  1. - Babysitting is only for 12 month+, so you're right there (though we got VERY lucky and got the babysitting for every night except Day 1, which we were told is very unusual --- useless for you this trip, but good to know for future haha)

-They open up a room in the FunFactory (kids club) for most of the day for open-play - adult must stay with child, but its a nice open space with a bunch of toys and things to play with. IIRC, it was only closed from 12-2.

-In that play-space, they allow you to "check out" any of the toys your child likes. They had a ton of cups/shovels/buckets, so we checked out a few on Day 2, and returned them on Day 7. No charge, just had to return before end-of-cruise to avoid some fee.

-We brought our son a blow-up pool/tub, and he used the toys we checked out while playing in that. We brought the tub up to the Pool deck, plopped it next to our loungers, and filled it with water from the pool showers. He was happy for a bit just playing in that. We also set it up on the Veranda a few times and used the shower to fill it up. Good purchase with that, you will love having it.

-We had the Family Veranda -- HIGHLY SUGGEST IN THE FUTURE FOR YOU -- though I'm sure the RS will be equally spacious/divided. The Family Veranda though, has a massive balcony and door dividing the living room/bedroom area.

-Re: favorite spots, our son is pretty social, so he was happy to just be anywhere near people/action. We brought him to the Sunset Bar every morning for breakfast and evening for (his) dinner. During the day, we made sure to keep him on his nap schedule and brought him back to the room for those; usually I'd go back, put him down for nap, and relax on the balcony. Mid-way thru his nap, my wife would make her way back to the room (from the main pool, spa, solarium, etc) with a couple of drinks, and join me on the balcony until he woke up.

Hope this helps -- if you have more specific questions or general thoughts on how we did things, feel free to ask.

For reference, we drove down from Boston on the morning of Embarkation, so we "overpacked" knowing we wouldn't have to lug stuff around airports or anything. Even brought his own pack-n-play since we had no real "luggage constraints", and he slept 13 hrs a night (literally, every night...normally does 11-12 at home, so this was even better haha).

Hello - as you stated that you drove down and presumably parked at the terminal, just wondering if you were able to park in the garage - or the surface lot across the street from the garage? Any comments on the parking situation would be greatly appreciated as there are now two other large ships departing from there as well. Glad that you had great time. Thank you in advance.

  2. We are currently on Celebrity Summit. We got to the port around 9:50 am and they had a sign garage closed. Everyone had to park in the open lot right across from Bayonne Dry Dock. Not happy that we are paying $20 a day to park in such an awful spot. This is the first time we have not been let into the garage since it was built when sailing on Celebrity.

    Hello -

Just so I am perfectly clear, were you asked to park 'in the Dry Dock Parking Lot' - or were you still in the official 'Cape Liberty surface lot (right across from the garage)'? Also, for what it is worth, I just spoke to a live person at the Cape Liberty Cruise Port (phone number from cruiseliberty.com website). She informed me that they have made the decision that all Summit passengers will be asked to park in the surface lot (i.e. the garage will be 'closed' for Summit embarkation/disembarkation days). She also said that to the best of her knowledge, they haven't turned anyone away from the 'surface lot' (i.e. they have more than enough space to accommodate all Summit passengers in the surface lot).

  3. Infusion is now part of the gelato counter...no bartender there at 9 pm and hours aren’t in the daily either. Does not look exciting.

  4. Overview continued:

    Wine Service:

We were pleased with the wine choices using our premium beverage package (there were no perks offered since this was a charter, though grats were included in the cost - I was able to get the beverage package when it was 25% off a few months ago).

Though the wine lists in Blu and other venues didn't list certain wines, they were good about getting us what we wanted. We enjoyed old favorites and explored a bit, tasting some new wines. Here is one we tried and liked inTuscan (my DH's favorite wine is Layer Cake Shiraz, which they didn't have, but had this nice wine):

    enhance

Even though this was a charter, they still had some of the usual wine tasting events. We had done them all before, so didn't do any on this cruise since we were so busy with the music events.

