I was told by others on our recent cruise to watch for "at par" deals on July 1. I've put an event in my calendar to check on that day!

It depends on the port. For example Oceania chartered flights from LAX using Air Tahiti to get PAX from North America to Papetee.

Use the feedback form on the site to inform them of your allergy before you go. When you board go the dinner reservations desk. They will set you up with everything you need for your culinary pleasure each day.

We did this cruise in 2015. There is nowhere for your bags. It is not a cruise terminal like Miami. From what I experienced you can drop your bags starting around 11-12 when boarding is being organized. Be prepared to be outside, hot and wait a while. Or just chill in a bar somewhere until everyone else is finished rushing on to the ship.

Regarding excursions, the Destinations department on each ship operates independently from the Ocean shore department. They screw up pre-booked excursions when the reservations are transferred from the shore to the boat at sailing. DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING.
We had lots of problems. Many people were not happy with their lack of knowledge of the excursions and that they are closed most of the day while in port. Nobody available to staff the desk.

Oceania emailed me this:

I have a gluten allergy. Don't stress about the fax thing. You can have your agent put it on your file.
Go to the dinner reservations desk on Deck 5 when you board. Each day thereafter they will give you a copy of the menu where you are eating two days in advance. You choose what you want and they prepare it ahead of time or make suggestions from the chef.
The buffet is fine, although they don't label items GF or DF. All the staff will consult with the chef to be sure.
You will have NO trouble eating. They are extremely helpful with food allergies.
Enjoy!
P.S. make sure you indicate on the menu you want the GF or DF desert of the day from the main galley. They don't list desserts on the menu. THEY'RE AWESOME.

We are on the 2/3/18 Papeete cruise and I'm wondering if my husband needs to bring a sport coat for the dinner restaurants.
I realize dress pants and shoes are required, but can he get by with button down collared dress shirts and no jacket?
No tie or jacket needed. A nice pair of pants and a short-sleeve shirt is fine.It is not a formal evening attire ship.

Unfortunately that is expensive on Papeete, and also incurs a fee from Oceania. There are not many regular flights there either. Hence why Oceania charters flights.
