  1. Hoping to get an update on our Jaguar Ziplining and Cave Tubing excursion through Carnival. About 2 weeks ago we received an email stating the road to this excursion was closed. I tried to look it up but cannot find the names of any roads or closures through the Internet.

Does anyone happen to have an update? Carnival said we would find out more once we boarded next week and if the road was still impassable they would find a"comparable" excursion.

  2. Input needed....we are sailing on the Breeze in a few days and will be gone over New Year's Eve. I would like to take the family (2 adults - 5 adult children) to a specialty restaurant on New Year's Eve.

Should we choose Cucina del Capitano or the Steakhouse?

The Steakhouse says "nominal fee of $35.00 per person", however, I couldn't find any prices for Cucina del Capitano....

Thanks in advance for your help!

  3. Need some advice. ....We will have seven in our party for the Breeze in a few days and have MTD for dinner. My goal is for everyone to come together at least for dinner each day.

What time would be best to gather them up to head down for the best wait time and when should we avoid going?

We are not exactly traveling with the most patient of ages (20, 21, 22, 24, 24 - yikes that does sound scary doesn't it!? ).

  4. We sailed on the Triumph last month. This was our second time on the Triumph in the last few months so we decided to do the "Behind the Fun Tour". We were so glad we did!!

We had FTTF so we boarded at 11:30 and went straight to the Excursions desk. She put our name on her clipboard list (we were the second family to sign up) and then she reminded us it was $90 per person. We agreed to the price (there were only 3 of us so not too bad) and she told us it would be the last sea day and that more information would come with the tickets over the next couple of days.

On the final sea day we were told to meet in the library at 9:30 a.m. for a light breakfast and quick orientation. The greeter (HR Director, Amit) took our tickets and checked our shoes (must have closed toed shoes) and gave us our lanyard with our Behind the Fun pass. We had already eaten so we grabbed some juice and sat down in the library to wait on additional passengers. When everyone was there (16 I believe were in our group) we were wanded by security to make sure we didn't have cameras or phones - yes there were two who didn't read all of the guidelines and had to run their phones back to their cabins. Then we headed off for our fun. We literally went ALL over this ship in corridors and hallways - to the very front of the ship where the Triumph Bell is located (we were allowed to gather for a group photo - taken by the ship's photographer). We went to the crew cafeteria (we paused here for cookies!) and bar areas, we saw pictures of a sample crew quarters, we saw the laundry (extremely fascinating - there is a GIANT sheet pressing machine in there so the passengers never have to sleep on wrinkled sheets!!!), engine room - very technical - we were kept behind a rope area and did not get close to any controls. The kitchen/galley was AMAZING!! How they prepare all of that food every single day - it is just fascninating. The head chef patiently answered all of our questions, his assistant showed us some cullinary delights (how to make flowers from veggies) and then we were treated to chocolate covered strawberries!! We were shown the refrigerated areas and freezers (so much beef!) as well as the room where they store all of the beer and liquor! WOW!

The highlight of the tour is of course the bridge and meeting the captain. He greeted us at the door, shook everyone's hand and welcomed us. We were all very respectful of the space (it is HUGE) but were allowed to get close to the controls. The view is spectacular. We were there about 25 minutes (he answered every single question!!!) and then we all go to take family pictures with the captain. We were really impressed with the amount of time he gave to us. This was our favorite part of the tour.

Then we were led back through to one of the dining rooms where we enjoyed cookies and apple juice and were given our bag of goodies (cute backpack, hat and lanyard - all with the Behind the Fun logo on them) and a soap sculpture. We were given a survey and rated our awesome guide - Amit.

The tour lasted about 4 hours. 100% worth the money!

We arrived back to our rooms to two plates of giant chocolate covered strawberries - delicious!!

That night (about 9:00 p.m.) three giant envelopes arrived with three 8X10's in each one (you get a set for every person in your group that went on the tour) - the pictures were 1) front of the ship group 2) group with captain 3)family with captain.

I highly recommend the excursion - super fun way to spend your last sea day morning!

  5. We just got off the Triumph yesterday - what a wonderful ship! We did the Behind the Fun tour and when we asked what was going to be done during drydock we were told mostly cosmetics - in particular they said they were painting the hull of the ship (that's usually underwater while sailing). They were already starting preparations in the crew only areas on Wednesday to get ready so you they should be finished by the time you sail on her! Hoping you guys get on early!! Most employees said they were staying onboard during drydock since it's so short and were looking forward to getting their work assignments - so rooms could be ready pretty early! Have so much fun!

  6. We are on the Triumph now - its about 4 hours late due to zero availability fog. The staff has made us all very comfortable - we were allowed to stay in our rooms (we had a balcony so stayed put going out occasionally for one more ice cream cone!). They showed movies in the Rome Theater and at the pool. Feeling bad for the people who are waiting to get on!

  7. Progresso is one of our favorite ports - authentic Mexico. You won't find a Starbucks or chain restaurants there but that is part of why we love it so much. If you have never seen the ruins if swam in a Cenote (blissful on a hot, humid day) take an excursion and experience it. There's open market shopping at the bus pick up to take you back down the long pier and it is easy to catch a free ride there. The beach massages are cheap and actually pretty good! Super easy to find (look for the white tents). The vendors are everywhere but a simple "no thank you" sent them along.

We love the Triumph - one of my favorite ships - enjoy!

  8. We took this excursion for our Christmas cruise - we weren't overly impressed for the high cost of the ticket. There were literally thousands and thousands of cruise boat pax there and the lines were really long. The line to ride the iconic slide was about 90 minus so we skipped it. The aquarium was amazing and the lines very maneagable but water activities were packed to the limit. We visited with a family who was actually staying at Atlantis and they commented that they were disappointed at the number of cruise ships that came there each day - they said their only peaceful time was after 4:00 when the cruise ships departed but the rides closed at 5:00 so they only had a few minutes to enjoy. Crazy.

  9. Yes - there were many backpacks allowed through. We took a small drawstring type with no problem. There were two guides on our Carnival excursion - they were both great but one moved a little faster so we jumped into his group. The Cenote was the last part of the tour. We are going back next month - taking my husband this time. The Cenote was just amazing. Really enjoyed this excursion.
