You might also wait and bid for an upgrade cabin when it gets closer to the sail date. Let's hope the cruise lines can weather this and keep sailing. Myself I have sadly postponed 2 cruises a year out Sept 2021 & Feb 2022 with the lift and shift, haven't risked additional funds, and pray we have a vaccine by then.

    Cheers!

Yes, I did wonder about that.

Unfortunately we could not do the lift & shift as they could only offer 5 cruises, 3 of which are in September when my son gets married, plus we would be stuck with ocean view as they would not let us upgrade 🤨

Hey, what will be, will be.

Indeed you are an exception to my generalization, your situation is indeed untenable. I have to assume you got a great deal. Now you feel rightly betrayed, just as we did when they postponed the "Revolution" for Eclipse. We are fortunate that our cabin already exists. That being said we aren't at all confident that there will be a cruise in New Zealand at the end of January 2021 and yes we have accommodations pre and post cruise booked as well as air fare of over $8,000.00 already paid.

I doubt it will help but I think you will need to call their ploy before final payment. I'm really beginning to have bad feelings towards Celebrity for some of their business practices. It started with the postponement of the Eclipse refit without notification. Then there was the Canada cruise re-route (even though that didn't effect me personally) it is still pretty shoddy to book an East Coast Canada cruise and then switch it to a cruise full of sea days and a trip to Nassau. That is NOT a similar product, not even close. Now the ridiculous lag cancelling cruises that they know full well will never happen. And then add to that the fact that they won't address the situation that they have sold cabins that will not exist.

I know that the walls are caving in from every direction but they can't expect people to cough up final payment on the cruise to never, in the cabin that doesn't exist.

Sadly we did not get a great deal, this is one of my dream cruises and due to the number of days in port and the cost, we booked an ocean view stateroom.  Up till now we have only experienced Concierge & Aqua.

We contacted Celebrity to ask what they could do in terms of upgrade to veranda, given the fact our chosen stateroom won't exist and the refit won't have taken place.

The price they quoted was an insult!

    Most disappointed.

I would have thought they would want to keep potential customers who want to remain loyal to them.

We are fairly new to cruising and have only used Celebrity so far.

Sadly not overly customer orientated imho.

    Will we stick with them???

    Time will tell.........

You haven't shaken me up at all, like I said it was a rant because so many posts on the thread were clinging to the hope that all the major elements would be done while the ship was just idle. Well those things take vast amounts of money that is not on hand.

I think I put forward my opinion that if there is a refit it will be cosmetic and for required  mechanical maintenance.

I agree with you that it would be logical to install the new bedding and curtains, we have seen by the very design of the "revolution", logic may not be high on the priority list at Celebrity. I do understand that the "M Class" "Revolution" had many desirable components for all cabins, like the shower doors; other elements like the stupid big chair and the missing table were widely panned.

Part of my rant was because of the tone that the thread had grown over the 400+ posts. Some had legitimate concerns that the cabin they booked would not actually exist, but they really hadn't made an effort to find out from Celebrity what would happen with their booking. Then others who whined that they weren't getting what they paid for; join the club we are booked on cruise that was supposed to be "revolutionized" but was postponed back in October 2019. And still others were wondering what compensation they were entitled to because their cruise wouldn't be on a shiny new refit but that Constellation was now obviously a tramp steamer unfit for their tourist dollar.

Can I just say that I am one of those whose booked cabin won't exist, but can I also say that I HAVE actually "made and effort" to get in touch with Celebrity, and guess what?

Because our cruise is not until October, they tell me that they are dealing with cruises in date order and at the moment "nothing has changed with our booking 🙈🤨"

They will be in touch closer to our date!

Which doesn't help us, given that our final payment is due next month.

    Do we pay or not?

I don't expect for a minute that the refit will take place, but if the cruise does go ahead, keep changing my mind on whether I do or don't want to go on it 🤔

Not to mention  the flight 🙈

We haven’t sailed on NCL so I can’t compare to that.  You will be contacted by a Shoreside Concierge 1-2 weeks before your sailing to make any arrangements.

