  1. am also looking into this, I wanted to wait until being onboard (less than 2 weeks) to get a great deal for a xmas cruise, but right now, this deal is really good.. and only $25/person deposit...

Would I get extra waiting to book onboard, right now, drink package and $300 obc is quite good for a 7 night cruise...

  2. Hi,

It will be our 2nd cruise soon (just me and my hubby) on Celebrity, and we love it.

We were thinking of doing a Holiday Cruise, back to Royal for December 2018

Celebrity is offering better prices (with drinks and tips) than Royal, and with all the extra Royal now charges, room service, etc. I am leaning towards Celebrity

Our kids, well the 2 boys will enjoy the casinos, shows, drinks, the islands on both ships are great...

the 20yr old daughter, she wont have the drink package, but she loves shows, good food, hanging around, islands

They have not cruised much, Disney, and Royal (in their teens)

    thanks for any advice

  3. wow!! thanks so much, pics are amazing, i will go start reading your review.. As I said, I will wait until I am on Celebrity in 3 weeks to book, to try to get something extra, because omg, cant believe how expensive the restaurants are, but hey, like any other venue on land..

I think we need to try it, the kids want to try it, just need to decide on the ship, Indy 5 days, or Oasis, 7 days,

  4. thanks, guess now I want for my TA to contact me, not sure she works on Sundays.

As for me being a Diamond, and should know this answer, I would not be posting if I did.. Honestly...

I have never changed cabins before, this cruise, its women only, we have 2 cabins, insides, 4 nights, we did not want to spend for a balcony, but now, the difference is quite reasonable, if possible.

I am Canadian, so yes, I think the US rules apply to me..

thanks!! No matter what, it will be a great cruise!

  5. thanks, I have made our 2 choices, either 5 nights on Independance or 7 nights on Oasis,

I will be on Celebrity in 20 days, hope prices remain the same, as I want to book onboard, to get perhaps a bit more onboard credit...

That's what I figured, more younger kids, but ours are not young, and its either that time or summer (but now one works and the 2 others work during summers..)

    thanks!!

  6. HI,

I have probably cruised 20 times, but never a Xmas Cruise.. With our kids (24-22-20) 2 still in College, we are thinking of giving it a try.. but.. so much more $$, I would like your input on the following:

Is it crazy crowded (but I think that most times, ships are full)

    I presume more kids onboard,

Is the food, service, still the same,

It must be gorgeous (decorations), we once left January 2nd, and still had some decorations, but it was a quiet sailing..

We have only 2 good choices (well there's also the smaller ships, 4-5 nights)

    Independence, 5 nighs

    Oasis, 7 nights,

We need to fly back December 30th the latest to be back with family, so its really a xmas cruise...

    Thanks everybody!!

PS Prices are reasonable right now for these 2 cruises, is there a better time to book?

I will be on Celebrity in less than 3 weeks, I know I can also book Royal (with our kids, Royal is better..)

Will I get more onboard credit? Inside cabins for them, we need 2 insides,

  7. THANKS everybody!!! We are sailing January 26th, her bday is the 27th, so I will get that sorted out right away for a cake..

I think I will go with Murano.. We had the lobster dish last year, and the crepes , omg was soo good.. Am sure she will love Chateaubriand..

As for Q, I have to say, I love the small filets there also, we will be doing all of them, we took a 4 night package, just wanted a special one for her bday, and they have not sailed Celebrity, we are in our early 50's, (actually, just turned 50...) this will be wonderful!

    Cant wait!!!

  8. HI,

2nd time on Celebrity, this year, on the Silhouette, and want to book a restaurant for my sister-in-law's bday, we have tried all of them last year on Reflection, except the Lawn Grill (they did not have that one)

She is fussy, and loves filet mignon.. and I love my sister-in-law, so want to make sure I book the right restaurant for her bday!

Am thinking the Lawn Grill (might be fun for either her hubby or my hubby to perhaps cook her a steak?) if not, I loved Q, but not sure about steak there..

Also loved the one with the lobster they made in front of you, but not sure about filet mignon, or a good steak..

    thanks for all your suggestions!

PS We booked 4 night package for dinners, I will call them and ask for a cake for her bday, anybody has info for where I should email or call, would be much appreciated!!!

  9. Hi,

Looking to try NCL again (just did a 3 day cruise years back on a smaller ship) I love Royal, but have done so many, think its time for a change.

Am looking at the Escape or Getaway, love both ittineraries, price is good, includes drink package, now drink package, does it cover most drinks like on Royal (water bottles also, wine by the glass, martinis, etc.)

Also, reading the ships are really crowded, can anyone compare Royal ships (the bigger ones) to these?

Food, I do like to go to Speciality restaurants, like 3 per week, I presume they are between $20-40.

A bit nervous to try something different, but I think that NCL are fun ships, and we (married couple, late 40's) enjoy the nightlife on ships.

Piano bars? Casino? nice bars, dancing, etc.

    thanks for your imput!
