I was though Carnival would upgrade NYC in 2021 and send two Fantasy class ships - I guess I was wrong!😂

Loved the Magic when we went out of Miami - I am not sure we are doing Carnival out of NYC anymore in the summer as the crowd is very rough and unappealing to myself and my family.

This is first summer in 7 years we are going on a different line out of NYC with the family.

Not only Carnival in the summer RCL and NCL too, try Port Canaveral it's great there.

Lol! You don’t make it to 50 years by doing things like that. This our 50th Anniversary cruise, and we have a very traditional marriage. He is the king of his castle. That’s just the way it goes. A great man, a good father, and now a great grandfather, and I respect him. No, I would never go ahead of him. We are in this together. I will deal with my stress level by leaving our rental at 5am for port. That should be more than enough time to drive the 4 hours.

Great comment grandmarnnurse....Congrats on your 50th years Anniversary cruise. The young people are not lasting more than a couple of years married. I have been married now for over 31 years, they need to start following us more.Too many hot heads getting married.

First of all, sorry that you missed the ports. From personal experience, I know how disappointing it can be.

About another ship making it later while yours didn’t, I know how infuriating that can seem. But keep in mind that various factors go into play. Ship capabilities, weather conditions at the specific time of arrival, and the Captain’s comfort level and decision making process.

In an attempt to explain your situation using aviation terms (where I have some expertise), I’m going to start by saying that not all airplanes have the same capabilities. Some have more strict wind limitations than others, and some can land in almost zero visibility while others aren’t certified to go that low. There are times when airplanes can’t make it into an airport due to winds/visibility and they need to divert, but 30 minutes later the conditions have improved enough for other airplanes to land safely and within limitations. While not exactly the same, similar factors most likely apply to cruise ship operations

Maybe at your specific time of arrival, winds were not conducive to safe docking while an hour or two later they could’ve been. but by then, the window to go to Nassau so that the ship would have enough time to cover that distance and at least give you a day in port would’ve been missed. Rather than bobbing around near Grand Turk waiting for conditions to maybe improve, and then potentially missing the chance to go somewhere else and thus being forced to have even more disappointment with another day at sea, it seems that Carnival made the right decision under the circumstances to go to Nassau..

There are many behind the scenes factors and people involved that go into making these decisions, several which are beyond the comprehension of the average passenger. Decades of training an experience are many times hard to condense into a few sentences which passengers can understand, which in turn leaves many feeling the way that you’re feeling.

Once again, sorry to hear that your original ports of call were canceled and that you went to Nassau instead, but I’m confident that the decisions made were with safety as the top priority, and giving you the best vacation possible under the circumstances as a second priority. And that, in my humble opinion, is more than enough compensation.

Love your expertise , as a pilot too, this was well said.

I thought I read that you can order as many appetizers as you wanted in the Steakhouse but only one entree. Is this correct? If so, there is no way I could decide on my own what I would have. What say you...

    A. Bone Marrow and Beef Tartar (I've always wanted to try this but is usually too high end for my wallet).

    B. Risotto (With Crab...just YUMMO)

    C. Baked Onion Soup (My all-time fav!)

Not sure if that is correct !!Had dinner there over 15 times never asked for more :)

I am so excited, after a several year hiatus from carnival, we are booked on carnival sunrise out of Ny in September! I’m platinum on carnival, but we’ve been on several celebrity, princess and NCL cruises in the last few years because we were usually able to get a better deal. But this time we are going with our 2 boys who will both still be little at the time of the cruise, and 2 connecting rooms on carnival worked out to be cheaper than anything else during the time we were looking to go.

we’ve always had a good time on carnival, and my husband actually prefers the food on carnival to the other cruise lines. I’m looking forward to seeing how much has changed since our last cruise. And I can’t wait to see my guys having all new experiences! We took my oldest on a cruise a few months ago when he was only 8 months old, and he had a blast. Hopefully cruising with 2 won’t be that much harder than cruising with only 1.

Welcome back and enjoy. I have been on RCL,and NCL, but prefer Carnival better, will be Platinum on my next trip in July 2020.

I have a cruise in September but no spa passes are available for purchase right now. Do they go on sale closer to final payment date or is it possible they are already sold out?

Just keep checking to see when they open up, also you can purchase when you board the ship.

I made reservations for two nights in The Steakhouse on The Panorama in May and didn't have to prepay. Never heard of that.

They just introduce the prepay a couple of months ago.I was on the Breeze in July 2019 and you did not have to prepay. That's has changed now, I have a cruise booked on the Breeze for July 4, 2020, and went in to make res and you have to pay ahead.Once you are onboard you can it's different.

We booked the Steakhouse with the new reservation system where we had to prepay. My dad isn’t coming now. When I go to my documents to select edit, it only gives me the option to cancel the whole reservation. Not actually edit the reservation.

Should I wait until I get on board to change the number of guests for the reservation?

I wonder how the refund will be handled. I really don’t care as long as I get it!

Just cancel the reservation and re-book a new one.

We were in Jamaica in November and were very surprised how clean it was!  Do NOT fear Jamaica.  Make a plan to do something - not just grab a taxi to the beach.  Jamaica is wonderful, and has so much to offer.

However, that being said, I love the 8 day itinerary on Magic.  Maybe see is you can upsell into an OV!  That would be my choice! #2

Remember, Bermuda is a long ways from everything - so take sea days into consideration

I agree , Jamaica has more attractions than most, if not all the Caribbean Islands.

I'm debating between a 6 night cruise on Carnival Magic (Miami -Sea - Half Moon Cay - Grand Turk - Amber Cove - Sea) and a 7 night cruise on Carnival Breeze (Port Canaveral - Sea - Amber Cove - St. Thomas - San Juan - Grand Turk - Sea).  The price per person, per day is roughly the same, so obviously the Breeze is about $500 more.  From the little bit of research I have done, it looks like Breeze is a better option because it's a newer ship with nicer decor, and PC is a much better embarkation port (and it's about half the distance from my home).  I haven't sailed out of Miami (yet), but I've been to the city, and I hate the traffic and the rude people.  I'll be driving to the port, so airport transportation is not an issue.  I've never been to any of the ports of call, and it will be me and my 2 daughters ages 13 and 8 1/2.

I am familiar with HMC and have been to Princess Cays; I know it's just a free beach day.  So the main difference between both is an extra day on Breeze, and the addition of San Juan and St. Thomas.

Which itinerary would you pick and why?

I have been on the Magic, 3 years ago, It's a very nice ship. But I prefer the Breeze and Port Canaveral much better. It's a much nicer port and the people are friendly, I will be back there on the Breeze in July 2020.