They will ask for any specialty restaurant reservations you want, any special requests/needs, your preferred bottles of spirits;  no set list to choose from.  If you look at the Drink Package info on the website it lists the brands of alcohol included in the Premium Beverage Package will give you an idea of what is available.

The unlimited speciality dining means no limit on the number of evenings (or lunches when open).  I doubt that you could eat 5 entrees, but if you want to try a couple of entrees you can ask for smaller portions.  On the Millennium there are 2 specialty restaurants; Tuscan Grill which is a Italian Steakhouse and Le Petit Chef which is a set menu with 2 seatings a night.  There is also Sushi on 5 which is all carte, since I don’t eat sushi I don’t know how the unlimited specialty dining works in Sushi on 5.  We find Luminae, the dining room for Suite guests , better than the  specialty restaurants so on a 15 night cruise we may go to each specialty once just for some variety.

I hope your cruise sails, we are on the Eclipse TP which sails 2 weeks after Your cruise.

We are new to cruising so unfortunately have not had the luxury of a suite as yet, so can't comment.

However, we were the fourth sailing last year after the Millennium came out of dry dock.

Beautiful ship and everything brand new.

    Loved the styling & colours.

I don't think Le Petit Chef was still there.

But Qsine was a new addition and it was fantastic, great experience.

I do hope you have a fantastic time and that your ship sails 🤞

Cruises already booked will bear no resemblance whatsoever to what was expected when they were originally booked.

Will X make it crystal clear to travellers what they can now expect and give them an option of cancelling on the basis that they cannot deliver what was originally on offer?

With any other product or service that is not as originally described customers in law do have some form of redress (in the UK that is)!

    Very good point!

Not sure if anyone from Celebrity reads these boards, but yes, it would be great if what we can expect going forward,  was made clear whenever they have that information.

(Not holding my breath though 😕)

Gracie115 that is very much the reality.  Said here over and over again.  There is no money for anything.  But still hundreds of posts continue on about it.  If cruising happens soon I cannot see RCCL spending cash right away renovating ships to have The Retreat and new carpeting before they spend cash on COVID renovations required for their new mandated operations.

I agree 100% and I for one would rather have a safe ship!

However, it is most frustrating that Celebrity are still selling a 'revolutionised ship' you can still go online and choose rooms that don't exist!

We are due to pay our remaining balance at the end of June, for a stateroom that does not exist.

It would be decent of Celebrity to give an official update, especially to those who already have a booking on the Constellation.

Where I agree with the majority of the comments of CC.

At the end of the day, they are peoples opinions and thoughts.

All my Celebrity Agent can tell me is that the refit is "on hold" with no further communication as yet.

Yes, those cabins are still included in Cruising Power and are post revolution.    I'm not sure if the 7 staterooms on the port side were there prior to the proposed revolution ( 3115-3127).  🍷

    Hey Wine-O

I have a 2019/2020 brochure that shows the 3115-3127 staterooms were not there prior to proposed revolution.

It shows the Wine Cellar and Tuscan Grille.

Which cabins are you referencing?  I see the 311x and Deck 10 cabins added on the newer plan, but the reclassifications don't show up at all.  Or are we talking about different things?

    3146, 3148 & 3150

Deck 3 in place of the ladies & gents.

As noted earlier, Celebrity has reverted to the current deck plan on their web site through 3 April 2021 on the date pull-down.  So at least for cruises sailing before then, the new options won't be appearing for the time being.

We are booked in one of the new rooms for October 2020, when I checked their website, these rooms are still showing.

Also checked 2021 and again, the 3 new rooms are showing 🤔

    The uncertainty if very frustrating.

Thanks for your input.  First, to answer your question we are in Florida.  Secondly, I am confused. You say your cruise booked is in October but when I read the info on Cruise with Confidence it seems to only apply to cancelling cruises up until September.  We did have a booking for the cruise from Venice to Barcelona and the on to Tampa but cancelled that quite a while back. Have the Christmas Panama Canal Touch but we would back out if we get word that there will be no Revolution done to the Constellation. Highly unlikely that it happens.

