Explorer Adults Only Section
Hookedoncruising! replied to vwgolf's topic in Marella Cruises (formerly Thomson)
Hi vwgolf, The explorer does have a large sundeck for adults only. -
Hi LadyJayne, You can checkin online 48 hours before departure. I think the boarding passes are given out at the airport when you checkin. If you have a Tui shop nearby, pop in and they will help you. We are going to ours on Friday to get any printing we need done. We preferred the old way of doing as well š Enjoy your cruise.

Group Esta for a couple
Hookedoncruising! replied to Hookedoncruising!'s topic in Marella Cruises (formerly Thomson)
Thankyou so much for replying. Much appreciated. I think we might pop into a T.A to check, just to be on the safe side. -
Hi all, I applied for a group esta for hubby and myself. It has been approved, but only my name is showing up on it. Is this correct? I think it is as it as says one person and their details is the contact. Just want to make sure. Thanks for any advice.

OMG! There was a fire onboard? Was it bad? A shame the cruise is cancelled but getting a full refund is great. -
Food offering for late embarkation time
Hookedoncruising! replied to Martha1974's topic in Marella Cruises (formerly Thomson)
We arrived late in Corfu last October, and the food was absolutely dire. The wine in the buffet was inedible too. Also this year a late arrival in a hotel with Tui, it was abysmal. The money we are paying, they should ensure there is something decent to eat after travelling. -

Glad to hear it šš» You would feel so much better not having the stress of driving such a distance beforehand, and could chill out the night before. Hope you manage to find somethingš¤ Enjoy your cruise. -

Oh my goodness! Thats a long drive. Have you never thought of booking into a hotel with parking for the night before? Its sometimes not much dearer than paying for parking, and you would feel much better going for a long flight. Just a thought. -

I really donāt think they should be allowed to sail with the present situation. Its disappointing to have your cruise cancelled at short notice, but far better than to be ill and confined to your cabin. -

Hi Snowhill. Thankyou for replying. Surely Fred Olsen should not be allowed to sail until the ship has been thoruoghly deep cleaned, which must surely take days or even a week to make sure it is safe for passengers and crew to embark. I really feel sorry for people who have booked the cruise leaving today. We certainly would not want to board. A cruise is meant to be a nice relaxing holiday, but i donāt think there will be many relaxed people onboard after this happening. -

Hi TwoTravellersLondon, Yes, i read that and it is very interesting as you said. How on earth can they deep clean a cruise ship in 2 or 3 hours? I read that they lost a court case a while ago for the same thing, so you would think they would be extra vigilant in ensuring passengers health and safety. Iām just glad we havenāt booked, and i pity those that have and are leaving tomorrow. I donāt think it would be a relaxing holiday at all. I hope all that all who have been ill make a swift recovery. -

Take one with you just incaseā¦š i always wear a long evening dress on that one night, but each to their own. Enjoy your cruise whatever you wear. -

Some people still wear evening dresses. Wear whatever you want to wear. Some people donāt bother dressing up at all, but we feel it is part of the cruise. Whatever floats your boat š -
Just read in the Daily Record that there has been a bad outbreak of Norovirus or some kind of stomach bug on Balmoral. Ship was delayed embarking for 2 hours to be ācleanedā but virus wasnāt mentioned. The next departure will be delayed for 3 hours to be ācleanedā. Surely it needs a thorough deep clean before allowing more passengers onboard. I feel so sorry for the 100 people or so who have been affected and confined to their cabins. What a nightmare, and an expensive one at that! Never travelled with Fred before, but we were comtemplating it. Donāt think we would go near it now. This seems to happen too often on this cruiseline. They really need to have more respect for their passengers and make sure hygiene is up to standard.

Azamara
Hookedoncruising! replied to Hookedoncruising!'s topic in Marella Cruises (formerly Thomson)
After watching a video on youtube showing the food on Azamara, and also reading some reviews, i think the quality and choice of food looks much better than Marella. We have done 6 Marella cruises and the standard has definitely dropped food and drinkwise since covid. Unfortunately the prices are getting ridiculous. We are still putting the feelers out to maybe try another cruise line. I really donāt see a problem with the crew saying welcome home when you are boarding after being off the ship. Each to their own though. -

Thanks Britboys šš» I donāt think we would drink Ā£40 each a day. Good to know that tips are no longer required thoughš
