  1. I have sailed the Indy and the Oasis, so I’m familiar with the layout and the ice shows, etc. That is one reason I was attracted to this ship, and hope my family will love it. Although a couple of them have sailed a Royal ship, they were older ships, before the Promenade, so I know they will like that. Where in Galveston do you suggest to book a before and after cruise hotel stay? Thank you for your honest opinion, I really appreciate it. I don’t understand why some posters on here feel the need to attack, mock, and ridicule when someone is asking for honest opinions or giving their honest reviews.

I really wish I could help you here, but we have a timeshare that allows us "free bonus" time that doesn't count against our timeshare...so, we stay there...it is the Silverleaf/HolidayInnClub on the island. You can rent there but it is an overkill for just a hotel...full kitchen and all. If we weren't staying there, we would probably just find a well rated hotel near the dock.

Sorry about the haters...it's the nature of the internet.

I can't promise you will enjoy Liberty, but Galveston is our favorite port and the people on the Liberty are our favorite...maybe because we are Texans and feel comfortable...it's a friendly factor.

    Best of luck,

    :)

  2. We probably have 15 to 20 cruises on the Liberty out of Galveston and really enjoyed the cruises.

We enjoy a junior suite or a balcony close to the elevators near mid ship. If you get a cabin forward or aft, you may spend more time walking the halls than you wish on that long ship.

The ice show is a MUST and plan on being there early...maybe 45 min just to get any kind of seat. Our last time they required people to leave that didn't have seats.

We always go a day early and enjoy the good eats we find in Galveston.

There might be a very slight feeling this is a Texas ship with the Lone Star flag displayed.

    Beds seemed fine for us.

    Food is good.

Chops is very good also. Try the goat cheese salad if you like fried goat cheese...yum.

We prefer the cruise with the Grand Caymans...but that's just us.

    Best of luck

  3. Check Trip Advisor or Cruise Critic (same company) Cozumel Excursions; no need to book through cruise line you will just overpay. There are many options (we like Mr. Sancho's, but our guys are young adults and enjoy the adult beverages; but we see young families there too). Only thing I would avoid is any excursion that involves spending half the day on a ferry to the mainland as it wastes half the day (ruins tours - do those on mainland). Never had an issue or felt unsafe in Cozumel; nice port area, clean, free wi-fi and the vendors really are not that aggressive.

I don't think you need to consider the ferry anymore:

  4. This is our second time over and we have figured out our excursions in Portugal and France...so we are good there.

We have done the Furnas Valley and would like to read some recommendations for Azores.

We have stops in Vigo Spain and LoCruna Spain that have us clueless and welcome any input.

My wife and I and four friends are interested mostly in tours and not climbing rocks or blasting our way across the landscape on four wheelers. We are in good walking shape for 60's and 70's but have no ambition to prove we still "got it".

So...we are looking for gentle and fun.

    Thanks in advance

    Cheers