Cellar Masters was a lovely venue:

The bar service was actually very good on this ship. As usual, we had our favorites - the Sunset Bar really made the best cocktails. The bar service in the theatre and other events was amazing - they had many servers and quick service. Interesting, since most people didn't have packages on this cruise (maybe related?).

    The Sunset Bar:

    Internet Service:

I got the unlimited internet service on sale for a decent rate. The service was excellent on this cruise. It was fast and always available, maybe because few people likely had unlimited internet (again, maybe because no free perks and fewer Captain's Club members with discounts).

    Entertainment:

Obviously, the entertainment was phenomenal - it was why we were there. This cruise was very well-run by Star Vista - they have learned and improved since the 2016 1st Flower Power Cruise. Except for a few venues where there wasn't enough room (and they later tried to correct it), we were happy with this cruise. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We loved coming back to our cabins at night and seeing what new gifts were awaiting us: Flower Power t-shirts, hats, frames, cruise essential kits and wine bottle carriers.

All in all, this was wonderful and memorable cruise! We look forward to doing it all again next year on the Infinity.

If anyone has any questions about this cruise or the Summit, please ask.

    Peace out!!

Hello - thank you for your review. Apparently there is a new bar ('Infusion') near the gelato place. Did you get to try that out?

  5. Hello -

I posted this question a few weeks ago and didn’t see a response. Are there any issues with parking at the Port - given that there are ‘multiple’ ships that leave during the week on different days? That is, does the ‘rolling turnover’ cause availability issues? We are going to be on the Summit Aug 5. Thanks in advance.

  6. Cape Liberty Parking - multiple ships

    Hello All -

We are planning on taking the Aug 5 (Sunday to Sunday) Celebrity Summit Cruise to Bermuda. I understand that there are multiple large ships utilizing the same port during different days of the week. Can someone comment on the parking situation at the garage next to the pier given that there is a ‘rolling turnover’ during the week? Is there a certain arrival time in the morning that would be recommended to make sure parking is available in the garage? Thank you all in advance.

  7. Thanks. I have that but it doesn't specify what they grate on top of the drink. It's the only piece I'm missing!

I can’t be 100% sure of this, but I believe it is ‘dark chocolate’. I have had this drink a number of times - and I remember asking this question. (However, I had a few cocktails at the time of asking this question, so my memory may fail me)

  8. Depending on your sailing date in August, would you consider a Sky Suite? I see SS 6145 and 6146 are available for the Aug 12/18 sailing. In our opinion, 2 of the best Sky Suites on the M Class fleet. The balcony is larger than most of the other Sky Suites on the ship, and the bathroom is certainly a key selling feature.

Just a thought if the dates match.

    Randy

Thanks for the info Randy. We are looking at 5 Aug departure date. I think we will likely stay with a CS. However, I will keep this information in mind for future cruises. Cheers.

  9. Glad to hear that you did not hear any noise in the cabin. A couple of years ago, we were on one of the newer RCL ships and was surprised how much noise could be heard inside the cabin. Thank you for your inputs - and good recommendation.

Anyone else that have experience on the ‘aft’ CS cabin?

  10. Happy New Year all!

I understand that Summit (and Infinity I believe) is testing out a new bar called Infusion. As I was a big fan of the Molecular/World Bar on the other ships, can a recent Summit traveler comment on this new Bar. Hours of operation...menu pics...etc...

    Thank you.

  11. Hello All -

We are cruising this August to Bermuda on the Summit. The last time we were on the Summit, the Celebrity Suite wasn’t remodeled to include the deck outside. From what I understand, the deck was an ‘add-on’ (I.e. did not take away from the original CS footprint). Given that, and the fact that the CS is on a hump, has anyone noticed any wind buffeting noise when the ship is sailing. And if so, did it make any difference which particular CS you were in?

    Thank you all in advance.

