We were there on Thanksgiving last year with our two daughters (10 and 6). The water was pretty calm with just a few waves. We basically had the place to ourselves. The distance from the chairs to the beach wasn't that big but with such a small crowd, it didn't really matter. No one was fighting for space. Gail and Barry were terrific hosts - the rum punch is awesome and they were so sweet to our girls. We did the PAYG option which made sense for us. We will definitely return the next time we are on Antigua!

Excuse my ignorance but what does PAYG mean? Pay as you go? Is there all inclusive and an option to pay a la carte.....just pay for what you want? If so, can you give an idea of the prices please?

Do you have to make reservations or just show up? Does the beach belong to Gail and Barry or is it a public beach?

Sorry no idea I only walked and looked at it some years ago when we were

    At Paradise.

I imagine prices would be comparable, Paradise is not a budget beach bar. You may find photos of the menu on TripAdvisor.

That’s why I asked. Would not want to pay more than we already paid at Paradise. Found menu on link you posted but unfortunately no prices listed. Thank you

  3. Is Carlis n Charlie a beach also? Last month when we took a taxi to Paradise Beach, saw that C& C was right next door. Read somewhere it was same beach down aways and had no entry fee. Is it similar to Paradise Beach with beachfront loungers and umbrellas or just a restaurant?

    Thanks for any info.

  4. Most ship excursions are usually more than booking independently. Tickets for the skyride to Paradise Point are actually cheaper if you purchase it from the Carnival excursions desk. $19.99 and I believe at the ticket booth they were a few dollars more.

  5. Patrick,

It has been been a few years since I was on the Breeze but if I recall correctly, there is a night club on board. The only time the ship officially uses it is at night.

I am sure if you request the use of it during the day for a Meet and Greet, they will be willing to assign it to you.

Several years ago, I organized a M& G on snother ship and had contacted someone at Carnival to arrange all this ahead of time. An events co ordinator contacted me on board and everything went smoothly

  6. I don't understand why folks keep beating this dead horse. We have been told that the signs on the doors to the cabins say exactly what Carnival wants the passengers who don't have priority access, either by Platinum or Diamond status or by buying priority per cruise, to see and stay out until the announcement is made that the cabins are ready for everyone to access. For most cruises that's 1:30 pm. The other roadblock to getting into cabins is that unless you have priority rights, your sign & sale card won't be in your cabin mailbox so you can't enter your cabin and staff has been instructed to not let anyone in a cabin without the sign and sail card being in the mailbox. With passengers staying out of the halls the cabins are being readied quicker and with the halls not full of folks wanting to "just store my bags" in their cabin before it's ready, luggage handlers have more room to work & get luggage delivered. On our last several cruises as platinum, members, we have boarded right after wedding parties & Diamond and before FTTF and on board around 11:30 or sooner, check in was very quick, sign & sail cards were in mailbox and luggage arrived by noon. On the recent Horizon TA, half of the passengers were platinum or diamond and their was no FTTF sold due to the number of priority passengers. Amazingly there were few if any complaints that cabins weren't ready or luggage wasn't received shortly after lunch. I'm very happy with assigned boarding times being enforced, having an expedited check in, cabin being ready when we board and luggage received in early afternoon. I have sincere doubts that Carnival has any reason to take any of the current benefits away. They recently raised the prices for FTTF and will probably continue to see what the market will bear. I'm also a very happy stockholder who is glad Carnival has found a way to make more money without having to raise prices across the board. I enjoy the free OBC ,especially for 14+ day cruises, bank dividends each quarter that were just increased and have no intention of selling my stock just because of a little drop. All announcements were positive other than the increasing cost of fuel and that's an issue with all cruise lines and airlines.

    Well said!

  7. We were at honeymoon beach 2 days ago and while it was beautiful, snorkeling was subpar and red hook travel total time was 1 hr 15 minutes on way back. So today my husband and I opted for water island. Ferry right next to cruise ship. $5/person one way. 10 minutes to get there. 2 beach bars. The best part was we saw a lot of turtles. I'm so glad we went here and didn't waste time going to st john. Really nice people working both bars and the ferry. Very different from taxi drivers and ferry operators at red hook and st john

Can you clarify for me please? You mentioned Honeymoon Beach in relationship to Red Hook/St John’s.

I thought Honeymoon Beach was on Water Island. We were there many tears ago and thought that was the beach. Your descriotion of getting to Water Zisland us how I remember it. In e off the ferry, we had to walk uphill and then after a short walk, reached Honeymoon Beach.

  8. Some of the catamaran tours are only 1/2 day - not sure how much time you would need to tour Mount Gay, etc. Silver Moon and Calebeza are often suggested.

Or most of the beach clubs along Carlisle Bay offer a small boat tour to swim with the turtles - tour Mount Gay and then have the cab drop you off at The Boatyard, Harbor Lights, etc.

How far is the Mount Gay Rum fsctory from the port or Carisle Bay?

