I have done it once on a ship before. It was pretty lame. They had had it set up so that it would end in an hour. The blinds went up so quickly that it was basically blind luck, and not skill, that determined the winner.
Wow, an hour? Sheesh. Yeah, that's crazy...

The last Carnival cruise I took, I know they had a Hold Em table (it was actually an electronic table...which I have mixed feelings on, but anyway), but I don't recall them having an actual buy in tournament...
Is that something some ships/casino's will do? If so, can you please give me a few details?
Thanks!

Tables can be a cash transaction all day long.
Slots are a different game.
You can insert cash to begin play but to cash out of the machine (unless things have changed recently) it will only pay out to you S&S card "Casino Account". Then you can play you S&S Casino account for further slot play or you can go to the casino cage and cash out you S&S Casino Account
Your S&S card has 2 separate accounts assigned to it
1. You door key and all purchases made and charged to your primary account. Everyone on the account can see it on TV or at Guest Services.
2. When plugged into a slot machine, it becomes your casino account card. Only you can see what is on or in this account. You have a separate PIN that you set up at the first slot machine you sit down to.
It is not associated with your other S&S account UNLESS you want to withdraw funds from your main account into your casino account.
You must go to the casino cage to close out and cash out your casino account.
Okay, got it. That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation! I really appreciate it.

Thanks for the quick responses! I appreciate it! Glad to know.

So...I plan on hanging in the casino a fair amount on my upcoming cruise (7 days away! woohoo), because I've heard/read that this is a decent way to help your chances of getting some nice discount offers for future cruises. Plus, I just enjoy a little gambling.
BUT....I don't want to stress my wife out if she sees a bajillion casino transactions and swings on our account summary. I'm assuming you can't just gamble at the tables with cash...? You HAVE to use your S&S account card?

I'd also like to know how the weather was, and/or the pool temps, and what the pool-side movie experience was?

Trying to decide whether or not to book the hot stone treatment thingy for the wife. Has anyone ever done one of those? Thoughts?

Can anyone tell me which dive in movies are playing? Sailing in a few weeks. Thanks!
I'd love to know too. I'll be on Carnival Triumph Feb 26th.

Shoot. Nevermind. Misunderstood. Ignore my last post.

I don't think it has. I've been paying about $250 for a kilo for the last few years, and it hasn't changed.

prepared to be slightly annoyed - and splashed, and cannon-balled.

HA HA HA. Okay, THAT was funny.
PS- I AM traveling with my family on Triumph in 3 weeks, so I'm glad to hear your thoughts on the matter. Thanks

My wife and I will be on Carnival Triumph in a few weeks, and we're big coffee drinkers. I'd love to be able to make coffee in my own room and just sit on our balcony enjoying the view...

So....wait...you can get in for roughly $20 per person...?
On Carnival's website, we were nearly ready to book this excursion for $85/pp for adults, and $75/pp for our 6 and 9 year old...
Sorry, I'm new at all of this.

Thanks for clearing this up! I appreciate it everyone!

Are there any free drinks available then? I don't recall paying for drinks, but maybe I was just getting water...??
-
Granted, I haven't been on a Carnival cruise in 3 years, but I thought soda was free?? Seems like I remember getting my pizza and fries at the buffet area near the pool, and filling up my soda cup whenever I wanted.
Am I remembering incorrectly...?

Yes.... Your son will be happy!!
Awesome, thank you!!!! :p
And thanks Jerseygirl, I see it!!

I'm confused as to what the port has to do with basketball
Sorry, I added that in there just in case someone didn't remember what ship they were on, thinking that if I mentioned the port it left from it would help jog their memory.
I can't ever remember the names of ships I've been on...but seems like only a handful of Carnival ships leave from each of the ports? Not sure, maybe that's wrong.
Sorry, was just trying to narrow it down for people.

Carnival's website and ship description don't say ANYTHING about basketball. As a matter of fact, if you search 'What ships have this' for basketball, and Carnival Triumph is not listed. But going through photographs, I can CLEARLY see a basketball goal/court. I'm wondering if those are just old photos or something...??
Anyway, my son would be over the moon if there WAS a basketball court. Just wondering if someone has been on Triumph lately and could shed some light on this.
Thanks in advance!
Do the casino's ever have Texas Hold Em TOURNAMENTS?

Yes....I know exactly what you're trying to say! When I played on my last cruise, we had four of a kind twice in three hands, and had so many flopped sets with pocket pairs in hand that it was ridiculous...
