  1. So happy to be on the Conquest's first trip back!

In my room I found a cute little gift bag from the players club with a lanyard with a complimentary drink pass for while playing in the casino!

I've never gambled on board before? I have cheers already and  not planning on playing unless they'll let me go over my 15! LOL

Any questions let me know! This is my first solo and I'm in a balcony.

Getting married on board is a paperwork nightmare.   I know because we are doing it.  They don't explain about all the obscure documents you will need, until after they have taken your $$$.  Take my advice and find another way to get married.   Especially if you have been married before or are a widow.

It's been since 08 but it was super easy and low cost to get married for us. I hope your experience gets better!

  3. Yes, any charges you make to your account, including tips, will be deducted from OBC that you have before it is charged to your card.

Cruise Cash is like putting cash on your account ahead of time, and yes, that is used like OBC so it would be used for any charges made with your sail and sign before charging your chosen method of payment.

Got my Pfizer Booster shot last week and unfortunately I got the full side effects, chills, night sweats, and sore in the arm, fever.  It started around the 10th hour after injection and by the 24th hour it was all gone except for the arm soreness.  I had a reaction to both shots so I was mentally prepared but physically not so much.

This was me yesterday. Slept for 17 hours yesterday according to my FitBit, but I'll do it again in 6 months if they say it'll help protect me and my community!

  5. What would I change...

    1) take cheers on HMC and Princess Cay. The infrastructure is there to make it possible to connect to the ships system if they really wanted to.

    2) more importantly, make the drink package unlimited, then there's not really a worry about not being able to keep track of what number a person is at, because there is no limit!

    3) Annd, I want robes for all cabin types. It's a stupid little thing, but dang it, I like having a robe in the closet to wear when I get up in the morning or while I'm doing my makeup for dinner or whatever.

Frankly, I’m always shocked at the idea of Cheers people drinking 10+ drinks per day.  I’d fall over the railing if I had 3 drinks within a few hours.  #Lightweight #CheapDrunk

On a sea day it's not hard, really. If you're up around 8ish and start with a mimosa or bloody mary, and just have a drink every hour or so, by 11pm you've had 15 and you've probably not felt all that drunk.

If you're a one-and-done kinda gal you could still do one drink every other hour and still come out on top if you are having coffee, soda, virgin drinks in between!

  7. I've cruised to the Bahamas several times and I love it, but I've never been to Bermuda, so I can't compare directly. Yes, there are some vendors who are bit more pushy, but I think even aggressive is a bit harsh. They just need more than one "No, thank you". The beaches, in general, are beautiful. If you are going to a bigger place like Nassau, there can be some decent shopping. I remember we snorkeled in Grand Cayman and that was lovely. There's usually excursions through the cruise line or ones you can book independently if you want a more guided experience and if you get some kind of tour you can learn a lot about the local culture of the island you're on.

The ID Now test is a rapid test and is not a PCR test (it is a molecular test) and therefore according to the above it is not acceptable.

I think they are clarifying that if a test says it's a "rapid test" it still counts. NAAT tests listed are all acceptable no matter how fast or slow your results come back.

ETA: Because the ID NOW test is a molecular test, it is included in the list and is acceptable.

I don’t think it matters why some people prefer not to vacation while wearing masks. Not everybody thinks alike or has the same preferences. It’s ok.

I am very uncomfortable with masks covering my nose and mouth. Maybe it dates back to me getting anesthesia when I was having surgery at age 5 and having something placed over my face. I don’t know, but I will avoid wearing masks when I can.

Vacationing with strict mask requirements on a cruise ship is not something I would enjoy. Wasting thousands of dollars on a vacation I would not enjoy would be silly. It’s ok for people to feel differently about things.  It’s personal preference.

TN, I didn't think of extenuating circumstances like that. Certainly not SPD but could be a very real source of discomfort. I hope those who are unable to cruise with masks are able to get their refunds or rebook for a time when they'll be more comfortable.

But yet many people are affected and nobody can know the depth of someone's sensory level or challenges. So this is a great post to show that not all people deal with the same things and someone else may be floored with something you shrug off. Love each other and try to see their side before you condemn anyone. They might surprise you with a perspective you didn't think was relevant.

