We booked through Radical Adventures for our cruise day in Roatan last week. We had an excellent day and could not have been more pleased with everything. The crew, snorkeling, food, and the catamaran were all top-notch!

Hello,
What is the earliest time Platinum passengers can board the Escape? We are new to Platinum and the Escape.
Thanks.

Does anyone know if there is any flexibility with the Moderno/LaCucina vouchers, if we wanted to go to a different restaurant instead?

Help, I am new to this. I do read cruise critic and have seen posts on cruise critic socials with ship officers. Has anyone put one together for the Sep 30 sailing?

Hi,
There is a roll call set up for that sailing. There is a separate section of forums with roll calls broken down by ship.

1. Yes, you can make the reservations for any number (subject to what the system is showing as available to you) regardless of how many are in your room.
2. You tell the staff how you will be paying when you arrive for the meal. However, the system assumes that the first ones you book will be covered by the SDP (just for the purposes of deciding whether to charge you for them when booking). That leads to...
3. Make sure you book Teppenyaki and Moderno first so the system will assume you are paying with the SDP, and not charge you. Any that are a la carte don't require a prepayment at all so do them last. If you are going to any that have an uncharge (like the dinner show or Bayamo) then do them early as well, so you are only charged the uncharge rather than the full amount.
The guide linked in my signature gives more details.
Thanks so much!

Hello,
My husband and I have the specialty dining package, and so does the other couple we are traveling with. They are in a separate cabin and our reservations are not linked. We are Platinum and they are not, so we have the two extra meals. We are cruising 9/30 on the Escape, so reservations are not open yet.
1) When making pre-cruise dining reservations, could I make them for all four of us, even though we are not in same cabin?
2) When you make the pre-cruise reservations, do you have to decide how you will pay? (SDP, platinum voucher, or a la carte?)
3) Do you have to pay up front if booking a meal not covered by SDP or platinum voucher?
Many thanks!

If you have the UDP on a 7 night cruise and eat at one of the upcharge restaurants such as Bayamo for $15, does that count as one of your 3 dinners?

I called NCL directly and they added it without having to rebook. I had just booked a few days earlier, and cabin price was the same. Thanks for the tip!

Hello,
If you book a free cabin through a Casinos at Sea promotion, are you required to gamble a certain amount while on that cruise?

Does anyone know what time you can actually use the spa on day 1? Is it just open for tours up until the muster drill?

Does the Breakaway spa have tea/juice/water available, the way the spa on the Gem does?

Good to know!

Unfortunately I've never seen an IPA, but tell your friend to look for Guinness Foreign Extra Stout. It comes in a bottle, and has higher ABV than regular Guinness. The Gem had it but only in some bars. We're headed to the Breakaway too and hope to find it.

Very cool, you will enjoy the spa, I plan on going Saturday morning after I run down to the casino for a few hours (beat the after breakfast people). I may even go Friday, my cousin wont get there until late afternoon so I may just hang in the hydro pool after lunch.
On the CTNs, do you know how early on sail away day the thermal area is fully up and running for those with spa passes?

Thanks!
Do you know what time the spa opened?

Looking forward to our first cruise on the Breakaway.
Are the rules for bringing wine aboard the same for 2 night cruises as they are for longer cruises?
Are the minibars really locked on these 2-nighters? I think I had read that somewhere.
How early is it possible to board?
Thanks!!

Has anyone stayed in a Breakaway Haven spa suite on the starboard side (such as 14732) and been bothered by noise from the fitness club above?

From St Thomas, we've done the champagne catamaran and snorkel trip to St. John. Excellent excursion . Last time we spent the whole time snorkeling with sea turtles.

If you have several sea days and are leaving in cold weather, I highly recommend getting a spa pass. When it's cold, it's a great place for sail away . Wall of windows at front of ship, saunas with sea views, wonderful place to relax.

On the Gem in Jan 2013, our CC group was invited on a behind the scenes tour.

We've done this exact itinerary two years in a row, most recently in February. Obviously we like it!
Here's what we did:
1) San Juan -- because we are there from 3 to 9, we took a cab straight to El Morro, explored the fort and surrounding area for a few hours (beautiful!), then walked back to the ship. There are many shops to stop in along the way and the architecture is fabulous.
2) St. Martin -- we go to the taxi stands at the port and share ride with others to Orient Beach. We had a pretty full van so I think it was $7 each, one way. If there are a lot of ships in port that day, you should go early because it can get pretty crowded. I've never been to any of the quieter beaches -- Orient is very busy and is not for everyone.
3) St. Thomas -- Through the ship, we booked the Champagne Catamaran snorkel excursion to St. John. Great excursion, fun crew, and we got to snorkel with sea turtles. If you book the morning trip, you have time to go a beach in the afternoon too.
4) Dominican Republic -- Gorgeous island; we're sorry NCL is dropping it. Definitely book an excursion. Through the ship, two years in a row we've taken the Catamaran Sail & Cayo Levantado Beach excursion. Excellent guide who provides tons of information about the area. First you stop at a little area where they serve locally grown fruit and coffee. Then we sailed to a terrific snorkeling area, and saw 2 whales along the way. They then drop you off at Cayo Levantado, which is a gorgeous beach. You take the ship's tenders back with everyone else.
Hope that helps; enjoy your cruise!!

We did the package on our 9-day Gem sailing and thought it was well worth it. The upcharge items were included.

We went on a snorkel excursion last week with Radical Adventures and it was excellent--our favorite excursion! We loved the snorkeling, and the food, including a sit-down lunch that was prepared on the catamaran, was fabulous. The crew was wonderful and very welcoming. I highly recommend!!
