  1. After 20 CCL cruises, I have NEVER needed magnets, shoe organizers, fan, alarm clock, post it notes, boards...etc.  Only useful item is a couple hangars (but you can get them from your room steward) and a small power bar or a wall socket thing to plug a few things (camera, phone) at once.

Not a 'hack'...but a hammock for the balcony is nice, bungee cords to keep the door open, and insulated Bubbas to keep the beer I smuggle nice and cold when on deck.

Oh, I guess smuggling beer is a hack......buy some Coke......

If you have a cabin with a Balcony and need to quickly cool the room or quickly purge the... um... fumes from a recent bathroom visit, prop the balcony door fully open and then open your cabin door for a few seconds. The positive pressure from the inside part of the ship will blow your cabin air(and lose papers if your not careful) out the balcony.

    Been there, done that...

  3. Thanks for your reply! Did you prefer one serenity area over the other?

Not really. Didn't really spend any time in the Serenity area when we had a cove balcony. Spent most of our time there.

  4. I have been on both classes of ships. They are similar; but the bigger the ship, the more crowds there will be.

I would choose between the ships based on the amenities. I would consider the 'adult only' areas, cove balcony (Magic), etc. I would compare where I would spend most of my time based on the location of my cabin.

But most of all, I would compare the cost of the cabin as these ships are similar.

  5. Take the taxi.

Man, if you're not a local and very familiar with the rules of the road and something happens,,,,, you are royally screwed.

I'm not even talking about a severe car crash. Just a small minor incident where there is no damage. The tourista police get involved and if they cant solve the problem, then the federales get involved.

You can bet your sweet bippy that you are going to lose the battle.

Agreed. I would never rent a car in Mexico.

  6. I had debated a cove balcony on our last cruise but was curious about the sunshine too - thanks for the advice on that!! Can the cove balconies connect like the ones on higher decks?

I know that they have doors that open between the balconies as they come by and lock the cabin doors from the outside during rough seas. I just do not know if they can leave them open like regular balconies.

  7. Do any of the cove balconies on the Breeze get sun on them? If so, is there a way to determine which ones prior to booking?

2260/2/4 do not have life boats above the balconies (same on other side) as far as I can remember. These rooms are in the 'gap' between the lifeboats which provide a better view and a bit more sun.

  8. Way to answer the question. Thanks

You are flaming me because I gave my opinion on your question pertaining to lower cost excursions?

If you book at a lower rate through an independent, it seems a lot less hassle than going through 'hoops' as described here....

    Wow....

Keep booking through Carnival. They really need people like you....

  9. Yes, but you need to make sure that they offer a full refund for any amount prepaid if Carnival ends up canceling the port and you miss the excursion. This is definitely and advantage to booking through Carnival because you are guaranteed a refund if the port is missed.

Yes absolutely. Most do. You just have to do your homework and check the Ports of call section for reviews.

  10. I don't really understand the desire to stick it out on the ship as long as possible. From our experience, they don't make staying on the ship on debarkation day the most comfortable or pleasant. Their goal is to turn that ship over. They don't want people sticking around nor would I really want to try that hard. To me, is really isn't any more pleasant sitting on the ship or sitting at the airport. They are both just about the same. Might as well get it out of the way and just get to the airport where I can relax until the flight.

Ship: Free ice cream, beverages, nice views, breeze, fresh air...

Airport: $5 muffins, no free self serve ice cream, stuffy, crowded

    Ship Wins....

  11. Last time I had a 5:00 flight, I tried to be the last one off the ship. I was waiting to hear my name called by the CD.....never did....

I was asked to leave by quite a few crew members...and finally left when I did not see anyone else.

When I left, I asked if I was the last one, and was told there were over a hundred more!!

Not sure where THEY were hiding.....
