We are premiered.  Plus was a lock, we think there will be enough value in the specialty and the casual dining to justify the add-on.  I'm interested to see what drink options I would have missed out on—top shelf old fashioned sounds great.

    The amaretto manhattan is fabulous!!!

Happy New Year cruisers! Just got off the Dec 24 - 31 Bliss sailing to the Mexican Riviera and wanted to share my experience in case it might be helpful.

A little about me to start: My husband and I are in our early 40s. We traveled without kids or any other family. This was my second cruise — my first was on the Bliss to Alaska back in October.

Overall: I had a good time, enjoyed the ports, and have a very favorable opinion of NCL. But I would probably never do a Christmas or holiday cruise ever again. It was incredibly crowded (4970 passengers) and there were way too many kids (a crew member told me that it was about 1/3). To be fair, I expected this going in, but what I underestimated was just how many inconsiderate parents there are out there. I tried to adjust my schedule to things that I assumed would be more adult and this mostly worked, but it was still a little more than I bargained for. It was not uncommon, for example, for kids to be  running up and down the cabin hallways late at night, or in the theater before presentations. There was even one lady who tried to have her preteen kids sit front row at an adult comedy show. (Multiple staff asked her to leave, but she didn’t budge until she was shamed by multiple passengers!)

Now that I’ve got that off my chest, I’ll tell you a bit more about various aspects of the trip, if you’re still interested. 🙂 (Will also post the dailies in a bit.)

    Embarkation

I expected embarkation to be a nightmare because we didn’t have luggage tags or boarding passes (lesson learned: edocs stop being available 72 hours before sail!). We got to the port at 950 because we weren’t sure how much of a problem this would be. Turns out it wasn’t- they had a table out for those who didn’t have tags, and the security person was able to look up our name to get us past the checkpoint. Overall, it probably took us an extra 5 minutes. The waiting area had lots of seats, and once they started boarding, it moved quickly. We were on board and enjoying drinks shortly after 11am despite not having any priority status.

As for the port itself, the surrounding area was very clean, and the parking felt safe ( not like the Seattle port where we came back to see that multiple cars had their windows smashed). We got a spot two minutes from the luggage area and it was $20/night.

    TBC…

Was there a glow party on this cruise? If yes, do you remember which night? Thanks

We are going out of San Francisco in October… does anyone know how to obtain a wheelchair for embarkation while going through the lines and up the ramp? It won’t be needed while onboard but during embarkation and debarkation, it would be helpful…

My husband requires this same assistance. We've never had an issue in any port. Always wheelchair assistance is available. Just ask.

We have cruise summer 25 and bought Premier package. Used app to book 2 speciality dining times as already slots disappearing. Received credit card statement this morning to find both slots have been charged for instead of credit applied and reservations no longer appear in app. Has this happened to anyone else and how did you go about getting refund

One of my reservations used the credit but my 2nd reservation charged my credit card $78. The rep at Princess told me to go to guest services on board and they will fix it.

Is your walker one of the small collapsible ones? Can you DH easily carry the walker up and down steps when needed? If so, you shouldn't have a problem on Princess tenders.

Yes and yes! Ty for your responses. Much appreciated.

How mobility impaired are you? It makes a difference in a tender port. Also, do you have someone traveling with you who can help you? (I'm not asking for you to answer these questions online. I'm just asking the questions that you need to know the answer to in order to look at your options.)

If you use a cane or collapsible walker, no problem. The crew will help you on and off the tender. They will take the collapsible walker on the tender.

If you use a collapsible wheelchair, Princess will take it on the tender. They will also help you on and off the tender. You would need to be able to walk a short distance without the wheelchair.

If you are wheelchair confined, then you probably can't take the tender.

if you have a motorized wheelchair or scooter, they probably won't be able to put it on the tender.

My wife uses a cane and has no problems on a tender.

Ty for this. I use a walker and can walk on my own and go up and down stairs. It is more a balance issue. Yes, my DH will be at my side!

Hopefully when they refund the money it goes back to our CC. I understand that in some cases (not necessarily for a restaurant booking error like this perhaps), they will only refund  with OBC and not to the CC. We'll find out when we board I guess

I was told by chat person that it would go back to my CC. We shall see.

I'm on that cruise.  Skagway is a tender due to the rock slides closing one pier. It's on your personalized somewhere.. maybe travel summary?

I thought I had run across it but don't remember where. I'll go back through. Ty!

You will dock in Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. The only port I haven’t been to is Icy Straight but I looked at your itinerary and it doesn’t say that this is a water shuttle port so you should dock here as well. When you look at the itinerary on the Princess website it will indicate if any of the port stops require a water shuttle (tender).

    Enjoy your cruise!

    Ty!

  10. We are on the Sept 16 Alaskan cruise on Majestic. I am mobility impaired and am trying to find out if any of our ports on this particular itinerary are tendered. Can someone point me in the right direction to get info or already have the info?  Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and Icy Straight Point.

    Ty!!!

I’ve had it twice with the Premier and nada.  The first time I was entered into a drawing (you had to be present to win) and I was scheduled for my first 360 Dining.  I chose 360 dining when thinking about the odds.

I would never buy it as a stand alone. I got the Premier to use expiring credits.  Will stick with Plus as I don’t drink much.

    Wise choices all around!

    Just one man's opinion:

Carnival Corporation is not going to pay down their $26 billion debt by paying you to open the door to your cabin.

We are fans and supporters of Princess. But don't make any decisions based on opening your cabin door.

Trust me, decision to upgrade had nothing to do with opening my cabin door. I am merely curious.
