We will be embarking on the Riviera on 10/20 in Rome. Our first O cruise, just wondering how current passengers are finding the food and the ship in general. Yes, I am more than certain we will enjoy it but curious for current input

Lots of good ideas from Maui and Guest, I will add one more, the pizzeria in the evening at Waves. The pizzas are so much better than the ones in Terrace Cafe at lunch, quite a few selections for toppings.  The burrata is also worth a try. Enjoy 😊

I will admit the rep really didn't sound confident, lol.  Well, I like the way you think and will try bringing a bottle onboard....if we can find one in Barcelona that is.

Bender, I have found the best place to buy hard liquor is at a large grocery store such as Spar or Lidl. Not many liquor stores as we know them in North America. We have brought on board Scotch and vodka. Be sure to ask your room steward/butler for the appropriate mixers, if needed.

  3. Oceania does have a stated dress code, you will find it if you dig deep enough into their website. The problem is it is very rarely enforced to their own standards, so much depends on the dining venue and the ship. How people dress also depends on where they are sailing, from Northern Europe to the Caribbean to the South Pacific things change.

  4. If you go Baristas at approximately the same time every day as other coffee drinkers (addicts) you will probably see the same servers. They will get to know you and your regular order, it is always nice to give them something extra at the end of the cruise, especially if you have a difficult custom order.

  5. I have seen and heard far too many people not using common courtesy of please and thank you at the Terrace Cafe, lots of “ gimme some of that “.

When we are ‘oot & aboot on the the ship we hear a myriad of ‘merican accents 😂.

  6. We have done the Atlantic in both directions and the time changes haven’t bothered us in either direction, we still manage to get 8 hours of sack time. Judge your own sleep patterns accordingly. As always look at the itinerary, if the ports of call appeal to you or are you more interested in the sea days on the ship. Enjoy it in either direction.

  7. Chloe, I couldn’t agree more! Those are our favourites in that order. The pictures and menu of Ember look interesting, but more like a stepped up

Applebees. Definitely not part of ‘ The finest cuisine at sea’ . The idea of being rushed out in an hour and a half does well, and doesn’t make for fine dining.

  8. Jacques will be missed, it is our favourite restaurant of all the specialties. The restaurant was always aspiring to be a fine French dining experience. To be part of the slow food movement to slow down and appreciate the cuisine. The sample menu for Ember looks interesting, the pictures of the space look more like a restaurant that wants to turn over their tables to increase revenue. The hour and a half eating guide is not conducive to relaxing over a meal. For someone with time constraints there is always the Terrace Cafe, or even the GDR.
