I’m sailing carnival sunrise . Any info for New York to Bermuda leaving Monday ?

Just called Carnival and no change posted. Carnival said to check back tonight around 6pm Eastern time. Also said once you are on the ship, it is the captain's discretion to go where he sees fit.

  2. We were on a cruise with Richard Simmons once. He brought his weight loss group with him. it was fun sited him around the ship. Carnival does celebrity sailings which you probably pay a significant up charge for. I know New Kids on the Block do a quick 3 or 4 day sailing every year and then there are the country western star cruises.

  3. I booked cabin 7329 on Sunshine. I have had several ext afts before. Cabins 7327 and 7324 are significantly smaller than the other 8m's on deck 7. They have no sofa or coffee table and def have less sq footage in the cabin. the ext balcony seems to be the same. If you are paying extra money for an ext aft why are the 2 end 8m's not cheaper? I got stuck in one of the smaller 8m's on the Breeze and was not happy. You can go to the deck plans on the carnival website and view the layout or 360 view. All 8m's show no sofa or table. Only the details tell u if there is a sofa and table. They get away with this by saying everything is representative of this type of cabin. If you love ext afts beware of the smaller ones!

  4. noticed on a September sailing of the dream that the only aft balconies available are on deck 6, and they are all available! is there an issue with this location? I've read that the aft balconies are awesome so I'm real curious about the lack of sales on this deck.

I don't know about noise but I looked at the deck plans and the details and all the cabins are the same size. No surprises in finding a smaller cabin than the other ext afts. i always get an ext afts and love them as long as they are reg size.

  5. Hi all

Considering booking one of the above for New Years cruise, never done aft cabin before - always have midship balcony. Can anyone tell me if it's more noisey? I.e sound of wake, docking etc? Do you hear lots of noise from top deck areas?

    Many thanks

Depending on the ship, some are smaller than others. I know on the Breeze and Sunshine afts next to the corner wraps on deck 7 are smaller cabins. They don't have a sofa or coffee table and sometimes their tvs are in awkward places, like over the bed making difficult to watch. If you want to make sure you get the normal size ext aft, go to the Carnival web site, click on explore , get ship's deck plans and go to the cabin you want. Click on the details, amenities and 360 degree video. The details should say sofa and coffee table, if it doesn't you picked the smaller afts. The ones in the middle should be regular size. Even some PVPs don't know the difference. So if cabin size matters do your homework. I was stuck on the Breeze a couple years ago in the smaller ext aft and I was not happy. BTW the balcony is still a larger size. Good luck, we always book ext afts for the view and tranquility they provide. They are just amazing!

  6. Cruise itineraries won't be affected.

Use a good insect repellent on exposed skin and spray repellent on your clothes and hat.

Stand next to someone with an O blood type  Mosquitoes will go after an O blood type before other blood types. (my husband is O, I am A. I joke I won't leave his side on excursions).

I am an O, no wonder that they love me!

  7. Will the Zika Virus affect my summer cruise to the Caribbean? A couple of years ago we sailed out of Long Beach to Mex. All my excursions were privately booked. We sailed toward Mex, got to Puerta Viarta to drop off a medical problem. Turned around and headed back to Long Beach. All ports were cancelled due to the WHO's recommendation about Swine Flu. A great deal of passengers were upset. I had a good time - a lot of free alcohol. The upshot was, obc and 1/2 off our next cruise. We did get to go to San Francisco for a night, but it bucketed rain and was very cold. A lot of people wanted to go back to Long Beach and debark early, but we enjoyed our total sea day cruise. We made lemonade out of lemons! Hope this doesn't happen again.

  8. Hey all, I got really lucky yesterday and was able to upgrade my 2 connecting balcony rooms to 2 balcony rooms on the Lido deck on the Breeze. They are no longer connecting because we have 3 in 1 room and 4 in the other. Last year we were on floor 11 on the Breeze. Anything I need to keep in mind regarding noise, etc? We have rooms just before the glass doors leading to the pool. Im a bit excited because we never had rooms on the Lido deck. Thanks all

I had the room next to the double doors on the Splendor. I was worried about noise, esp since the big screen seemed to be next to my cabin. I never heard a peep and it was the most convenient room I have ever had. You will love it.

  9. I'm in room 7439 on the glory next month and I've been worried ever since I booked it. I don't know what the correct catchy name is for this cabin but it's right before the wraparound balcony. We have a long balcony but our room is oddly configured (broken up by the crew stairs) and I understand that you have to practically climb over the bed to get to the bathroom. I'm excited about the balcony. Just hope it's worth it when we see the room.

Hope this helps. From the Carnival web site, Carnival Glory deck plans.

Go to Deck 7 and click on cabin number. Look at 360 views and floor plan.

  10. I just booked the Pride for next June 2017 and I LOVED the aft on the Legend so much I just booked 3 Aft balconies in a row for my family, my mom/dad and my sister/BIL. now I'm scare because of the reviews about the 'movement'. I don't remember much movement.. some vibrations on the legend occasional but not rocking.. I just remember how awesome it was at sailaway, sunset and in general watching the wake...

also.. do the partitions open on the aft balconies??

