  1. Did anyone find out who Carnival is now using?

We are going in Feb 2018 and currently no Belize dives are offered.

I contacted Hugh Parkey they said they were not doing Carnival dives then.

So I just wondered was Carnival using someone else?

Parkey said we can book a dive thru them...but I figured I'd wait a bit and see if Carnival decided to offer a dive there before committing.

But there are loads of ships there that day so don't want to wait too long.

  2. So I notice that Carnival is currently not listing dive excursions in Nassau.

Any knowledge about what is going on with them and Stuart Cove?

I see the SUB adventure listed but not the dives.

I am interested since 4 of us have a two tank dive booked thru Carnival in August.

We are paid in full for the excursion, but I hate to think they would come back at the last minute and say the excursion was not available.

    Thoughts?

  3. Another vote for Seasport Belize. They do a wonderful job. I had a detailed review of my trip and dives with them that I wish I could share with you but since it was unceremoniously deleted...I will leave you with...

    The folks were great

    The dives were outstanding

Lunch was served and the ceveiche was fresh

Oh and they definitely got us back to the ship on time.

    Have fun!

  4. Would be an absolutely useful idea for those of us who like to cruise to our dives spots. And this would be an excellent spot to gather all the info.....but I can guarantee you it will never happen. For some reason the moderators are very restrictive on providing information . I still get more than a little irate over the whole no reviews idea when that is so prominent on other portions of their site.

But if you can get them to do it....it would be a great idea.

Could also post info on availability of dives....for example if Carnival ports at 10 am they may not be offering dives since most operators would have already headed out...but if they have a special agreement with the shop...they might still be offering dives....so people could indicate the availability of dives for unique port times.

    Just so useful ideas

  5. There is no hurricane in the Caribbean right now as stated.

I definitely understand that...and I think it's been stated here several times.

The questions concern projection and curiosity that IF Invest 99 were to become a storm AND were to stay on the currently projected path...what MIGHT be a response.

Every time my news comes on in our state they are making projections about this storm. So of course curiosity leads to questions about typical operational responses.

  6. Also, while technically not regular texting - ie SMS - if you leave cellular off and have wifi on, iPhone users who use iMessage with other iPhone users, those come through with no extra charge (aside from whatever ship wifi you have).

Depends on if the people you text on a regular basis use iPhones or not, but for my family it worked great.

So do you mean the sms will NOT work? Wondered about that. The lady that cares for our critters is not on fb...but I can usually send her phone and text via sms. Didn't know if that would work on the ship.

  7. About 3 months ago I wrote a wonderful review on all of these ports. Wish I had it to post for you but CC removed it since reviews aren't allowed even though it would be very helpful for you.

    Long story short...

    Cozumel...Aldora (private) is great

    Belize...Seasport Belize (private) was wonderful

Roatan...Anthony Keys (ship operator) is outstanding

Grand Cayman...Don Foster's (ship operator) horrible

Hope he has a great trip!

  8. 8 years ago I did a discovery scuba off a cruise ship in Nassau. It was the most terrifying thing I have ever done. It was a giant stride off a boat and then an ascent down a down line. And the two skills were done shortly after descent. We then did a 20 min tour around the reef. The tour was amazing.

All of this ultimately led to me being hooked on diving and since then I have completed my Master Scuba Diver.

So the discovery ultimately led to drive me....but in hindsight it is not what I would recommend now if someone in my family wanted to try scuba.

I would try to go to the keys, start in a pool, and then progress to the open water discovery dive.

The cruise discovery can definitely fuel the fire...it obviously did for me....but it could just as easily led to me being to terrified to continue in scuba.

I know that doesn't directly answer the question but hopefully provides food for thought.

    Have a great cruise.
