Agreed. I am in 1140 now and nothing has changed as to the covering for this balcony (and we have stayed in this cabin before). The only overhang is from the metal structure of deck 12 above. For 1140, that represents about a third of the balcony covered. Of course, as for any balcony, it can be fully in shade or fully in sun depending on time of day and direction of the sun.

THANK YOU so much for replying about this area with the aft AQ cabins!!! So helpful !

Is there any noise from above, like the movie or scraping of chairs early morning or late at night?

From what you are saying, these cabins are still as desirable as before the renovation.

    Hope you enjoy your cruise!

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying they removed the canopies from the Deck 11 aft Aquas? Those canopies made these balconies quite comfortable. If indeed, they are gone, you are 100% correct. They will be sunny and hot, especially in the Caribbean mid-afternoon.

    Yes! You are understanding correctly!

These were very special AQ cabins before this revolution. Can anyone confirm  how they are now?

It seems better to book the C2 aft cabins , otherwise, but we wanted to book Aqua for Blu dining.

I believe that the wavy slats are meant to resemble waves/sun rays... "sunset bar"...

Do wish the deck 11 aft rooms had a canopy above so that those on deck 12 weren't looking down onto the extended balconies

and the same from below so those sitting at the bar aren't looking up into the balconies.

We will be on Infinity pre revolting dry dock and then in the same position/stateroom on another ship -post dry dock

    Will be interesting to compare

How much shade is left on these previously  great AQ deck 11 aft verandas? Has anyone heard that Celebrity may be replacing the canvas canopies? Otherwise they will be sooo hot!

if not, what would be the next best AQ choice?

  4. Just off the Celebrity Silhouette. We did have several guests on our ship using scooters and they were accommodated by the shuttles. I think there were specific ones. The shuttles dropped us off and picked us up on the North Side of Merrion Park. There were several different HOHO representatives there to get you onto their buses. We chose to walk to Trinity College (about a 10-15 minute leisurely walk) straight up from our drop point. From there everything we wanted to see was "walk able" with a good map.

Did Celebrity charge for the port shuttle into town, and was it available to come back to the ship?

    Thanks!

  5. We are very fortunate. Thanks for asking.

This is off topic here, but I have posted some info on the "Floataway Lounge" section under "The Morning Doves" if you want to read some of the details. :)

Thank goodness! I will check it out.

Back to chic nights and cigars now.:halo:

  6. Hi Jspirit, I tried going through all my pictures to see if there was an Dolphin boat tours, but couldn't find it, so can't comment there.

I'm pretty sure there were cabs out, no lines. Gibraltar is an easy port to make plans on the spot and a great place to walk. Please don't miss Main Street. Our friends who took the ship tour didn't see Main Street.

Thank you for your reply! We will plan to be dropped off at Main St. and walk back from there after the tour. Thank you for mentioning it!

  7. We are also considering taking the #11 bus (and will also be on the Reflection in June), but we're hoping to take it both directions, to and from Portovenere, for the sake of simplicity. I see the two stops described above, Ospedale or Asl Xxiv Maggio, but I'm wondering -- are bus tickets sold there, or do we need to buy them elsewhere? Also, I gather the ride is generally scenic and is about 30-40 minutes? Many thanks in advance!

Also interested in this bus from la Spezia to Portovenere. Is the bus stop walking distance from where we get off the ship or tender? Do we purchase the bus tickets at a tobacco shop and if so, where is it?

    Thanks for any advice!

  8. B2B on Celebrity there is an additional credit for both cruises - $50 for 7-9 days and $100 for 10 or more days. Ask up front for it if your agent doesn't apply it!

    Hal

Does this apply if you are sailing on one Celebrity ship and then switch to a different Celebrity ship on same day? Or is it only of you stay B2B on the same ship?

    Thanks.

  9. Coach station to Novotel is a simple 5-minute walk across parking lots.

    https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/50.905904,-1.4088022/50.9056313,-1.4147848/@50.9056565,-1.4123792,352m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!4m1!3e2

Then a ten minute walk to City cruise terminal, this time using dock gate 10 rather than the dock gate by Holiday Inn.

    https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Novotel+Southampton+Hotel,+1+W+Quay+Rd,+Southampton+SO15+1RA/50.9006813,-1.4145011/@50.902837,-1.4168302,683m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x487476bbedfad35b:0x83cdca5717d3667e!2m2!1d-1.415272!2d50.905611!1m0!3e2

Use the traffic lights to help you across busy West Quay Road.

Inside the docks some of the route doesn't have a separate sidewalk, just a yellow line between you & the traffic. But safe enough if you keep to the edge.

    JB :)

    Thanks, J Bull!

  10. Thanks for your helpful input.

if arriving by coach, we are thinking we could walk to Novotel. Also hoping to walk to City Cruise terminal with 4 wheeled luggage. Last time, stayed at Premier Inn West Quay and took a short cut through the Holiday In parking lot. Is there a walking route from Novotel approaching from the other entrance to the port, that wouldn't be much further than this?

    Thanks!

  11. JSPIRIT!!! So glad you jumped in! :D I booked this cruise because I remembered that you liked the itinerary. I was hoping by some shear luck that we would run into you at the pier. Maybe we will end up on the same cruise in the future....

So happy you saw my post and responded! Wish we were on deck with you right now! Love those sea days!

Barbados has the most beautiful beach ... we like to go to Lobster Alive which is right next to the Boatyard. Much quieter and more space, with very large umbrellas for shade. If you don't catch a tour, it will still be a beautiful beach day and so easy to get there and back! Have thee best time and enjoy the swim for me!

Many from your sailing are booked on the Eq next year for Mardi Gras. We are too , and hopefully we can go by then. Check it out and the sailing prior. Usually pays to book on board for the perks.

Will continue to watch for your updates. Can ALMOST feel the sunshine while we are in a deep freeze.

No volcanoes on this route, haha

  12. Today we had another sea day, lots of things to do on board, I found that the day slipped away very quickly. Now we have 5 islands in 5 days and I'm sorry that we're not getting another break in-between again.

We really enjoyed our two days in Curacao. When I'd originally learned that we were losing Bonaire for 2 days in Curacao, I was upset, but I really enjoyed this island, and it was nice to not have to stress about getting back to the ship on time on the first day.

One thing nice about the port in Curacao was the free wifi on the pier. I was able to catch up with the family without using any of my package minutes. :-)

We decided to upgrade to the premium package today. We thought this was a good compromise between getting it or not. It ended up costing us $94.40 each for the remaining 8 days. I'm not sure if it will be worth it, but we'll find out. We plan to visit the martini bar for the first time tonight. ;-)

Tomorrow is Barbados, and we reserved a private 5-hour catamaran sailing/snorkeling cruise, and looking forward to that.

SandG, so glad you are both enjoying the longer itinerary this year! Sounds like you are having good weather and fun on board.

Sadly we won't be boarding right after you disembark.Hopefully we can be back at sea again soon because I am really missing it! Thanks for reporting live from Eclipse. It helps me enjoy the voyage along with you!
