None of the above.

Take all the meds you can, and hide it. I read where a kid filled out the questionare and lied saying he was sick and the whole family lost their cruise.I find this a little hard to believe as most lines have a procedure that they follow. Once they identify someone via the questionnaire, that person is then examined by medical staff of the ship to determine whether it is safe to board them.
If a lying kid continued to lie and convinced the medical personnel that he/she was sick......well, all I can say is that if I were the parent that kid would be in serious trouble.
BELIEVE IT. There was thread on this not too long ago. I don't remember if the kid was examined, although I don't think so ,but they were denied boarding.

Both Sandals and Rendezvous are Adult Only.
When looking at prices, keep in mind that the 38.00 for Rendezvous is a half day pass.

And I stand by my comment. :p

Mancunian,
I have suspected for some time that some of the negative CC's posts about open dinning experiences, like the one you referenced in your post, are made up or fictionalized by those who are so much against the concept. There are posters on this forum who want to see open dinning go away and I think some are making up stories hoping that HAL will read them and end it. Our own experience with open dinning on the Volendam was exactly like yours above and I think many more are in favor of the AYWD concept than against it.
I think this comment it outright rude and uncalled for. You have taken one cruise with AYW and yours worked out fine. Like it or not, there are some others that have had some problems.

I am fasinated by the onboard management's portrayal of the crew's feelings about open versus fixed seating and tipping above and beyond the hotel surcharge.
Think about it. It makes perfect sense. Tips are going to be less. Prior to AYW there was a percentage of people who tipped extra because of the service they were receiving from the same person every night.
Some of these people are now doing AYW with a different server every night. How many that have AYW tip extra ? IMO the majority of extra tips are only being received in traditional. Sure, they take turns, but prior to AYW they all had an equal oportunity to receive extra tips on every cruise, not just when they work the traditional dining room.

LOL :D All this "hull" talk reminds me of Oracle with their multihull boat and the ongoing court battle over the Americas Cup Challenge.
Anyone remember the "tenders" on the Norway ? Little Norway I and Little Norway II were both registered boats and were huge. :)

RR18,
There is no excuse for not having your reservation handled properly.
-
I agree with Ruth. Very few people want 8:30. I would think there would be no lines or beepers at that time of the night!
IMO when Hal went to the 4 dining times it was a mess. Those that wanted late did not want 8:30. I think 8:30 was at the bottom of the list for most and very few wanted it.
-
Not for me. The floating hotel is not the part of the cruise that I go for - I could do that at a fancy hotel with bigger rooms. I want the ports and the 'at sea' experience.
My exact thoughts. :)

Funny how it was not that long ago, that late seating was the one that filled faster and passengers would be defaulted to early seating. I wonder why there has been a noticable shift in preference, on most sails.
I never found this to be true on a Hal cruise. Early always filled up first.

As an update, my parents boarded the Noordam on Saturday 10/20 with AYWD and wanted to change (medical reasons and food allergies are their concerns) and were told no. They had to stick with AYWD and reservations were taken every day from 8AM onward for that evening and no reservations could be made for the 6PM to 8PM time period (which, they don't care, since they took 5:30PM for first night out).
So, it appears that, for this sailing at least, there was not going to be any adjustment on percentages of tables for AYWD and "assigned".
BTW, anyone who may remember me, my parents are the computer illiterate twosome ;) , but we happened to be on the NCL Spirit which was docked next to them, and they used their cell phone a LOT that first afternoon  (I can't wait to get this months' bill!! )
Happy cruising! :)
I am glad to hear your parents are making out ok.:)
Sorry to hear they are not adjusting things like someone reported on another thread.

If that's the case, then it is obvious traditional is not very popular. There is no way HAL is gonna be able to effectively track this. The problem, in my opinion, is that the dinner hours in the Lido are far too restrictive. If someone is late getting back to the ship from port, chances are they would have missed the dinner service in the Lido anyway, since it ends by about 7:30 p.m. So, where do they eat? In the AYW dining room, of course! Perhaps if HAL extended the Lido dinner service hours on port days, more people would do the right thing and just go up there if they missed their early seating time in Traditional.
It's a thought anyway.
Blue skies ...

Agree. I always thought the Lido hours were too short.
As far as tracking who eats where, it probably won't make a difference. They are not going to make a scene and turn people away. They have difficulty enforcing dress code, and things related to kiddies, I don't see where dining would be handled any different.

Booking 11 months out and not being able to get Traditional is lousy.
Carole, I hope you get your dining request.
-
Actually, I think it hysterical. Nice job, Heather.
Ditto !!
ROTFLMAO !!!! :D This is the funniest thing I have seen on this board in a long time.
-
Heather, I agree with you.
The positive far out weighs the negative on the Hal board.
I have noticed one thing. It is ok to think AYW is wonderful, but any objections to it's pitfalls are being met with some posts that do nothing to add to the discussion. They only focus on tearing apart every word from some posters.
-
I don't believe you could have any way of knowing that. Regardless, who cares whether any member of any niche was polled. What matters when polling is that you poll a normalized sample of your target market.
How do you know if anyone was polled ?
-
What makes you think they haven't? I believe some people are making that assumption solely because (1) that they weren't personally consulted and (2) they don't like what the normalized data seems to be indicating.
Not one person on this board was polled or asked.

We all get fuzzy brained every now and then ! :D
-
:) Rev, You are forgiven ! Sorry I wasn't clear. :)
Am I ever glad we got that cleared up !!
-
Rev,
I am totally confused !! For the life of me I can't figure out your post.
Ruth,
My comments had nothing to do with any of your posts. I don't understand the Rev's post either.
My comments were generalized and refer to those posts that seem to brush off AYW dining for solo cruisers as no big deal. IMO they do not understand solo cruisers.
-
There are many other posts, both by this person and by several others, but some of most vicious of them have been pulled.
I agree there have been many sarcastic and nasty posts, many have been deleted, including posts on this thread.
Roz and the other singles,
I am not single but I can fully understand how this impacts your cruise.
There is an attitude from some that I find uncaring and sometimes cruel. Maybe someday when they find themselves alone, they might "get it".;)

What is going on is AHW("As Hal Wishes").
Early Upper (Closed) and Main Upper (Waitlisted) are Traditional.
Why the the open seating times are listed and Closed and Waitlisted is beyond me, but Hal's web site is not known to be very good with things.
IMO, Hal wants you to commit to AHW.
-
Bob, this is absolutely mind boggling to me!!! I couldn't agree more and of course I'm a broken record about this. I know I must annoy people, but what the heck is going on here?
Waitlisted for Traditional 8 months out???? And we're told that the majority are clammoring for As You Wish/Open/Freestyle, etc.?????
I DON'T THINK SO, HAL!!!!!
In Ms. Brown's article here on CC she states that people don't like being "forced" to eat at a certain time. Well, my reply is that people don't like being "forced" to accept AYW dining!!!!
Someone has got to get a grip and figure out the percentages here because right now they are royally s****ing things up for an awful lot of people.
You are not annoying me. ;)
I don't get it either. If this is so popular why the wait list 8 months out ?

I agree with the BSQ. Go to Trip Advisor. There are forums plus lot of reviews on all the hotels and resorts. ;)
