  1. I am one of these people that checks the prices of cruises daily. We have one in May, 2021 and February 2022. I have found that there are holding steady. I seen a $1000.00 drop in January but shortly after that it went back up another 1,500.00 for my European cruise. Now it’s seems to be holding steady which blows my mind as there are many cabins still available. We have booked a Sky Suite on each cruise.

    Hi Cruisers,

I will sail with celebrity the first time, so my questions might be a little "newbie". So thanks for your help.

We´ll sail the Equinox. First and only cruise ever was NCL Getaway.

    Questions are:

    - How would you compare MDR Food? On the Getaway ist was, from my point of view, OK / decent, so we chose Specialty Restaurants on Board, we are Foodies. But on Equinox, we want to eat at TG, but Murano is not our kind of menu. Sushi on 5 ist also a no-brainer, we definitely go there!!!

    - I watched some buffet videos. Dont they have burger / hot dogs on OVC? Just Mast Grill? My son is asking (of course... :-)).

    - I like cocktails, my wife is a wine lover. So we upgraded to PBP. Good choice?

Thank you so much, have a great start into the week.

    Best from Germany

I forgot to tell you to sign up for the Celebrity Captains club. It’s free and you get all kinds of benefits. The more you travel on any of Celebrity ships the more points you get.

You get stuff like discounted or free laundry, free scoops of gelato, a monthly newsletter, and a lot of other discounts.

I have only sailed on Celebrity but I can say the food was great. Even the buffet had everything you could want from salads, pasta, pizza and even ice cream. Your son will have everything he wants. The best breakfast I ever had on a cruise was on the Summit. They make everything fresh right in front of you. I love their eggs Benedict. Not only can you get food at the buffet but you can get burgers, wraps, salads, prawns, chicken sandwich’s at various other places on the ship. You might want to even try the Aqua Spa Cafe (they have a selection of healthy food and great smoothies). Pool Grill has the burgers, hot dogs and pizza.

You will also want to try Cafe al Bacio, it’s famous for its warm almond croissants. It’s place to get coffee and sweets. They have cookies, cake, and all the other sweets you could dream of. They also have an Gelateria (ice cream bar) across from Cafe al Bacio. There is a charge for it.

I would recommend you pay attention to the times they serve food in the buffet. After 10:00 pm they have limited items. But they always pasta and pizza till they close. ,

The best part it’s all free, you won’t be disappointed.

    Don’t forget room service.

I should of looked more closely as the ship I reported on was the Summit.

Yes it has changed.  The unlimited print and digital package is now digital only.  Celebrity also no longer prints out all the photos the ship photographers take on board.  You now can view them only on a screen.  We purchased the unlimited digital package on a cruise in August.  We were able to download all of the photos while still on the ship.  You also get an email one to two weeks after your cruise with a link you can use to download them from home.   As in the past, you need to check while onboard to make sure all of your photos are in your digital folder and let the staff know if any are missing so they can add them.

I was just on the Summit in December and there were lots of photos printed out so people could see or buy them. They had three digital ports were you could also look at your photos. I asked what they were going to do with the photos that people didn’t want and they said they will be shredded. I had the unlimited digital package and would go by there studio to just look over the photos they took of us. About two after the cruise ended I got an email with how to obtain all my photos.

  6. We just returned from a cruise on Celebrity Summit and found the Panini sandwiches to be great. They had all the choices of items to make your sandwich. They even had about five choices of different breads. I always made sure to get an extra one for a late night snack or  a day trip meal the next day. Sometimes I would get chicken or meat cooked to order from another location and have them add this to my panini sandwich.

This was great item added to the buffet. I don’t remember it being available every day but most of the time it was there.

I have booked B2B S1 Edge Sky Suites and may refine my reservations, so am trying to gather as much info as possible on the SS's. Since the info on SS's is scattered amongst many threads I thought I would start a thread about Edge Sky Suites.

