  1. Wife and I went on the Horizon back in the middle of February and had a great time. We went out of Miami. I posted about it after we got home. What I didn't mention was I lost my car keys somewhere between the front of the terminal and our cabin. My wife had a set so we had no trouble getting home to Ohio. I found online that Carnival has a "lost and found" system at the ports and got registered. Figured they were lost and mostly glad car was still there. I got a call yesterday from a gal at Carnival, they found my keys. I was flabbergasted. It will save me several hundred dollars on replacement. Kind of restores your faith in people and businesses. I know it's corny but it was kind of a feel good moment. Just thought I would share.

  2. Less than a week before departure. We were scheduled for Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios, and Cozumel. I knew Grand Cayman was closed to cruise ships and was hoping for Honduras or Belize. The wind was high and seas were rough so we did not stop at Half Moon Cay at all. We had been to Grand Turk before and spent the day at Margaritaville. There was a Holland America ship there before us and their people had all the beach chairs so we just sunned at the pool at Margaritaville. At Amber Cove we booked the Cocconut Cove all inclusive beach day which turned out great. We booked that right on the ship.

  3. Wife and I just got home from week on Horizon and wanted to say what a good time we had. Although we were originally going to the Western Caribbean our cruise ended up going to Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, and Amber Cove. Since we live in Northeaster Ohio and had almost a foot of snow on the ground, we went anyway. I have to say I cannot imagine better food, service, or entertainment than what we experienced on the Horizon. I cannot say enough good things about our room steward. He was supper attentive and brought us ice twice a day. The whole ship seemed spotless and clean. I don't know how full the ship was but in todays labor shortages at home, there seemed to be plenty of help on the ship. We missed the sail away party on our first cruise, what a great way to start your cruise. The live stage shows were fabulous. The comedy club shows were funny. It took us 2 years and 4 re-bookings to finally get our cruise in but it was worth it. Planning the next one now.

  4. This Sunday on the Horizon. Originally to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. Now, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, and Amber Cove. We have been to Grand Turk and Amber Cove. Grand Turk was great but we didn't really care for Amber Cove. Half Moon Cay looks nice but just beach. As this is only our second cruise we wanted Western Caribbean, and have had 3 previous bookings cancelled.

  5. I am guessing this has been on here before. Our cruise coming up this Sunday has had the itinerary changed to places we have been to before and do not really want to go to again. I have a call in to my PVP. Does anybody know if I can cancel or rebook with no penalty? Will I lose my OBC? Thanks

  6. We are getting liquor in room and want limes for drinks. Can I bring them in luggage? Where can I get them on ship? Also do I have to carry CPCP machine on ship or can I put in luggage. Canival website says carry on but wondered if allowed in luggage. Thanks

  7. Sorry to ask as I am sure I have seen it on here recently, but I have been looking for over an hour and cannot find it. We cruise in 2 weeks and I have not gotten the pre boarding health questionaire. We had planned to visit our daughter on the way to Miami, but they tested positive last week. Is anyone able to post the questions or tell me where to find them, so we will know if we can visit or not? Thanks to all

  8. We had a cruise cancelled back when Covid first started. We had preordered beverages for the room, and excursions pre-paid with gift cards. We paid everthing with gift cards. We rebooked a lower priced cruise and got gift card refund for cruise within a couple months. We got gift card refund for excursions within 4 to 6 months. We got gift card refund for preordered beverages within 4 to 6 months. This was when Covid first started and everthing was a mess and took forever. There were 3 different refund cards, I think they come from different departments at Carnival. I don't think we got any kind of notification about the refunds, they just showed up in the mail.

  9. We have OBC for our upcoming cruise that I assume goes on our sign and sail card. I also have some refunded Carnival gift cards I was thinking about putting on the cards as well. Is there any order that Carnival uses the funds as you spend them on the ship?  I know the OBC is use it or loose it, whereas a balance on the gift cards could be refunded. I'm thinking they use the gift cards first. Can I pay for stuff ordered for the room after embarcation with the gift cards or sign and sail card only? Thanks

  10. We found our first PVP on Facebook. She did a great job of guiding us through our first cancelled cruise and rebooking. I think she has left the company. Our current PVP I may have found on Google. He has taken real good care of us with all our rebookings. I usually find the cruise and call him. He has gotten us better deals than I could get on my own. With all the Covid rebookings and FCC he has handled everything with ease. Just a phone call or e-mail.

  11. Maybe that is what happened, and I didn't pay close enough attention to what the PVP was saying as he went through all the numbers. The cruise was not cancelled. We had a November cruise that they changed the itinerary on. We didnt want to go to the new destinations. They gave us 14 days to rebook with no penalty.

  12. We paid for our original cancelled 2020 cruise and excursions with gift cards. Took the $600 OBC offer and rebooked a more expensive cruise. Got gift card refund for original excursions. Used gift card to pay balance on rebooked cruise. Second cruise cancelled. Rebooked again with lower price casino offer. Got gift card refund for difference. $600 OBC carried over, plus $200 casino credit. Just rebooked again with killer casino offer, about half price from previous booking. No gift card refund, but $1200 OBC, plus $200 casino credit. PVP seems like a good guy, have used him before, but he talked fast and went around and around without really explaining. It seemed to add up right and I didn't think it all out at the time. I didn't loose anything, but would have prefered a refund gift card for difference. Would prefer to not have all that OBC. Seems like they gave us OBC instead of refund. Anyone know about this?  Thanks

  13. I was reading another post about prepaid gratuity, and one responder mentioned using OBC. I have just rebooked for the 4th time and I opted for the prepaid gratuity. I have a lot of OBC. How would I use OBC to pay gratuites while on my cruise? Can I use it for tips?  My last and only cruise I prepaid and used cash for all tips.

  14. My May 10th cruise was cancelled March 30th. All paid with GC. Took the FCC and OBC.  Re-booked within a week with PVP.

Took about a week for all FCC and OBC to transfer. Cruise, gratuities, and taxes all paid with FCC. Received GC refund yesterday for excursions. Still waiting on room purchases refund. Only about 6 weeks, so pretty happy!

  15. While surfing on Cruisemapper.com I see ships at port and at sea near ports. In a day or so they seem to change places. I thought I read on an older post once that cruise ships do not hook up to shore power. I have no clue of the economics of shutting down and starting up a ship. I understand there is reduced crew on board. Would it be better to fill a couple of ships with those crew people and just keep the minimum number of ship moving? I know the Panorama is ferrying crew home. Just curious!!!
