  1. We’re not going until September but this thread prompted me to get my husband to change the batteries in our Air Tags as they will be a year old in September and that’s supposedly the  lifetime of the batteries.  All sorted.

I'm with you.  I just don't get it why every space everywhere one goes must have music.  And on a ship at sea it is nice to just hear the person you are with or even just the sound of the ship.

But let’s keep the birds tweeting in the rest rooms please😀

Not a SS pkg afficianato, but I think the $$ limit on covered cocktails is $18 now (up from $15). So the pkg is not going to cover the expensive Torshavn drinks anyway.

We don’t drink a lot & DH is generally fine with the included wines. Our bar bill on Saturn just completed (July 5-19) was less than $150.

I think, looking at Torshavn’s menu, the SS pkg covers all but 2 of the ‘spirited cocktails’. Going for the most expensive gin, vodka, scotch etc. might take you over the $18 limit, depending what they charge for mixers - can’t remember from last year if mixer was included in cost of price on menu🤔

We only like non stop flights now that we are older. When we were young, flights didn’t bother us😀

    Going to Australia -

We did three day stops at Singapore outwards and Hong Kong coming home and went Business Class. Wonderful !!!🤣

I agree, certainly in respect of long haul flights & especially when having to transfer through Miami, which from our experience is the worst airport.

Wonderful - I had the Green Tea with Jasmine Flowers last year & we went for afternoon tea another twice as tea was so lovely 😀

I don't remember ever getting emails from Viking on excursions that I book.  I keep track of it myself.  Eventually, they all appear in the final edocs that get sent out.

However, you can always look online on MVJ on your calendar to see the excursions that you booked, as they appear there (although it isn't as convenient).

Yes I regular check MVJ especially as it gets nearer the date - just in case it opens up early - fat chance 😂😂

I wouldn't worry about excursion booking either.  This is a manufactured "perk" for Viking.  We always book DV cabins and have never had issues getting what we want.  If not available to pre book it will probably get worked out by the excellent staff once onboard.  And the British Isles cruise would be very easy to book private tours if you chose to.

I agree - we’re in a DV cabin & our excursions opened up last Saturday for our cruise in September, we got what we wanted - granted, we didn’t book non-included excursions for every port but there seemed to be availability.

I have photocopies, in triplicate, of every document I could ever imagine I might need or could be asked for and carry it all in a backpack on all excursions. Never hurts to be fully prepared!

My husband is of the opinion that, that looks like the amount I pack/take with us 😂😂

  9. I checked thoroughly but did not find a magnifying mirror - the usual place would be the bathroom but none there.  The mirror in the desk is very handy but definitely isn’t magnifying. So pleased I took my own or would have really struggled with eye makeup😱

The tea is dire, the water is never boiled, just heated, so the tea is lukewarm. The tea bags are decent but not the best. Take your own and ask for a kettle in your room.

Biggest cups are in the buffet, if you want a mug take your own

My beverage of choice is Jasmine Green Tea with a slice of lemon, so take my own tea, get the room steward to exchange the Nespresso machine for a kettle and, alongside a bucket of ice (for our nightly G&T), lemon was delivered daily to our room. Great service 😀👍

Hello Hobson - I am curious about Viking pricing for UK residents. We paid around $16K US for our two week Australian/New Zealand cruise and about the same for our two week upcoming Italy/Adriatic/Greece cruise. Both are for a DV4 category cabin. Wondering if is approximately the same for UK residents. Thanks for sharing if you don't mind.

It’s very difficult to work out, what with varying exchange rates & included flight prices from US as opposed to flights from UK, but I don’t think there would be a lot in it.  From what I’ve read on this forum however, it does seem that TA’s in US are allowed to give more discount, OBS etc. than TA’s in UK. Also I never seem to see the offer codes discussed on CC.

The excursions are priced in sterling for U.K. passengers so no currency conversion for those. Any reminder gets converted to dollars for on board spend.

Duh!!!  Apologies, of course they are - don’t know what I was thinking, just put it down to me having a senior moment 😂
