Thanks Jaydee. I’ve just tried again and I’m still getting stuck at the same place, so I’ve no idea why. I’ve even tried clearing my browser history in case there was something there messing things up. Les.

    Hi Les,

Just tried on my Ipad, and am getting the same response you are waiting to retrieve list of cabins.  I then tried again on my PC using Edge this time, and again went straight through into cabins with no issues.

Thanks for posting, that is good news that there was 2 cabin services a day during your cruise.

It will be interesting to see if P&O do trial the 1 day cabin service on future 2-3 night cruises.

We will be on a 4 night in February on Ventura, so will see if anything is different there.  Other than that won't be doing a 2 night cruise till late November.

Does anyone have an older brochure to check what it said about steward service? It would be interesting to know if the statement is something different or just the same as above.

I only have the January 2018 to October 2019 printed brochure.  However on page 20, 'Your holiday hideaway' it states daily steward service.

  4. Out of interest, do you have any idea roughly how much money you saved by having the drinks package?

I guess the simple truth as to whether or not P&O keeps it will be determined by who comes out on top. If the passengers save a lot of money by buying the drinks package then it’s likely to be ditched. If, on the other hand, P&O comes out on top then they have an incentive to keep it

We were on the same cruise as Deeliteful, and we took the option of the Ultimate package on the 2nd day, simply by asking in Brodies. Was not going to be worth it on the first day, as I only decided I was fit enough to travel on the morning, after pulling all the muscles in my lower back.

I have done a quick tot up, with rough prices as each slip you receive has £0 cost on it, we came out ahead by about £100. But that was for 2 adults and a free child package, which was probably what made it work for us.

A few niggles in some bars wanting to do a slip for each person and card, but service everywhere was done no differently than if you didn't have the package. At some points even coming back around after 10 minutes to see if we wanted to re-order before a show!

Whilst discussing the package with the head barman in Brodies, a lot of the problems had risen from the fact that new crew members had been rejoining Azura from their holidays and new nothing about the packages until they got on board. So some were slightly confused.

A slight change during the cruise with them giving us small bottles of Pepsi for our shorts instead of draught Pepsi, even pouring bottles in to a glass for my sons Pepsi.

I do think that if I had been my normal self from the start, then the package would have had a bit more use on some days, as I was just too tired to be out after visiting the ports.

Undecided as to if it was available we would order it again, but knowing our drinks cost was fixed and budgeted for was handy.

  5. Just to dispel some misconceptions. Most (all?) cruise lines that have a drinks pack will still swipe your card otherwise they are abandoning all computerised stock keeping and cost effectiveness. On P&O you will get a receipt that shows a cost of £00.00 for all your drinks. For those that think 15 drinks is excessive; I normally have a morning speciality coffee and start drinking water (2 litres a day on an air-conditioned ship. Two or three diet cokes around the pool (and more water) and maybe a Pina Colada. By the time I’ve had my four bottles ( you can only have small on the drinks pack) I’m rapidly approaching 10 drinksbefore the pee dinner drink at the bar. Two glasses of wine (ad fizzy water) with dinner and I’ve almost done my allocation before going out for the night. 15 drinks is not excessive and quickly gets used up.

I thought the limit of 15 drinks, according to the P&O literature, is restricted to the alcoholic drinks. Your coffees, fizzy and water do not count as part of the 15.

  6. Hi Deeliteful - as a ‘pro’ package person I’m very interested in your view on the package - have a great cruise and please do let us know how you found it operated.

I am (fingers crossed with back issue) on the same cruise as Deeliteful, and we will also more than likely be taking up the Ultimate package. We will also have our 14 year old son with us, so his will be free, and kids do like their fizzy!!

Having looked at a lot of the concerns mentioned, a lot would not apply to us anyway. We generally drink water with our meals, so trying to get an alcoholic drink in the MDR won't be an issue. Plus its not just the 15 alcoholic drinks, as I would not drink that many in 24 hours anyway. But you can still have draft fizzy, primo Costas, Teapigs etc every 15 minutes.

A quick look at prices and with say 5 bottles of Corona , 2 late evening cocktails, some water, coffee and fizzy during the day and I will easily exceed the £40 cost. And with the wifes drinks and the sons package would also exceed their £40 cost.

We would have anticipated teething problems and the waiters not quite up to speed, but would just take it as it comes.

Looking forward to our cruise next Saturday.