This is what I've gathered so far (much already posted on CC, but hopefully it is helpful to get info together on Sky Suites in one thread):

    Schematic (? which type):

    edge_staterooms_sky-suitea_960x312.jpg

Here is a rendition (? which type):

    edge-class-suite-sky-suite-378x220.jpg?width=378&height=220&ext=.jpg

There is a good Edge Sky Suite mock up video you can access by googling "Celebrity Edge Sky Suite Tour". This may be an S3 mock up (someone noted a large beam to the left of the balcony which could be the Magic Carpet track). I won't put the link here since the video was made by a travel agency. It gives a good idea what the bathrooms might look like. The toilet is behind a frosted door within the bathroom, the double sink has a faucet on each end and a window over the sink looks into the living area so that you can see the ocean from the bathroom (and it must also turn into a mirror). It does not appear to have an infinite balcony.

    S1:

Largest balconies of the SS (52 total) - balconies listed as 163 sf listed. There are 12 aft S1's on decks 7-12. They are selling out fast - I have one booked for one of the legs, but was too late to get one when I added the second leg. I am hoping the aft ones have the nice big balconies with sun - hoping more info will come in about these aft S1's. There are also S1's on 10 and 11 midship. Some are on a hump, others in recessed areas - unsure about overhang.

    S2:

There are 2 accessible S2's on the 11th deck. Other S2's (64) are on 9 and 10 and seem to have the more cabin sq feet than the other SS, but smaller balconies.

    S3:

There are 28 of these SS on decks 6-12 along the Magic Carpet track. They have nice-sized balconies - there has been concern on CC about obstructed views due to the Magic Carpet and of the moving of the Magic Carpet past the balconies (though that may be a plus for some). These seem to be selling out fast, at least on the 2 cruises on which we are booked.

The video mentioned above and the rendition above may be the S3. Someone mentioned that they had heard that the bed faces the ocean in the S3, but who knows what the final set up will look like.

    From the Edge FAQs document:

Sky Family Suites (6 pairs SV + S1) are only available during Christmas and New Year’s Eve sailings. The brochure will identify that the rooms can convert to family suites. To book, you must to call Reservations as these suites will be held back. Note if they do not sell we will re-categorize to the original categories.

For those who are just coming onboard, the SS will have access to the Retreat:

    From the Edge FAQs document:

    • The Retreat Sundeck is exclusively for our Suite guests and rivals any high-end resort. This spacious outdoor lounge area makes it easy to unplug with plush, stylish furniture, a full-sized pool, and hot tubs. Dedicated Pool Butlers are at guests’ service to make sure every whim is tended to with poolside cocktails, fresh towels and refreshing treats. This is a private paradise.

    • The Retreat Lounge exclusive to suite guests (and Zenith members) is located just off The Retreat Sundeck. Inside, guests will enjoy complimentary beverages, gourmet bites, live entertainment, and a comfortable place to read the latest best-seller, catch up on current events, watch the big game, or just kick back and relax.

    • Luminae @ The Retreat is located just off The Retreat Sundeck. Inside is a warm and inviting space that has an air of a sophisticated sunroom. Boldly elegant, the interior is as distinctive as the cuisine. Not only is the restaurant exclusive, but so are its menus. Crafted by our Michelin-starred chef, the modern, this eclectic cuisine is not available anywhere else on board. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

That's a brief summary of what I have heard about the SS's so far. Will look forward to more info as it trickles out.

I am so glad you posted this. I had the same problem with several TA’s. I finally got in touch with someone at Celebrity and it was explained they originally wanted all the sky suites to have the bed facing the ocean. During the building process it wasn’t possible.

We wanted a room with a bed facing the ocean and have the ability to slide the mirror to see the ocean from the bathroom. It took several phone calls to finally find the rooms with a ocean view from the bed.

  8. We have a cruise booked in February of 2022 and it originally went down a month later ($1,000.00 ) since we booked it on board the Summit in January of this year. Two weeks ago it went up $1,000.00 and just today it went up another $1,000.00. I got my $1,000.00 credited back on my credit card. So it is now up $2,000.00 more than I originally paid back in January. I doubt it will go down past what I paid in January of 2020.

we are booked in a sky suite

  9. I have found it very difficult to find fresh flowers at the various ports. We just last visited many ports in the Southern Caribbean and was not able to find any flowers worth taking back to the ship.  I would suggest to get them on board. You can go to the Celebrity website and order them now. Yes they are a little expensive but then you will have fresh flowers in your cabin all week. Usually during the middle of the cruise they remove the ones that have wilted and freshen up the rest of the bouquet so it looks like a new arrangement.

