  1. We'll be docking on a Saturday in late May at 7:00am. Our flight from Copenhagen direct to Paris leaves at 1:45pm.

I figure we'll have 3 or 4 hours to see some of Copenhagen. Could anyone recommend a private driver/guide that would show us some sights and then transfer us to the airport?

    Thank you

  2. The last time we were on a Regent cruise was 7 years ago. We had noticed that the service and food quality had steadily gone down hill over our last few cruises..... The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back was when we had to clear a table ourselves in order to sit and eat breakfast. Many of the tables were empty but had not been cleared and prepared for incoming guests. It was obvious to us that they were lacking in an adequate number of staff.

  3. My DH and I were talking about this just last night...He enjoys his bourbon straight up with a coke on the side. He has a proclivity for Knob Creek single barrel reserve but Blanton's or Eagle Rare will also do.

We will email Seabourn with our preferences and hope for the best.

  4. CraftyEC,

I appreciate the heads-up regarding the referral coupon, that's wonderful!

If I understand correctly, at the time of final payment I should post on the"sticky thread" asking if anyone has a coupon available that they would kindly share with us.

    Cheers

  5. Roxburgh, thank you for your detailed information, you have eased my mind!!!

dafne and Winner, thank you as well for your suggestions.... They do offer an excursion to Giverny from Rouen, which is an overnight stop for us, so that would be perfect.

    Cheers,

  6. We have booked our first Seabourn cruise, an 18 day "Gems of Western Europe" May 12 2015. In doing more research on the ports of call, I'm questioning the amount of interest/activities some of these destinations hold.

I realize that this is a very subjective question, but I would value your opinions on the itinerary.

The cruise commences in Barcelona where we intend to spend three days before embarkation.

These are the other ports of call in order....The first 7 ports are the ones I'm most concerned about.

    Gibraltar

    Portimao, Portugal

    Lisbon

    Leixoes (Porto) Portugal

    A Coruna Spain

    St. Helier Jersey

    Cherbourg France

    Rouen, France

    Brussels-----No worries here

    Amsterdam---No worries here

    Travemunde (Lubeck)

    Copenhagen

We love to cruise and are of the belief that the ship is a destination unto itself......Just want to have a nice balance.

  7. Don't know where OP got the info but......

I just got off the phone with Seabourn guest services. According to the young woman I spoke with, the only change to the smoking policy is that you may no longer smoke in your suite. Smoking is still allowed on the verandas!!! They are asking smokers to keep their veranda doors shut while smoking.

She said because of the "push back" from the European guests they are sticking with the current status quo.

I for one am very disappointed!!!

  8. Need clarification please.

This will be our first Seabourn cruise.

We've cruised several times with Silversea and on embarkation day have always enjoyed a buffet lunch al fresco at the La Terrazza restaurant.

Do I understand correctly that Seabourn does not do this?

  9. Hi Tony,

Early/Mid September daytime temperatures average in the low to mid 70s with low humidity. Evenings you'll need a light jacket as temperature are in the 50s.

Unfortunately I believe you'll be a bit premature for the fall foliage. The peak leaf peeping season runs from late September till mid October (on average)

Wishing you blue skies and calm seas!

    Cheers,

  10. We haven't done this cruise but thought I'd pass along my thoughts for whatever it's worth.

Boston is a wonderful!!!! Besides the obvious historical sites , Boston also has great architecture, museums and public gardens. The city is small enough that you're able to experience it on a more intimate level and the city is easily navigated.

An additional benefit to cruising in or out of Boston is that if you're able to extend your vacation, a journey through the surrounding New England area is quite lovely.

    Cheers,

    Jude

  11. Hi Judy,

I'm pleased that you are enjoying my YouTube videos. Putting these together has brought back some fond memories from our travels. It has been fun putting these together. The song on the Sorrento/Amalfi Coast video is Torna 'a Surriento (Return to Sorrento) by Sergio Franchi. It is on his Romantic Italian Songs album.

    Ron

Thank you so much Ron. It sounds like the perfect music for our upcoming Med. cruise. ;)

    Cheers,

    Judy

  12. Maybe I am missing the obvious here, but can someone explain what is up with the duct tape and power strips? Why would you need either one of those?

The power strip is because their are a limited number of outlets in the cabins....We use them to charge all of DH & DS toys.

The duct tape I have not used but have read it's to wrap around your suitcase if it gets damaged.
