  1. there are several posters here cruising August 12th, who have 18 - 21 years olds... and per the Royal Caribbean App, there is a mixer for that age group the first night.. I think its at midnight (?). Mine are 18 and just 21, but the 21 yr old doesn't drink. There will be lots of time at spent at the Flowrider and rock climbing wall !

Thanks, please let me know how it works out, we don't sail til New Year's!

  2. Thanks for a great and thorough review! We sail for New Year's but different stops, so I appreciate your details on the ship and sea days.

As far as transportation from MCO with Cortrans...did they pick you up at your hotel or did you hotel shuttle back to the airport that morning?

I think I read you booked their later departure, was it crowded?

As for pictures, can you share some of the locations for where they were? Trying to get some good family photos on this trip. Wife has convinced me to wear my uniform, so would prefer to pre-plan where we need to go to get a good pic and then be able to change for the New Year's Party.

    thanks again!

  3. We had a similar problem on a cruise on the Mariner with friends. Everyone except one of the kids was under 18 yrs old. It was a high school graduation gift for two of the kids, one just turned 18 and the other wouldn’t be 18 for two months. We went to guest services and asked if the 18 year old could have her card punched like she was under 18 so she could hang out with everyone. It took some convincing, but they finally relented. Now she wasn’t allowed to go into the club or casino, as you have to be 18, but she was fine with that! Doesn’t hurt to ask, and be persistent! Good luck!

Thanks, that's definitely worth a shot. I get he can hang out and try to meet people his age, but of the two he's less apt to just start talking with folks so I had hoped the older teen group would have other seniors that maybe he could bond with. My fault for not checking the rules first (assumed as a senior still in school he'd be ok) so we'll just play it by ear. Don't see him ever going to the casino, and while he may think it sounds cool, I don't see him hanging out in the club but we'll see! Thanks again.

  4. Here’s a teen compass from Harmony. The one from Oasis will be similar.

Unfortunately your 18YO won’t be allowed in the teen program.

Yeah he turns 18 just prior, we didn’t know til after we booked that he wouldn’t be able to hang with them. Kinda stinks that he’s still a high school senior so would be great if he could hang with similar kids.

    Thanks for the compass.

  5. I know it’s dated now, but just came across this and very much appreciate your thorough review! We sail New Years week with a soon to be 14 year old daughter who’s our picky eater, and son who will turn 18 just prior. Hoping she’ll enjoy the teen activities and hopefully he can find someplace to settle in as well, since at 18 even though still in high school RC won’t let him hang with the 17 year old crew.

  6. This is a really old thread and many things have changed. If you’re just getting the soda package the coke logo is printed on your card. Some other packages still use stickers.

Your seapass card will already have either the printing or the sticker when you get it. On some ships you get the card at check in, on other ships (mostly quantum class) you get the card in your room

Thanks. I knew it was old, but also knew one of you rockstars would fill me in.

We got the ultimate drink package, so just wondered how it would work for us. Thanks again.

  7. I just booked the entertainment for our November cruise, including the Comedy Show in the theater on night 1 at 9:00. Sure enough - Cats is scheduled for 8:00!

Yep, comedy is listed every night in the opal, despite the conflict with the major shows. I think it’s a mistake, but not sure when they’ll fix it.

  8. That’s strange. I can’t recall having ever seen any one of the broadway plays being shown on the last evening. Perhaps Cats is incorrectly listed. Either way one of them is wrong.

What nights is Cats listed. There should be 3 showings with one being a matinee

Thanks, I think they figured it out....it’s now on days 1,2, and 7, but day 7 is now at 230 instead of at night.

Entertainment listed way early for this cruise, so I anticipate some of this will continue to change.

  9. They are now offering an adult comedy show in the opal theatre on the last night. This can be reserved in addition to the comedy club that offers multiple showing earlier in the week. The family friendly comedy show cannot be reserved and is on night 7 but at 9:00 (or close to it) instead of the adult show on night 7 which is at appx. 10:00.

I would expect both shows to be very similar as it’s the same comedians.

Here’s a recent cruise compass showing both comedy shows on night 7.

Thanks for the reply, and the compass. Only prob is Oasis is showing Cats in the Opal on the last night so I’m still not thinking comedy there as well.

  10. Appreciate all the info, would have preferred to not do a New Year cruise but tied to high school break.

Heading on Oasis 30 December so this should be fun. Was going back and forth on whether or not to dress to the nines for the first formal night but realizing that it’s also New Year’s Eve will probably go all out. Anyone have thoughts on onboard tuxedo rentals… I’ll likely just wear my formal uniform but will need something for my 18-year-old.

Also (please excuse the dumb question from the newbie), does this change effect our standard 8pm dinner reservations in the MDR?

  11. go to user cp top left

    edit options on the left

    thread display options

    uncheck show signatures

save changes at the very bottom

THIS!!!!!! (y)Of all the tips (I'm on about 1600 of 2500!), this was by far the one I wish was on page 1!!!! THANK YOU!:beer-mug:

  12.

Oh, and since every one seems to have an opinion on the subject of sports/duct tape, I bring sports tape but it is for use on the GF. She is a screamer. Seriously, you never know when something will rip/tear/break and at those times you would be willing to $50 for a single strip of a $5 roll. Then again, in a true emergency, ask your cabin steward or at the guest relations desk and they will probably help you out.

Zip Strips. Again, yes, but for the GF. I also use them on the luggage to know if someone entered it. It has never been opened on the ship but getting onto the ship, about a third of the time my luggage has been opened/searched.

Dude, you crack me up! I hope I meet someone with your sense of humor on our trip!:')