Thoughts?? Should we stick with our 3 afts?

    Thanks

    Diane

I love the ext afts, just make sure you have a sofa and coffee table, if that matters to you, b/c the afts next to the corner wraps arw sometimes considerably smaller than the middle ext afts. Check Deck Plans, click on cabin and check the 360 view, layout and details.

  11. Would those odd TV set ups be the same on deck 5? Or no, because there are no aft wraps on that deck?

I don't believe so, but check Sunshine Deck 5 Plans on the carnival website. Click on the cabin and check out the details, 360 degree views, floor plan. that should tell you what you want to know. Don't depend on PVP's b/c sometimes they are mistaken. Good luck!

  12. We had the aft extended balcony on the Legend, and I had heard stories also, but we didn't have any issues at all - loved being at the back of the ship and watching the wake...

I love these balconies, just be careful of the ones next to the aft corner wraps. On some ships they are considerably smaller cabins. Just check Deck Plans, 360 degree view and cabin layout to make sure your cabin has a sofa and love seat. Most of our ext afts had these sofas and coffee table, but the Breeze, Deck 7, next to the corner wrap did not. I always make sure we get our money's worth on ext afts by making sure we have the ones with a coffee table and sofa. Otherwise the TV can only be watched by laying at the end of the bed and the cabin is significantly smaller. Balcony is still bigger, but I want the normal size room also.

  13. Anyone stayed in either of these cabins? It is the first aft cabin after the wrap balcony. I wanted to know about the cabin layout. I remember someone posting about some of the aft balcony cabins where the TV's were on the wall behind the bed. You had to lay with your head at the foot of the bed to watch TV. Anybody had a room like this? Any pictures of either cabin would be appreciated. Thanks

These cabins seem to have no sofa or coffee table, even though the details on the Carnival web site say they do. Go to Deck plans, Carnival Sunshine, click on Deck 6 and then 360 degree layout or floor plan. There are no sofas or coffee tables in these layouts, but the details say they do. Stayed in one of these smaller ext aft on Breeze and was very disappointed. Balcony is normal ext aft size, but room is much smaller, esp if you have to lay at end of bed to see the tv. Get a middle ext aft.

  14. Curious to know how are the Aft Extended Balcony cabins?? We've had balcony cabins before they were awesome but never "Aft". Heard some good very little bad. What's your opinion? Specific sailing is Valor just after Dry Dock yay!! Aft Cabin Empress Deck cabin #7451. Any thoughts??

Just be careful of Deck 7 aft balconies. The afts next to the corner wraps are much smaller then the middle afts on so e ships.. To check on your aft, go to Deck plans for your ship, click on your cabin number, click on details. The bigger afts say sofa and coffee table. If they don't say that you have a significantly smaller cabin, but the same larger balcony. We had the smaller cabin on Deck 7 on the Breeze a few years ago and we were very disappointed in the cabin size. We always book ext afts and only ran into the smaller cabin, next to the corner wraps, on the Breeze. So when I booked Deck 7, ext aft, I checked on the cabin details and discovered the same thing. The ext afts next to the corner wraps are smaller, so we booked a middle ext aft for our Journey's Sunshine cruise in 2016.

  15. We are scheduled to leave on Sunday out of NOLA on the Dream. Looking at weather forecasts for the ports we will stop has a cloudy day in Cozumel and the others not yet available.

Two things I know about the weather:

    1.) You can't control it

2.) You can't depend on forecasts this far out.

But I began to wonder---have you ever been at sea days or in ports when it was less than what you had hoped for? Are excursions cancelled in cases like these? We've been on 8 trips, and with the exception of our first trip to Freeport where it was cloudy and sprinkled, I don't recall another cloudy overcast day.

We were on the Splendor when they cancelled all our Mex ports due to WHO Swine Flu alert. We got back our port fees and 1/2 off next cruise. Were we disappointed? Oh, yes, but accordint to the cruise contract they have to keep us safe. Our next cruise is to PR and Caribbean islands. Will the Zika Virus impact us? Who knows, but I will be happy to be on my aft balcony if that happens!

  16. We want to book a cruise next summer and looking at two different routes. Both on Magic. Prices comparable. Both are 8 days. Anyone have any recommendations???

Eastern (Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Kitts, St. Maarten)

    Southern (Aruba, Curacao, Grand Turk)

    TIA

I have done both and I love the Southern, esp Aruba.

  17. Are there two departure ports in New York--Manhattan and Cape Liberty?

Which one did you leave from? Do you know if the Sunshine always leaves from the same port? (We will be doing a New England/Canada cruise this fall.)

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I think Carnival only departs from NYC, next to the Intrepid floating museum. I have departed on several NYC Carnival cruises and have only left from the dock in NYC. Cape Liberty is for RC and maybe Norwegian.