Never been on Celebrity line.  Do they have cigar lounges?  Going on the new Apex ship next year they also have a sister ship out, does anyone know where you can have a cigar on that ship?

    thanks

Celebrity Summit use to have a cigar lounge many years ago. It is now where the retreat (formally Michael’s Club) is at now. They redid the place and it’s now a place for suite guests and Captain Club members that are Zenith.

I was on the Summit in January and the only place to smoke a cigar was near the mast bar. They have chairs and tables near the bar. I was able to buy a cigar at the bar below. They have a nice selection in a humidor on the bar top. I paid $15.00 for the one I smoked and it wasn’t bad.

I think the good old days of a cigar lounge are just about gone on cruise ships.

  11. I am looking to find a day tour from Venice to Parma. We are looking for a full day tour that would include a visit to Parma to see how the process of making prosciutto is made. We would also like to visit a cheese making operation and anything else of importance. Did you book the tour with a tour company or did you do it on your own?

Possibly we could go to another town that is recognized as the best place to see how prosciutto is Maden!

    Thanks in advance

Thanks much.   That is really helpful.    I rarely buy photos but thought with the 4 of us if we got one package we could get some really nice shots.    From some of my bookings I can see the current sale but unable to see anything on our Millennium April 30 cruise.   It is really hosed up and says under everything that it can't load and wait to buy on-board.

    Hello Jim

I have a cruise in about a year from now and am able to find the same digital package for $125.00. I think I will  wait till I can find it for $100.00 again.

  13. Hello Jim

    Hope this helps.

I was sailing on the Celebrity Summit in December and I bought a unlimited digital package for $100.00. I bought the package deal on line before we left. I got all the photos of myself and my wife anybody else that was in the photo with us. Two weeks after the cruise ended we were sent the photos electronically.

First thing you do is go to the photo studio on the ship and use your sea card to register your account. Once this is done you can go by the studio every day and look at the photos that were taken. They have several machines that display the images but they were not always working or they didn’t have the photos loaded up yet. However every evening they have several people from Celebrity there to help you.

They did have a a lot of photos taken that I could of purchased but preferred to have them digital and was glad I did. I was able to get Walmart print them in all kind of different collage packages. They cost me $2.38 each for a 8x10 of four images made into a nice collage.

  14. We were on a Celebrity summit cruise a few years ago when I heard this story:

An elderly couple were being harassed by some vendors in a port and were clearly frustrated when this young couple came along and intervened. They helped the elderly couple get back to the ship pier and got them to the celebrity rest area for some cold towels and water. They seen the couple looking up at the ship and asking what a penthouse suite must be like to stay in. Well it just so happens they had one of the suites and invited the elderly couple up to visit the penthouse suite. The elderly couple were in awe and couldn’t believe how someone could take their time out of the day to help them out of what could of been an ugly situation. To top it off they invited them to dinner at the Luminare for what they described they best meal they ever had.

  15. The shows offer guests in suites the opportunity for reserved seats in the theater. They usually only do it once or twice during a cruise. It’s usually chic night. The only reserve spots till 15 minutes before the show starts. Even though we could of used the seats we preferred to be in another location. I like being near a exit, so if the show is bad no one sees me leave.

The best show we ever seen was from the American Ballet Company a few months ago.

  16. Hello

No need to worry as we have never felt intimidated by anyone on the Celebrity Summit. As everyone has said the crew is fantastic. Don’t let anyone from the discussion groups ruin your cruise. I have found over the years to take with a grain of salt what people say here.

  17. Hello

We are looking to book the Celebrity Edge in a Sky Suite and would like to hear from people that stayed in the path of the magic carpet. Is there anyone on the platform when it moves? How often does it move.? What room were you in and was your view ever blocked? Is there any loud noises to be aware of because of people having a meal or the music on the magic carpet?

Would you book the same room or opt out for a sky suite in another part of the ship the next time? I priced both locations and it’s 500.00 more per person from one location to the other side.

    Thanks in Advance