Not sure that the US terms are the same, but for sure, we were able to change to next year if we wanted.

Does anyone know if one can get a FCC for a non-refundable deposit from Celebrity?  We are booked on the Connie for Dec 23 but would like to switch to another cruise if it will not be Revolutionized before then.  Heck it may not even sail then if they into the cold dry dock.

    Hi

We are due to sail in Oct from Rome.

I'm not sure about FCC, but we have been advised by Celebrity that we can transfer our deposit to a different cruise.

Unfortunately the sail with confidence didn't suit us, as they could only offer a choice of 5 cruises, none if which suited us.

Not sure where you are located, but the UK terms appear to be different!

  12. The following photos are not taken from a cruise I was on, but if you have been on the Northern European cruise on the Reflection you may recognise this amazing Rail Bridge, the ship would have been docked close to it in South Queensferry (my home town) near Edinburgh

My sister sent me these photos today & I just had to share them.

Hope they bring back happy memories for some.....

Catching up with the latest season of Westworld last night reminded me of the amazing architecture of Valencia's science park posing as the Delos Corporations HQ.  A picture has already been posted but the place is worth another look. These pictures are from 2016 when a 2 Euro bus ride would take you there from the port gates.

Has anyone in the UK managed to change a year ahead with your booking and if so what telephone number did you call?

    Hi,

I haven't changed to next year yet, but have asked questions.

The number I use is 01932835918

When it asks for the extension number, just use 6 zeros & that gets you to a Celebrity advisor!

Royal Caribbean announced this morning the ability to do a "Lift & Shift" of currently booked cruises allowing you to push your already booked cruise out a year. There are some restrictions as far as dates go, but it seems like it is a good option for those who booked good rates and want to keep them. I can't find if this applies to Celebrity cruises as well, but if it does I may do this instead of cancelling for the full refund. Has anyone else seen this and what are your thoughts?

I spoke with a Celebrity agent this afternoon who had just finished a staff meeting with "the bosses"

She advised me that they had introduced the Lift & Shift scheme today!

Moving existing cruise to next year at the same cost and taking any perks with you.

This seems like a good option, my big concern would be flight costs.

Our cruise is not till October so the flights are not available as yet.

Fly in at least one day early.  If you fly day of cruise it will be like a red-eye flight, you will be beat by the time you are at the port, and you will have to board to get rid of luggage, then might be too exhausted to get back off that day.  A week is not enough for Venice.  EM

I agree 100%, we spent 5 nights in Venice and still didn't see everything.  If you have time, a trip to Burano is just magical.

Also, if you can arrange your own transfer from the airport by water taxi to your hotel.

It is the only way to arrive in Venice if you haven't been before.

It's like being in a James Bond movie!

    Very special.

    Enjoy, whatever you decide!

Thank-you very much for the pictures of Shanghai.... We were booked on the Millenium Hong-Kong to Shanghai 14 nights cruise this March and, of course, it was unfortunately cancelled. Sadly, I will unlikely be able to re-create such an opportunity... so pictures of that cruise are really nice to see!!!

That's so sad to hear, I'm glad you like them!

Jun 18 2007 Millennium sailing, 12 Night Venice to Barcelona

We were asleep when Millennium anchored at Santorini.  I remember waking up and walking out onto our balcony and seeing this amazing sight.  The ship is Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the Seas which gained notoriety two years earlier when a passenger disappeared under mysterious circumstances during a Mediterranean cruise.

Culinary delights at Le Grand Bistro on the Edge from December 2018. (French Onion Soup, Lobster Bisque and Cheese & Charcuterie) This was one of my favorite dining experiences on any Celebrity ship. I really wish they had added this to the M and S class ships during the revolution updates. It's a must try if you travel on Edge class!
