  1.      I am happy that just a few of us had this experience on two or three ships.  Not sure about the cause or why it was for such a short time.  Just glad it is no longer an issue, and people can get mixed shots.  I would love to know why this was a short-lived event, but I assume I will never know.

Looking back, I could have made some changes to my post to be more direct and avoid all the chaos in this thread.  When you are on a cruise, it is easy to post out of passion and not think about being extremely precise in what you are saying so that people do not get triggered.  I would love to be able to edit or append the title and first post, but that is not possible for me to do.  I apologize for getting people wound up on this post; it was not my intent.

The title should have been something to the extent of.  “Currently on NCL Pearl, and they are not allowing mixed shots this cruise as of November 18th, 2022.”

And if I could re-write the first post, it would have this.

“We are currently on the NCL Pearl, and none of the bartenders are allowed to give out mixed shots at any of the bars.  Only straight shots are allowed at this time.  When I asked, they told me and others on the ship that “it was a directive from the corporate.”  I do not know if this is true, just what we were told during our cruise on the NCL Pearl from November 18th to the 29th, 2022.  Yes, we had the drink package.  We tried every bar other than the Heaven.”

You can only modify a post for 20 min after posting.  You cold make a new post in the thread, quoting the original post.  If people have read the post, and are logged in, they can click on the blue dot to the left of the thread and it will take them to the latest unread post.  Actually, I find clicking on the title of the thread takes me to the last unread post.

I think only the mods can pin a post.  You can click on the three little dots in the upper right of your original post, click on report, and ask for it to be pinned.  If they think it worthwhile, they will.  EM

Thanks, Essiesmon,  Yea I edited it once that day.  As more information came out over the day(s) details are getting lost in the thread.

That post (IMO) isn't more worthy than any other post for being pinned.  In my experience the mods wouldn't pin it.

I am not wanting it pinned in the overall.  What I am waiting for is another post in that thread/topic pinned at the top of that thread/topic.  I don't care if the overall topic gets buried.  Sorry for the confusion.

  4. If possible, I would like to update a topic so that people do not have to read a few hundred replies to see what is going on.

The topic in question is linked below.
What I believe would be helpful to add to the original post or pin to the top.
    Update:
This is not a companywide mandate; most ships still have layered/mixed shots.

Currently, only two ships have reported any issue at all, and it is not with every sailing.

    NCL Pearl and Breakaway

The staff on the ships say it is a company mandate, but this is not true.  No explanation for the temporary/select ban on layered shots on select ships.

Seems the narrative is bending that way...:classic_ohmy:

I don’t understand the hate and calling me a liar. I am happy it is not all ships but it has been some with no explanation.  This will be my last reply to you SeaShark.

Once again happy it is just select cruises, still does not change my experience nor others in this post.

TBH, nobody here is trying to draw that conclusion...the OP is the one that made the "fleetwide policy" claim outright.

When did I ever make the claim fleetwide?  I posted my experience on the Pearl.  Per all the bartenders on the Pearl they could not give out mixed/layered shots per corporate.  Did the the crew lie to us about corporate? possibly.

We've already got confirmation from both the Regional VP of Fleet Hotel Operations and from the Fleet Beverage Manager confirming that the reported ban on mixed/layered shots is untrue. Not understanding why we need further "verification"...🙄 @Sthrngary is correct...if this were true, there would be many threads of people upset about it...not to mention that other cruise sites & blogs would be reporting it as well. Yet all we have is one person making a claim and hearsay evidence from another.

Thanks SeaShark.  Guess I am just made it up for attention then.  🙄

  8. Just got off the NCL Pearl and had my worst point rating and on board credit at the end to date.  I have played in NCL ships many times and have earned Pearl status from table games before this cruise play less with less money.

I am aware that table games do not give much points, and that points and status are based on play time and money bet.

This eleven day cruse I spent over 30 hours on the tables and average bet was around $50 a roll on craps, $50 a spin on Roulette, and $25 a hand of black jack.

I did not even break half way in points to pearl to keep my status.

TLDR: Did NCL change the way they evaluate play or was I just luck the last few cruises with great pit bosses?

Could be corporate. Could also be a staffing/time issue. Maybe try different bars and develop a relationship with a bartender before ordering one. Having tended both sides of a bar in my life, most bartenders want to be accommodating and even want to prove the knowledge and abilities. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Yes the bartenders know the shots for sure. All bars said no, no matter time of day or if you know them and tip well.

Was not the case last week on Encore.

Not allowed to serve at all, or, not included in drink package?

We have the drink package and cruse  a lot on NCL.  First time denied shots at every bar. Only straight shots are allowed on NCL Pearl

Tried every bar, other than heaven.  All said no.Also I tip on average $2 per drink most of the bar tenders know me by name and happy to see me.

  13. Hello Inveterate Cruiser,

My experience on NCL playing Roulette is that I was rated based on playtime and average bet per play.  I also bet for the dealer about $1 to $2 a spin.  Avg night, the dealers would get about $200 in wins from the bets.

I will give you my experience from my last cruise.  It was on NCL Joy for seven days, I took $1K and spent most of my time on Roulette and Craps.  On average, I was in the casino playing for about six hours a day.  When playing Roulette, my average bet was $100 a spin on numbers.  That cruise put me at Pearl level in less than four days.  I was friendly with the staff and tried to get to know them without asking too many personal questions and being odd.  On day two, a chunk of the casino staff knew me by name and waved at me every time I went by.  Does this help?  I don’t know, but I know that it can’t hurt my odds of a better ranking by the pit boss.  One final note at the end of the cruise, I went to the rewards desk and asked if I had any credit.  They ended up adding $200 to my onboard account.

I am no expert, and your mileage will vary.

  15. Hello Middleager,

My wife and I went on a 14-day transatlantic cruise on the NCL Star back in 2018.  Midway through the cruise, they started running out of supplies.  One of the most memorable was the bloody mary mix and some food items.  At all of our stops, I did not notice any resupplies.  When I asked, they said they would get resupplied in the states.
