  1. With whom do you get your travel insurance through? For all our previous trips, we've never purchased any.
  2. From some googling, I read that the US Coast Guard is responsible for cruise ship safety... (https://www.transportation.gov/mission/safety/passenger-cruise-ship-information) So could one assume that the USCG would take\make a report and that would be public record? I guess I just don't understand the need for guests to sign an NDA for purposes of taking the "settlement" offer. But perhaps I answered my own question. Perhaps the offer was a settlement and in the fine print, guests cannot file lawsuits.
  3. Paging chengkp75, paging chengkp75 ...You're wanted in the following thread on barf and fumes
  4. Wow, so almost $3000 in compensation and having to sign an NDA? guess that's generous but what is Carnival affraid of in terms of people speaking to the press? Could they be afraid of fines? I was on a Carnival ship pre-pandemic and the maintenance crew were painting some railings. It was the strongest chemical smell I've ever encountered. I could see how some paint, if indoors, was making people sick. Can anyone comment on the paint, varnish etc that ships use? Do they not follow OSHA laws? @chengkp75

  6. Wow, bad week for Carnival. I just saw a news article that people are sick on Magic? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10856841/Passengers-report-nausea-vomiting-chemical-fumes-board-Carnival-Magic-cruise-ship.html
  7. I lean this way as well. My wife and I generally compare a cruise to a land based vacation. And with Carnival's pricing, a land based vaca would be almost double or triple. We use to like to go to Palm Springs for a long weekend but with hotel pricing, food costs, entertainment (there is really not that much to do in PS after dark), a Carnival cruise will when out every time. For us, the four day cruise is weekend getaway. We enjoy the price point and the convenience. If prices go up, we will probably cruise less as overall cost of living in CA has made luxury items more difficult.
  8. For my wife and I, we are both working adults and the four day cruises work great for us. We looked at NCL and RCL out of San Pedro and they were both week long cruises. So for now, I will be taking the "party" cruises out of LBC. If NCL offered 4 day cruises, we'd book in a second.
  9. San Diego native here. Carnival has never had a ship here for any period of time, seasonal or otherwise. We were supposed to get Miracle for some summer cruises but then covid happened and that killed it. Beyond that, the last Carnival ship to stop here was on accident because of engine problems. But Long Beach always had Inspiration and Imagination. Then they had Splendor for Mexican riviera. I don't recall four ships ever being in LB.
  10. Meh, sailed once from there when we did the fly in, stay at the hotel and leave the next day. After arriving back, we stayed a couple more days. Was a nice time but I much prefer New Orleans.
  11. The announcement is crazy. So instead of canceling the Miracle folks, they are canceling the Radiance folks because they are moving the Miracle guests to Radiance? So much ***** in that announcement I can't even begin to comprehend. Well, I am sorry this happened. Hope you can rebook to something that works for you. I guess I am further confused because I thought Miracle moved to SF. The wording in that announcement makes me think Miracle is moving back to LB.
  12. I thought Miracle was a beautiful ship. The ships are going to trendy now trying to look like Vegas hotels.
  13. My wife use to make\mix her own drinks from shots etc. I told her about this post and she just said to be sure you have a good travel cup (think Tervis) to mix your drinks in. The ship cups are pretty small.
  14. Well, I am sure others may disagree, but I'd hardly call that "limited capacity".
  15. That's great input! I am no stranger to saying goodbye to brands. As a gun guy, Colt failed me years ago and they've been around since the 19th century. I really do respect that though. I work hard for my dollars and I want what I want. After booking Radiance last week, I can home and asked my wife to look at NCL out of San Pedro. Sadly they are only doing 7 days and I right now can only fit in a four day. But long term, I am entirely cruise agnostic and have no problem seeking other avenues for my dollar. Very excited to try a Virgin cruise later this year.
  16. Not if they were someone whose been cruising them for a while. Sure, I've seen people from RCL say they "gave Carnival a try" and it perhaps wasn't for them. But I can't recall a long term Carnival cruiser flat out say "I'm done". Who knows, I could be wrong but frankly, I don't think I can remember anyone saying that.
  17. Wow, so just Royal and their Diamond lounges. My lord, they must be so short staffed. And again, they don't have their whole fleet sailing while Carnival choose to short their crew and passenger offerings all in the name of getting the entire fleet sailing. Glad Carnival doesn't run an airlines.
  18. You made the blanket statement... "Anyone who deals with the government on anything from the IRS to passport renewal to anything else knows the delays staffing issues are causing. It is ludicrous to try to somehow shift blame to Carnival." It would therefore be safe to say Vigin, NCL and RCL etc, have and are still dealing with the government" But surprisingly I have never read or watched or heard of any of these lines making any cutbacks to service in way form or another. Based on my "blaming Carnival" for their woes, why aren't the other lines making cutbacks? Seems Carnival is the only one.
  19. I don't think anyone, on any thread, has stated they are leaving Carnival. Quite the opposite really. Probably three or four new posts of people going on Carnival for the first time. It's people who have sailed Carnival for years, who are seeing the changes, and are displeased with the way things are going\being handled. BTW, you failed to answer my question above, or is no answer in fact your answer.
  20. I'm sorry but why can't she get the exemption? Or at least try to get it? My unvaxed co-worker and his unvaxed wife cruised last month out of Long Beach and didn't have any problem getting the exemption.
  21. These comments are do dumb. Can't believe in 2022 people still post "if you don't like it, don't purchase it" crap. Someone can enjoy Carnival and still be annoyed, not like, or even hate some features and still enjoy a cruise. These replies are simply dumb. It was the same response I got when I posted on John Healds FB about poor late night dining options. People just need to grow up.
  22. Care to share any cutbacks that RCL, NCL, Disney or Virgin have announced since restart?
