  1. Yeah, the odds are terrible...

But someone always seems to win...

And often it's someone fairly close to me...

A few years back, my secretary won $4 million...

She doesn't show up to work on Monday so I ask "Where's Barbara?" One of the other secretaries says "She must be sick"

I ask "Did she call in sick?"

The other secretary says "No. She must be REALLY sick"

This goes on for two days...

She walks into the office just before noon on the third day and she certainly doesn't look sick!

She asks to take the two weeks vacation she has coming to her...and six more weeks without pay in which "to figure out what she's going to do"...

Figure it out? I figured it out right away...

    She never returned to work...

Back in November, a pool of seven people at my company won $315 million!!

  2. We have 6053 booked on Millennium. How does 6035 differ? It looks like the 6053 has a bump out and a larger balcony. True?

    Here's the story...

The published deck plans are "not to scale"...There's a major error on the shape of Deck 6...When you look at the deck plans, it looks like the balcony edges are all aligned...BUT, look at a photo of any M-Class ship, you will see that right in front of the lifeboats, the shape of the ship juts out beyond the far edge of the lifeboats...That first cabin in front of the lifeboats (which are actually below deck 6) is #6035...There are EIGHT forward 2C cabins on either side of Deck 6 that have balconies that extend out to that line...The same is NOT true on Decks 7, 8 and 9...Only Deck Six...First 8 balcony cabins either side...

The cabin itself is the same size as the other 2Cs, the extra space is ALL Balcony...

6053 is an "ordinary" 2C with the standard sized balcony...

  3. We took this tour while on the Millennium in August 2003...and absolutely loved it...

We had only 19 passengers on the tour and the towns were beautiful...

Better yet was the lunch at the winery...On most of the other full day tours we took, the lunches were very good, but somewhat pedestrian (nice restaurants in Sorrento, Eze, Rome...a hotel restaurant in Athens)...but the lunch here was MEMORABLE...They served it all family style to the 19 of us RIGHT in the wine cellar, amidst the barrels (great--nice and cool on a hot August day)...plate after plate of every kind of antipasti...mushrooms, olives, cheeses, breads, cold cuts, peppers...and lots of salad and pasta...and wine and more wine and more wine (no one tried to hard sell me anything...we just FEASTED...afterwards, I did go up into the shop and purchased a couple of bottles of wine...because I WANTED TO)...

Anyway, there was plenty of free shopping time in Volterra and San Gim...

    Enjoy...

  4. I'm a California Golden Bear. I hope to see your Bruins at Memorial Stadium in October for our homecoming.

    Now, Laurie...

What is the "all-time" Cal record against the Bruins?

UCLA 47, Cal 26 with one tie...

I always love heading up to Berzerkley for the game...

    My favorite?

1978...I believe it was the inaugural "Joe Roth Memorial Game"...

The Golden Bear Quarterbacks put on an awesome display that day...record-setting in fact...

    ...and generous to a fault...

They through more passes and more touchdowns to Bruins than they did to their own receivers...

TEN interceptions for 194 yards and 4 touchdowns...on interception returns...

Final score: UCLA 45, Cal 0...

Yeah, Cal's had a few "bright spot" close upsets...like that 2000 game...sure helped that our top 2 QBs went out with injuries and the refs gave Cal three chances at the winning field goal...but, hey, those things happen...

Of course, we could always talk Basketball...

You really don't want to know the all-time record there either... :) :) :) :)

  5. Just to chime in here...We used Coastal while in Juneau on the Summit back in July...They were absolutely fantastic...Picked us up on time at the ship (actually they came looking for us), pleasant drive to the airport to pick up the copter...everything was well done with the utmost in professionalism...and it was an experience we won't soon forget...
