Borisivan - my husband is the "real" gambler. He tells me the same thing "Let it Ride is the worst game in the house". Well it's not but its bad. I think the "Wheel of Fortune" carnival type wheel is worse. I enjoy playing it and like you go with a certain amount and when its gone its gone.
I've had 4 of a kind twice and both times it was with only $5. I do play the 3 Card bonus because I can usually catch something in that hand that doesn't pay in the regular let it ride hand that covers at least one of my bets (like a pair of 3s or a pair of 2s). I've hit a couple of straight flushes on that bonus.
I've been on ships that don't have a Let it Ride table and get stuck playing 3 card poker (which is OK but definitely prefer LIR).
Thanks for the luck - you should have said to the dealer - "if you are so concerned about that 3 card bet - put your money up!!!" I'm sure someday we will cross paths at a Let it Ride table!!

Going next week - Let it Ride is my game of choice too - send some good luck this way - would love to either start or leave the cruise on a 4 of a kind!!!! :D

I'm going on the Quantum next week and booked almost a year in advance. I checked the prices constantly and they never dropped below what I paid in fact they drastically increased. I also looked for a "deal" but Quantum/Anthem was always excluded.
I did book through an online TA that gave me OBC and prepaid gratuities but didn't qualify for the reduced deposit or free dinners etc.
I think its better to book early, get the cabin you want and watch for price adjustments.

Missmad - I will be there on March 16th (the quantum) and have not been able to book KSC on the website. I went ahead and rented a car from Payless right there at the port (shuttles will be there after the ship docks). I purchased my tickets on line directly from KSC. The price of the car for the day, the tickets to KSC and the $10 parking fee they charge at the center came in less than the RCI excursion for the two of us. KSC closes a lot earlier than when the ship is scheduled to leave so no fears of missing the boat.
Book what you want for cococay once you get on board.

Payless or Hertz? Any opinions on which is better for this port in regards to shuttle service (hours available), customer service, ease of pick up/drop off etc.
Payless is a few dollars cheaper and seems to be open longer than Hertz.
Would love to hear people's experiences with one or the other.

Radio,
As I sit here watching the snow fall, waiting for the blizzard to hit the tri-state area, I am thoroughly enjoying your blue skies and blue seas. I will be on her 3/13 and can't wait to experience the changes.
Thanks for taking the time out of your cruise so that we can all enjoy it!

I have seen quite a few "families" who have come on a cruise thinking someone else would watch their children - they were there to have fun! If that's the case - leave the kids home! The parents should be responsible for their children - the cruise line is not your personal babysitter!
I agree with all the comments that you should have called over a manager but in reality the parent should have acted on this knowing it was unpleasant to everyone. I don't know how anyone could think that is appropriate behavior anywhere. It's not only restaurants, it happens in supermarkets, malls, etc. Parents ignore the full blown meltdowns of their children while everyone else has to put up with it.
I remember Chops as having a rule about younger children only at early dinner seatings. Is that no longer the case or was this an earlier dinner seating?
The restaurant manager should have asked that the child be removed from the restaurant and if you can calm them down you are welcome to return otherwise we will have your dinner sent to your room or we will be happy to refund the cost of your meal. Problem solved with only 1 unhappy diner. No one should have to ask the manager to act - that should have been automatic protocol for him/her to handle that situation.

Thank you - exactly the info I was looking for!
What would you say is the "not to miss" selection at Wonderland?
-
For anyone who has purchased the Royal Replenish or Ultimate Pkg - what venues can specialty coffees be ordered from? Where can you get Fresh squeezed OJ - is it in the windjammer only and is it only for breakfast?
Comedy shows - I'm on an 8 day Bahamas cruise - can anyone tell me when the comedy shows were? Nothing available online and wanted to make sure I hold spots open for them.

For anyone that has been on the QotS and booked the "dining package" would like to know.....
1) It states you receive 20% OBC for booking a restaurant on the 1st Day (Chops, Wonderland, Jamie's etc)
2) It states if you book 3 restaurants pre-cruise you get up to 30% OBC.
Do you get both of these if you book 3 and one is on the 1st day?
Did you have the OBC you expected in your account when you boarded?