  12. Hey Tim/Mit :)

Not sure if you saw my earlier post...which exact Celebrity Suite are you in? Wondering if you hear any noises from above/side - or - as you are on the hump, do you hear the wind noise while sailing? Any short videos of the room/balcony would also be appreciated. Thanks and hope your ankle is feeling better. Cheers

    Hello Tim -

Can you please tell me which Suite number you are in? Also, do you notice any wind noise in the suite as you are on the hump? And how many chairs on the deck? If able, post a video clip or two. Thanks and have a great time. We are looking at a CS this summer (Bermuda cruise). Cheers...

  14. We are in Barcelona about to embark SD2 today. Yesterday we had drinks with friends on SD1 while in Barcelona for the day. Senior staff confirmed that Antigua is indeed being substituted for Marigot on St. Maarten for this upcoming season, the implication being this will be the case for all voyages this coming Caribbean season 2017-2018.

    Hello -

I am going to be on SD2 transatlantic from Lisbon this November. One of the stops on the TA is Marigot. Would you kindly inquire with SD2 staff if they will anchor off-shore at Marigot - or - will they substitute another Island (Antigua) perhaps. Thanks and enjoy your cruise.

  15. Hello folks -

Now that the hurricane-related itinerary changes seem to be settling down, how many folks are on the SD2 TA this November? If I have read the posts accurately, here is what I show: Beignetboy, Vandrefalk, Fieldstone eagle, and me. Anyone else? I am looking forward to the crossing and meeting new folks. Cheers...

  16. No problem at all. I figured it was something like that. We are glad that you at least have some word. We are still waiting for info on the TA into San Juan. We are supposed to arrive in San Juan on SDII on 11/21

Hello - I just received an email (literally 14 mins ago) stating that the Nov 2017 SDII TA from Lisbon to San Juan is staying 'as scheduled'. I am a bit surprised about the San Juan portion - but let's see how this all turns out. I certainly hope and pray (independent of the cruise) that Puerto Rico gets back on their feet soon.

  17. As I expected, today I got written information through my german travel agency from the German TUI Travel agent. TUI is one of the major sales agents for Seadream in Germany. Our Seadream Cruise out of Marigot end of November this year is canceled due to FORCE MAYEUR. They will refund the deposit completely. They did not offer any other Seadream cruise at this time.

I feel very sad for Seadream and hope that they will recover from this economic crises.

I try to cancel my flight bookings with KLM Airlines to SXM and the hotel bookings and hope for refunds.<|3

Wow. I am sorry to hear that on many levels. I am currently booked on a Trans-atlantic on SD2 leaving early November. I am wondering if they will even move the yacht(s). I will post something as soon as I hear something on this.

  18. Happy you decided to join this sailing. I always enjoy visiting Lisbon (and Porto), so plan to stay for 3 nights before my cruise (which also helps in getting over the jet lag from the West Coast). There are any number of good hotels, though I usually stay at the Sofitel.

Do we know which Lisbon port we will be embarking at? It seems Santa Apolonia has been used in the past. Based on this answer, I will likely find a hotel reasonably close by. Have you heard if there are any large groups on this trip? Enough questions for now. I will now start on getting my 'resort casual' wear in order :) Looking forward to meeting you (and others) ! Cheers...

  19. Is anyone else here still on this transatlantic cruise?

Hello - well I pulled the trigger and I am officially now on this Nov TA cruise from Lisbon to San Juan. Anyone else on board this cruise besides you and vanderefalk? I am planning on getting in the day before. Any recommendations on hotels in Lisbon? Looking forward to my first SD experience ! Cheers...

  20. Hello -

I posted a separate thread for a solo traveler on this particular itinerary. I didn't get any feedback. I haven't yet signed up for this cruise - but am very interested - and may pull the trigger by this weekend. This will be my first cruise on SD. I have done a solo TA on Princess before (going East to West). Just wondering how this smaller yacht is for solo travelers. Food/Drinks/Company is usually my first objective - but never having been on a small ship - and being that this is Transatlantic - I don't know what I don't know! Any general comments welcomed! Few specific questions:

    - are there any solo travelers on this TA

    - have never been prone to sea sickness - but being a small yacht, is this of particular concern - especially that time of the year crossing the atlantic

    Thanking you all in advance.

    Cheers...