I was not saying that with malice, I promise. I was saying that with compassion. I am unable to understand having SPD to that extent. I have some sensory issues that come along with my anxiety, but thankfully nothing severe. But I think a LOT of the people upset about masks "ruining" their vacation neither have nor have heard of Sensory Processing Disorder.

  11. Just checked in for our masked up August cruise. Extra steps kinda stink, but we are already starting to re-mask when we're out and about again. We've been vaccinated since April but IMO It's better to be safe than sorry. And wearing a mask has never made my day more or less bad. I can't imagine being so sensory challenged that a mask is a huge deal. I'm really sorry for those folks with sensory processing disorders who are upset about that. Those without who are just whiney, well, I am happy to not see you on my cruise!

  12. The vaccine survey is different from the health assessment. Everyone seems to have gotten an email to confirm their vaccination status for the upcoming July and August cruises and it is probably causing some problems with the website loading correctly for most people. I assume if you give it an hour and then clear your cookies/cache/temporary internet files/whatever it is you're supposed to clear, you'll see the updated survey and be able to submit it.

  13. I'm in the exact same boat (pun intended).

I assume they're updating the website to reflect the new vaccine survey but might have sent the email out before the website went live, leading to a LOT of traffic on their site at once when they're trying to make the updates.

Give it a couple hours/day and it should work perfectly fine.

i tried the refill the wine bottle trick in galveston. the lady at the check desk said the color is off 🙄 and we need to open it if you want to bring it onboard, i said just keep it and walked off.  lesson learned.

Oh dear! We used food coloring to make sure the color was right when we did it! LOL

  15. Back in the day we may or may not have simply NOT stopped at the "turn in your booze" table when coming in from port. They see it in your bag and ask you to turn it in, but if you get back in a crowd it's easy to just keep walking. Not condoning or anything. Just saying. Then you're not paying tax on it either...

I live close to Travers City, MI which is a tourist town, we do get some cruise ships that stop here.  I checked into one but for the price I could do a 7 day Carnival cruise with cheers and airfare included. I would do a great lakes cruise if it was more affordable.

And I think it's important to remember that people in the Traverse City area, when told that a bigger ship would like to dock in west bay, were UP IN ARMS! The infrastructure in this area is not well equipped to add an extra several hundred people every couple of days on top of the peak of tourist season. You wouldn't get the happy "we're so glad you're here" if you dock your ship in our bay. LOL

Hear me out, fellow passengers.  Post-pandemic, there just has GOT to be a seasonal market for Great Lakes cruises.  I know there are already several high end outfits doing this on rather smallish cute little mini cruise ships. This is not what I am talking about at all.

I'm talking about a new, purpose-built, biggest that can get through the locks and canals, Carnival-branded, family oriented, amenity laden, modern vessel with a US and Canada itinerary. It seems with the endless and growing hassles of air travel, and the concerns coming out of our little minor recent public health issue, something out of, say, Cleveland or Toledo, would be able to attract enough passengers to fill up a warm-weather schedule.

Seriously! I know talks come up on this topic from time to time but let's assume a hotshot designer could get enough passengers and stuff on a big, but small enough, ship to appeal to megaship aficionados to do closed loops of 3, 4, 5, 7, or 11 nights, for example from the American Midwest. What other barriers exist and how do we all convince John Heald's bosses to overcome them and  move forward?

Uhhhh, No thanks. People in the towns along the great lakes aren't really interested in sharing. LOL

Honestly, I'm really intimidated by Alchemy.  I'm not a very knowledgeable drinker so I usually order the same boring, basic drinks everywhere I go.  I'm really hoping the creativity and vibe in general help me break out of that shell.

Many of the bartenders will also help you pick something you'll like. You can tell them your favorite drink or that you like something sweet or dry or whatever it is you like about your chosen drink and they'll work with you to make something custom if they aren't slammed!

  19. I like the vibe, TBH. It's usually in a bit of a quieter area and you're not sitting there wading through the masses like at the pool bars. You're not there to get a frozen daiquiri, you're there to have a creative cocktail and chill out.