I am on the 3/13 sailing and the choice of Devinely Decadence is now gone from the available dining selections. Hope it is just a glitch and they bring it back. I wanted to book it for dinner on one of the port days.

Heard the smoking issue is horrible in the casino. Both DH and I are non-smokers and although we put up with it, from what I have read in past reviews its pretty bad and some actually would not go due to the smokiness.
Any recent cruiser experiences with the casino to confirm or talk of improvement in the smoking issue?
I know that many use the casino for "their personal smoking lounge". I wish Royal would provide an indoor area for them that is separate from the casino so casino players can enjoy the casino as a casino and not a smoking lounge.
We usually spend a lot of time in the casino and if it is consistently smoke filled that may not be the case on this cruise.
I know RCI is making improvements on many of the issues occurring - wondering if this is one area where anything is being done.

I am 59 days from sailing and still can't book entertainment but shore excursions have been available for as long as 100 days out. Unfortunately, the one shore excursion I want won't allow me to book 2 people. Not sure if that excursion is fully booked or an issue with the system (never can tell as the IT usually has a lot to be desired).
I keep hearing that we should be able to book entertainment this week - still waiting to see that happen.

Starting to get a little nervous about all the reports of extremely noisy cabins. Anyone stay in or very near 10572 (D7 Balcony) and can report on noise levels for this location?

Thank you Capt!
Of all the posts I read nothing really was mentioned about car returns although many asked about agencies open later. I knew you could drop off after hours just wasn't sure about what was in the area and if we would be able to get a cab back.
I know some info has said the shuttles run while ship is in port but Hertz specifically states 1 hour after open up to 1 hour before. I know there are 3 ships in port that same day so want to be prepared.
Your info will be very helpful!

I am planning to rent a car for the day to do my own excursion when we are in port (March 2015) through Hertz. I know there are shuttles that pick up and drop off but if you drop off after rental office hours, are they still running shuttles or do you have to find your own transportation back to the port?
If you have to find your own, are there taxi's in the area of the rental agency or do you need to bring a phone number with you to call one?
Anyone local or who has done this in the past know the answer?
Thanks in advance!

Ditto - used them last time we were there and had a great driver/great tour!

why would you be frustrated. If you book thru casino royal and get a discount a TA wouldn't get commission if any - so any OBC from a TA would be out of their pocket. Wouldn't make sense for them to do that for you.
My frustration is not with the TA but how it is treated. What's the difference if I apply it now against the cruise (like a cash payment) instead of getting there taking the cash and applying it to a credit card payment I made as final payment for the cruise? I guess I looked at it as cash is cash - whether the payment comes directly from me or from Casino Royale.
-
Has anyone booked a cruise with TA perks (i.e. OBC) and used a significant Casino Royale discount for their cruise fare (successfully)?
I was told that if I use the casino discount I can't get TA perks!! That's frustrating:mad:

Thank you! I didn't even notice - I usually do spell that right-LOL! Didn't mean to put a bad word on t here.
I believe we may have been on the Explorer together!

Anyone take a pic or have a scan of the Day 7 Portobella menu? It's not on RCI website of menus (****ake is listed instead)
-
We are on the Serenade in March and based on someone who went a few weeks ago (from the compass) the order will be (exactly what Garnett* posted)
Night 1 - Mojo
Night 2 - Saffron
Night 3 - Pimento
Night 4 - Pomodoro
Night 5 - Basil
Night 6 - Jasmine
Night 7 - Portobello
I was looking through some pics of menus posted and they look like they differ from what Royal has posted (the Jasmine menu I have from RCI as the Fisherman's plate but the picture of the Shiitake menu they had was the Jasmine menu I had - confused . Does anyone have pics of these menus or info on what's on them?
-
Anyone have a scan or picture of the Portabello menu from the main dining room? The link to the RCI menu's (pdf file) does not have this specific one and wondering what's on it.

Even if the gate is locked you can still see it (just can't walk up to it and read the names on the granite base). It is surrounded by a chain link fence where they lock the gate overnight.