  9. If you had read the thread, you'd know where it was listed in the FAQ's and was actually removed from. As explained many times early in this thread, if you read the FAQ's for FTTF, all of the perks that FTTF gets also includes the phrase, "Note: This is also a benefit for VIFP Diamond and Platinum guests." In the past, that note was also included with the "First Access to Stateroom" perk, but was deleted by Carnival in recent weeks. So in addition to P/D's reporting they were being turned away (see below), the deletion of that sentence from the FTTF FAQ's helped fuel the rumor.

The rumor didn't start on these boards. It started when platinum/diamonds in the last few months began reporting that they were being denied early access to their cabins. It varied between ships and who they spoke to on board. It did not start on here, it was brought here by P/D's who were having first-hand accounts. And it certainly didn't devolve into posting fake, photoshopped Carnival webpages until this character "dcook51" did it today (over two weeks after these two merged threads were created). It's obvious someone created that dcook51 account just to post the fake image and, if I had to guess, I'd say it was one of the usual troublemakers around here. Someone who keeps whining about this thread and just wants to stir the pot. It's too convenient that that showed up after all this time.

No one has to post in this thread. If anyone's tired of reading about it, remove it from your subscribed threads list and simply skip passed it if you see it. I think it's sad that there's people here who are so eager to kiss the ring of JH that they run to his fb page to report what's posted here, as soon as it's posted.

There is a huge probability that the one who posted that fake image is the same person who posted the link to JH on FB. Not to kiss up but to stir the pot.

  10. Actually, I was surprised to see you as the OP of this thread. You usually have an aversion to anything negative. That may have inadvertently given this legs and credibility. Good job!! LOL

Me too! I was shocked when I came over to see what was being said and saw who the OP was.

I had seen this being referenced twice on the other page with links. Did not open the link. Thought I would come over to see what all the rumors were.

  11. Love the Catch-22. Some people seem to blame FTTF for a wide range of problems and want Carnival to get rid of FTTF, but if Carnival did get rid of it, then some of the PD benefits disappear, too. Brilliant!

You are so right! We did not get some of the FTTF benefits until FTTF came along.

Some D&P complaint about FTTF but if not for FTTF, we may not have gotten this perk.

The biggest complaint is that we paid thousands of dollars to get these perks while those buying FTTF only pay a small price.

I personally did not pay thousands for theses perks. I paid to go on a cruise ( like every other person ) because I love cruising and the perks came along with the frequent cruising. Any benefits we get are appreciated

  12. While it is true that it has not been been listed under Diamond or Platinum as a benefit, it has always been listed in the FTTF FAQ that each and every benefit is a perk of Diamond and Platinum individually. Then when this was reported blurb had been removed from just the section about rooms being ready. It still remained on every other perk.

Sorry, since I never had the need to view this list, never saw what was listed. As far as the Diamond benefit listings, it has never been posted as a perk on our individual benefits or in the VIFP Club benefits.

  13. Off topic- sorry mods!

Hi Mary- hope all has been well since our Magic TA! Glad to see you posting again

Hello J, all is well. We are going on the Horizon TA in May. Hope all is well with you and your family. I know you have all moved on to Princess so surprise to see you on the Carnival one.

I post more on the roll calls of my cruises.

  14. I have not read all of the posts so don’t know if this was posted already. I apologize if it has been posted. I believe this rumor started when someone saw that the perk of going to your cabin upon embarking was not shown as a perk and reported that it had been removed . NOT!

I have been a Diamond since before FTTF and we only got this perk and getting our luggage as a priority because it was a FTTF perk. So NEVER listed as a perk for Platinum or Diamond. Not before and not now.

  15. Campolady, first let me thank you for the wealth of info you provide re Malaga. Love Malaga....our favourite port in Europe.

On our first visit over 10 years ago, we stumbled upon a beach near the port. That is probably the beach you have recommended near the port.

In recent years, we have gone to town, shopping areas, tapas bars and the market by way of the marina with the restaurants and returned that way.

This May when we are there, we would like to combine our walk to town with a return by way of the beach.

Is there a shorter way to get to the beach without having to return to the port area and going right at the junction you mentioned?[/quote

Finish your walk at the Cathedral area then walk down towards the coast road or through the park; bear left and you will be at the beach (5 minutes walk) and you can come back to the cruise terminal via the port rear entrance at the right hand end of the beach.

Thank you again. Knew we had to bear left at some point but did not know when and where do we ended up going the same way we went to town. Now we know with your advice.

  17. I live in Nova Scotia, you could rent a car and go to both those places but I'd be worried you would be rushed. I'd plan on wanting to spend a couple hours at each place. Chester is nice too. Peggy's cove is beautiful and there are other little fishing villages close as well near there.

We have a car rented for our port day in Halifax. We were planning to drive to Peggy’s Cove. What are the other nearby fishing villages we should go to? We are in pirt from 8-5
