  1. Maybe I should be more specific in my questions.

Having never stayed in those particular cabins or that far aft on a ship:

    1. Is there more vibration/noise from the engines in those particular cabins?

    2. Are the two cabins in the middle of that run slightly larger as it appears?

I did search the forum for more info before I posted the original question. Was simply seeking information.

These cabins are as far to the rear of the ship as passengers can get....middle deck but not mid-ship.

You will notice some more vibration at the rear of the ship. Watching the wake will make it worth it. :)

Above you will be balcony cabins, below you is a "crew space". You shouldn't have a problem with noise.

No, the cabins aren't any larger. If you look at photos of the back of the ship, the hull is straight, even though deck plans show them to be larger.

Have a great cruise! We'll be on her in September.

  2. AFIK, there are no cooking classes on the Fascination.

Lots of trivia and bingo :D

We did the Chef's Table back in 2010 and I believe it was on the second night.

The only google reference I can find for the current menu is on Zydecocruiser's site.

  3. Technically, it's not pre-paying.

Yes, it's added to your inboard account, but you don't pay that until you're leaving. :)

Pre-paying is an option on your cruise manager to actually pay the gratuities before you even cruise.

Don't forget to bring some $1's and 5's for porters, room service and taxis.

  4. At 23 and 18, you can't keep them with you 24/7 like you could when they were younger (no matter how much you might want to! :) ) But at that age, they are all 10 feet tall and bulletproof, so you may have to repeat the rules more than once.

If they stick together in a group, they will be much safer than wandering off in pairs.

Take only a little money with them not the whole spending wad.

Copies of identification as well as phone numbers (Carnival, Embassy, etc)

Don't let them rent scooters or any type of vehicle. If they are in any type of accident, it can get bad.

This shouldn't require saying, but it does......

Do NOT ever go off alone with a stranger. Not a crew member, not the cute guy (or girl) you met at Senor Frogs. Don't accept invitations to a party in another persons cabin, especially crew cabins. Only accept a drink from the hand of the bartender, and never ever leave it unattended or turn your back on it.

Look up the website "Events at Sea" (Cruise Junkie dot com)

There's a day by day, month by month, year by year list of every issue on a cruise ship. Norovirus alerts, people overboard, murder, sexual assaults.

Common sense, being aware of your surroundings, not over indulging while on shore, and sticking together.... and they'll be fine.

  5. Bring a larger ship to Charleston and offer longer, more innovative itineraries than Nassau and Freeport. Both NCL and Celebrity offered wonderful itineraries from Charleston in the past. Even a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise used to be offered.

    Yes, this please

I would really love for the steel drum band to return to the Lido too, at least for embarkation. Starts our whole cruise off right. :) They could get right back off when the passengers head to the muster drill.

  6. We loved the Fascination. So much that we're sailing her again in September. :)

Go with an open mind. No Red Frog, no Guy's Burger's, no huge waterworks. There isn't as much entertainment, though you will see the prerequisite Hairy Chest Contest. ;)

She's older, and doesn't have all of the bells and whistles, she's smaller and so easy to navigate. The staff seems a lot happier than other ships we've sailed, and they are awesome to the passengers. The Serenity Deck is truly serene, and the whole ship just has a more intimate feel.

If you want a cruise to just enjoy the ocean and relaxing, she's the one.

  7. Hi everyone, I'm planning on a Carnival Dream cruise next January to the Bahamas and Key west, and I have a few questions, please help...

    1) I live in England - the cruise departs from New Orleans - do I fly over the night before or very early morning (like 2 am) on the day of the cruise because of time difference?:confused::confused:

Fly in early, at least a day, preferably two. The jet lag will get you. Besides, you'll love New Orleans!

    2) Are the Interior cabins with the walkway picture window any good?

If you can swing it, go for the balcony.

    3) Is it worth visiting Freeport, Nassau and Key west because this cruise is 7 nights meaning only three port day and three sea days?

In my opinion (which is worth less than a penny :) ), Freeport is the most worthless port that Carnival sails to. Key West is lovely with loads to do, Nassau is too, lots of beaches and things to see.

    4) What is the muster drill like on Carnival Dream? Do you take your life jacket?

You don't have to take your life jacket anymore, but it does take about an hour while waiting on everyone to show up, and then receiving the information.

    5) How smooth is embarkation for someone like me who doesn't have Carnival Platinum or anything like that?

It really depends on Customs and whether there's an inspection that day. However, Carnival usually does a pretty good job of getting passengers off and then on again. Plan on an hour from dockside to first drink of the day.

    6) Are the pools and water slides on the Dream salt water like all the older ones?

I haven't sailed the Dream, but I also believe that Carnival's pools are all salt water.

Thanks for reading my questions, please help and answer :)

    Have a great cruise!

  8. I've searched the internet, and CC (as much as I could with the search function being down most of the time now), and I've only found one photo that might, maybe, possibly be a picture of the aft extended balconies on the Fascination.

Anyone out there who might have a photo? Or has sailed in one and can tell me how much more "extended" they are as opposed to a regular balcony on the Fascination?

    Thanks!

  9. When we booked on the Triumph over Easter, we really wanted to do the Glory the same week but it was almost $200 more per person at the time. With the pack and go sale, it is only $60 more. I would love to switch to it, but wanted to know if there is any way to do so without paying the $50 per person change fee. Any insight?

Send an email to Mischelle cclsupport@carnival.com

Give her all of your details.

They might say no, but at least you tried. Right?

    Good Luck!

    :)
