  1. It does not make sense to bring in scones. They have large rolling machines  for all kinds of dough and cookie cutters they probably cut at least 50 at a time, considering how many they are serving each day.

That's very interesting. So is your Cunard World Club number nine digits (without a letter at the end)? Australia/New Zealand numbers have been ten digits without any letters.

My World Club number dates from 2019 and is 10 digits.  I'm American and the cruise was booked through American travel agency.

I would know because we would have already  seen our  assigned table and it would take a brazen M d'h to accept a bribe after the fact which is why I know it would never happen.

Well, that would certainly be brazen.  I was thinking back to when we had our table moved to a window, but this was 2 days in.  We boarded in Hamburg and then in Southampton we were moved to the window table vacated by departing passengers.  Yes, it would be most inappropriate to cause someone to be moved from a table they had already eaten at, just because someone with a lot of cash wanted it.  In this case might as well put the tables up for auction.

If ever I found out I had been bumped from a restaurant table due to such  abhorrent behaviour between a fellow passenger and a member of Cunard staff is the day I make such a stink, the member of staff would wish he/she were on a different planet.

Luckily, I know it will never happen.

    A. How would you know?

    B. It's Cunard's right to sit you anywhere they want.

  5. Americans see this differently than the British.  Many of the answers here come from British folks and most are adamant against it.  It's not going to embarrass the staff to take your cash.  After all a tip is money given as a bonus for service rendered, so giving the Maitre d' a tip for changing your table is not inappropriate.  It would also be fine to wait and include the tip as part of the overall end of trip tips that you may wish to pass out.  If you aren't flashing your cash or making a production out of it, then it's between you and the Maitre d' and no one else should care.

Milt request to do a survey looked suspicious. I deleted immediately and never opened.

This is the correct action.  If you didn't cancel a booking, or even have one then why in the world would you open the obviously scam email?  I realize that spam can look really legit now, but still.

  7. WantedOnVoyag, Years ago flying all over for Business United lost my Luggage twice in one week. So I wanted to gate check and the Agent at the gate told me she could not. I explained that they had lost my luggage already twice this week and she better comply. She told me that she was a Flight Attendant for 20 Years and never lost her Luggage. My reply was that I had never seen a Flight Attendant check their Luggage in all my Years of Travel. She gate Checked it.

I usually check out both menus and make my decision where to dine from there. Its interesting that the MDR has had snails a number of times this year when we have not had them at all upstairs and then had  they still  had venison on the menu  when it had come off the "Off-Piste" menu in Grills.

You do realize that you could have requested either dish in the QG, right?

  9. Last time I was on the boat there were always several people in the lounge, especially in the evening.  I'll let you know in October, but it's a comfortable place for cigar and pipe smoking.  Churchill's has a good smoke processing system, the air is clear and I have not ever smelled smoke outside of the lounge.  Cunard does not allow cigarette smoking in the lounge, a bunch of cigarette smokers would overpower the air filters.

Thank you for pointing that nuance out. The British angle on this wording makes more sense but then Tips would be Teps??…. Another variation from an American site: TIPS: “To Insure Prompt Service”

Exactly, it was a show of good faith.
