Good to know. We've been trying to figure this out for our cruise. Is there anyone else you should tip while in Star Class?
-
After sailing on Viking Serenade twice, and then Song of America...we thought that all cruise ships were that size. We couldn't believe how large Enchantment was!
Our travel agent booked us on Song of America, with the standard booking statement, 2 twin beds together to make a King size.
When we entered our stateroom, we found that one of the beds was a knee height Pullman that folded down from the side wall. The other bed doubled as the sofa and was at the far end of the room, under the window.
We waved goodnight! :D
The Viking Serenade was our first cruise ship. Had to be the worse cabin because it must have been over the anchor compartment. We woke to the sound of the anchor dropping every morning. It was small for two adults and one 9 year old. He enjoyed it.
Sad to say it is on its way to be scrapped even as we speak.
Sound of Norway was sold to China and became the MS Formosa. She was scrapped in 2013.

Sounds like one of the Amphitheatre 2 BR Suites.

You will not want for anything in Star class. It was truly an amazing experience. It’s been a year since we had our Star class and It was one of my favorite all time vacations. We had Susan on the Allure as our Genie. The room stewards ( you have 2) were also quite special. I hope you have a fabulous time!!

The more I learn from this forum the more excited I am about the trip. Plus all the tips means I won't be fumbling around the first couple of days. I will hit the deck running.
Thank you all.

My last few cruises I booked through a agent that was part of larger network.

I think on Celebrity they could do it. We only allowed charging on the adult cards and none on the children's. I would think Royal Caribbean would be able to do it.
-
I heard some cruises give discount to first responders. I don't know if that is true or not.

It appears the ships dock on the starboard side. Is this correct?

If you will be in a Star Class suite, you will have access to the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen, which are much better than the perks in the Diamond Lounge.
Gold members may get some coupons for things, but nothing comes to mind that would not be eclipsed by what you get as a Star Class guest.
Thank you,

Do you start at Gold and work up and how does it work? What does it give convey to the member?.
I looked at my status after booking and I am at Gold level. We are going in a Star Class Royal Suite this cruise and I know that has a ton of perks. Does the Gold give me anything additional?
I keep hearing Diamond, Diamond Plus, Pinnacle (my golfball) and I know there is a Diamond Lounge on the ship so I figure I can't go there..
Thank you.

I am hoping to get CK for my first lunch.

Three sodas a day and you're even.

I was told that the genies can and will override all stops when they are using them for Star Class passengers. I don't know if this is true or not.

Tried it online for 09/02 trip. $47 for deluxe or $61 w/ Voom.

If you reserve an OTW and due to weather, etc., it cannot be used. Will they refund or credit the money?

The genie makes everything work, especially if you pre-book a week or two out. Had eight Genie cruises and never once been told they can not accommodate, even with a party of eight or ten and changing mid-voyage.
Thank you. The specialty restaurants and the OTW cabana are our big wishes.

Does the genie always come through with reservations. Seems like the specialty restaurants will be booked before he/she is expected to contact us,

But to make a blanket statement like that condemning an entire company for what may have been an isolated incident is both narrow minded and irresponsible. Possibly thousands were trying to check in when you were trying to board.
I don't know the situation you encountered. Did you ask the best time to try to board or did you arrive early when everyone was trying to board? Did you consider boarding later as it may have been better because most of the traffic had already been processed and more resources were available.
In any event, I hope my situation in September doesn't mirror yours, but if it does, while I may be severely irritated, I'm not going to make a global statement saying the entire company is bad. -

The only problem I had was when they sat us at a table with a bunch of children whose parents ate at a different sitting. I complained to the maître'd who changed us. I asked why he would do that and he said we had two children so he thought we would like it.
I don't think I tipped him much for his assumptions. I hope he liked it.

Our room on the Allure will sleep 8, but it's pricey. The good thing is after the first two at full fare, each additional passenger is less than $1,000 so you can average it out.

ID, pass, CC, and some cash in my front pocket.
Chops

I noticed on the MDR menus, they have some Chops items for an upcharge, but at least you don't have to pay the service fee on top of it.
