  1. Just have them grab a generic travel consent online and copy it. My husband often does not travel with my children and I because of his job, and I always do a quick travel consent form before we go and get it notarized. In my 14 years of motherhood I have only been asked for it once (by border patrol entering the US from Mexico), but I will always do it because I don't want to worry about the what ifs. Simple fix.

  2. Thanks for posting another review! I enjoyed the last one, especially your DPDRs (drink package damage reports). Will be staying at the Homewood precruise for the 4/2 Oasis sailing. What room is that view from? Would love to see a snapshot of the hotel layout from the back of the room door if there is one.

Thanks again in advance for your review!

  3. I question whether the average tip is anywhere near $10pp pd. We tip based on service provided and since we never make any demands of the butler (no meals served in our suite, no parties, no special errands or requests) our tip for the week is far, far smaller. Just a nominal amount for delivering the afternoon snacks.

Agree. We tipped more because she brought us breakfast 3 times (and it was delivered to the MINUTE....seriously), brought me buckets and buckets of ice whenever I requested it, and she escorted us to 2 shows.

You (general you) tip based on your usage of the butler, and how well they treated you during the week. I can guarantee you these butlers are not pulling 1K in tips a week.

Also, they do not work every week of the year.

  4. Thanks for your incredible review of the Epic! Still reading through it, but wanted to ask a few questions while I had them in my mind and on this posting...So it is true that you are allowed to bring Coca Cola products on the ship, since they serve Pepsi products? And second question, the Lobster night on the FIRST night (forget the name of the restaurant), do you mean the Saturday night or the Sunday night? One other question, does the Epic have a "Sail Away" BBQ dinner? My husband and I are cruising the Epic on 2/25/12 and are getting so excited

Yes, just bring your Coke products on, either carry them yourself, or do what we do -- reinforce with a little bit of duct tape, create a handle with the tape (you know those 12 pack handles rip at the WORST times...) and slap a luggage tag around the handle. Then check it. It will show up at your stateroom. :)

Last week, we brought on Coke Zero, Tonic, Sour Mix, and Cranberry juice. No issues with any. Paid the $75 in corkage right after we got through security. Painless. We think the ship had great tasting water.
