1. You can get $20/per person tours (2-3 hrs) from hundreds of guides just off the ship in Dominica...just walk a few streets away from the pier and haggle a bit. It was easy. Great tour too.

Thats what we did in Dominica, just keep walking, the farther you walk, the lower the prices get and we got a wonderful driver named Henry.

  2. I posted on the Dominica board, but since we'll be on the Victory, and I see you discussing how busy it can get, particularly Trafalgar falls, I'll ask here...

We don't get into port until 10:00, and 2 other ships will be in port that day (which both arrive earlier). So there will be no beating the rush. We'd really like to snorkel Champagne reef, but we'd like to see at least one falls.

I don't think you can predict how crowded the falls will be, it all depends on each day & what people are planning for their day in Dominica.

We found a taxi driver at the pier, he took us up to the falls, we were the only ones on the plateform and got a great family picture, the springs are right there, they were great! first we swam in the cold water at the base of the falls, then walked over to the sulfer springs for a hot dip, theu don't smell but have a tingling feeling on your body. The driver then took us thru the gardens on our way to Champagne reef, we had over an hour to snorkel, on the way back, we went thru town and he pointed out the enteresting spots & where his family lived, we had enough time to go back to the ship, change and do a little shopping.

  3. We are on her march 21 2010 can't wait .We are trying to pick which islands we want to do stuff on any one suggestions.

we'll be sailing southern again 2 weeks before you.

The best Island to do an excursion in is Dominica, in my opinion.

  4. Last time we sailed on CArnival on the conquest we were able to have our balcony doors opened while in port. Does the Victory allow this also?

As long as they are not cleaning the outside balcony deck and you are in your cabin, it is not recommended if you won't be in your cabin.

  5. Hi everyone, I will be sailing on the Victory in April and getting married in St Thomas! This is my 5th cruise and my fiance's first. I tend to get sea sick sometimes and was wondering how bad the motion on the boat really is. I'm a little nervous now and don't want to spend my honeymoon sick:( Any insight would be appreciated.

Everyones pictures are great by the way!!!

I have been on the Southern Itenerary a few times and Granted weather can change but in my experience it has been the smoothest sailing I have ever had each time.

    April will be perfect,

I be sailing Southern again the moth before you.

Congratulations and have a great cruise!!:)

  6.
Since the ship leaves port a 10 pm, what time can you board? Also what dock does the Victory use?
The ship docks at 7am, you will be able to board the ship anywhere between 11am & 1pm, depending on how well customs goes, we have sat on the shikp for hours waiting for the drug dogs to go down all the halls (and yes, they found drugs)

After you check in, you can leave the ship for the rest of the day, as long as you are back before muster.

I'll be sailing Southern Caribbean again in 9 months (thats way to long!!)
  7. How would this accomadate 3 in a room over a regular Balcony.

Are any Balcony Cabins bigger inside??

The corner wrap cabins have more room, There will be a couch that folds to a bed for the 3rd person. Although Not all corner afts will accomadate 3 people.

Other than that, the suite balconies are larger.

  8. Did not know this...I would ignore if just DH and I were on there, but if my small children I'd be miffed...good to know these things. Looks from her siggy that it appears Carnival entertains this more often. Thanks for the heads up.

The thing is, many times when a cruiseline books a group, they don't know what kind of group it is.

Alot of times if you google the date, ship & "group cruise" , it will bring up lots of groups that will be on your sailing date.

  9. Actually, I just assumed they were like many themed cruises advertised on CC boards...from what I have seen posted on cruise critic, a lot are...as I have seen people complain their cruise ended up being cancelled as they ended up being chartered by "groups" for themed cruise. I'd be ticked if I ever got on one and it was a theme cruise that I was not notified of.

So if these themed cruises ended up being during a typically normal cruise without notification, then I then the cruise line would lose me as a client on their ship...too many cruiselines to choose from.

There are quite abit of complaints here on CC about swingers groups being on board during their cruise and the things that were going on in public, but this can happen with any kind of group cruising.

some people are offended and some people just ignore it.

  10. Guys...like someone else stated they googled PS (which is in her siggy before each Carnival ship they wore these on) and it is Playful Swingers. They go on lifestyles cruises, one coming up in their siggy as well. So all makes sense now...that's pretty covered compared to some of those "lifetsyle" cruises I've heard about...so no worry everyone...no family's. THANK goodness! Whew!

Do you think all PS cruises are on Chartered ships??

No, this is a group of people on a regular ship with regular families.

  11. We have an aft cabin (8430) in August out of NYC to Canada. I am not concerned about people looking at the balcony, I am more concerned about motion sickness. How did you do with that? I have trouble and we had a balcony cabin in the middle on our cruise to Alaska. Had the patch and did fine.

    Any comments on this?

You will feel more movement in the aft cabins than you did in your middle cabin, there will be a vibrating shimmy, i tend to feel it more on the larger ships, (i have not idea why)

  12. Do you know if this searching is a common occurance? s!

My teen daughter nor i have ever been searched when reboarding the ship, they will search you if you look suspicious or they have reason to believe you have drugs.

I people that i have heard of getting busted for buying drugs, don't even make it to the ship to get searched before they are detained.

  13. I actually like Jamaica, i have been there 4 times and would go back again, yes it is true, there are people pestering you, most everywhere you go and yes, i have witnessed 2 stabbings right in front of me, but honestly, it could happen anywhere.

It was 2 women arguing over a man:ek

  14. Balcony drain, as in your cabin's balcony? I don't know but I don't think so.

First let me say i am NOT against tiny kiddle pools on the pool deck, let them have their fun, I am against pools on the balconies because twice i have been below them and twice the parents just dumped the pool water right out onto the ground and my balcony was dripping water within seconds, now i'm not saying all parents do this but these are the ones who ruin it for everyone.

~~I have never seen a drain on a balcony.
