper - Pens, Highlighter and Post-its. I often travel with a group of friends, and the post-its are a great way to leave a note on a friend's cabin door

Over the door shoe holder - Haven't ever used one and don't plan too

    Other items -

Nylon/Net Laundry Bag - for your dirty clothes

Lanyard for your Sail and Sign Card

Small Flashlight - for emergencies, also carry on the airplane for the same purpose

Insulated Water Bottle/Cup - for carrying cold water ashore or drinks aboard ship

Towel Clips - for pool and beach

    Hand Sanitizer

Various over the counter meds - Cold medicine, ibuprofin, cough drops, band aids, Tums, Imodium

Disposable Rain Poncho (like from the dollar store)

    Travel umbrella

    Binoculars

Extra Camera memory cards - Put in a fresh one after a day or too so that if you lose your camera or the card, all of your trip photos aren't on a single card.

    Aloe Gel for sunburn

Water Shoes if you are going to any rocky beaches

    Photocopy of your passport

Bring a bottle of wine and a 12 pack of Soda per person

Pre-order bottled water for your cabin

Powdered individual-sized gatorade mix (to mix with bottled water to stay hydrated)

Bottle opener and corkscrew (to enjoy your wine in your cabin and avoid corkage fees)

    Ear plugs

Variety of different sizes of ziploc bags - they keep things dry and sand-free. great for packing damp bathing suits too

  7. I have searched nearly everywhere and not found an answer to the following question.

We will be staying in an Havana Aft Extended Balcony cabin on Deck 6 in March 2018. It is my understanding that there is a separate "Havana Stairway" for Havana guests between decks 5 and 7 that gives access to the Havana area. I also know that Cabana guests on Deck 5 get a special extra key card that allows them to enter the Havana Lanai Deck area from the general Deck 5 non-Havana promenade.

My Question... Do Guests in Havana cabins (inside and balconies on decks 6 and 7) also receive the extra key cards that will open the partition/door between the Havana deck 5 area Lanai and the non-Havana promenade? I ask because so much of the food and beverage locations are on Deck 5 and I am hoping to be able to walk from the Havana pool area down the outside deck and then bring back food and drinks to enjoy in the Havana area. I would prefer to not have to cut through the inside Havana bar.
