Interested in experiences with this.    I am hoping it won't be a red-eye 🙂

Ours is early ( first leg). However we are sailing from port Orlando and arrive at airport @11:30  then a 45 minute drive to port. Everything is scheduled through ncl but it seems to be cutting it very close. They tell me we will be fine but, I don’t have a warm fuzzy feeling about it.

Kind of in the same boat(no pun intended) NCL arranged air coming into New Orleans at 11:40 for same day cruise. Hoping we don't have delays with a connecting flight. Denver-Houston- New Orleans. I called NCL traval about my concerns but they said no changes could be made.

I also called about my concern, they said no worries I will be fine. ( I am not fine) really worried to tell the truth.

Is your flight non-stop? Is there an earlier flight you could get on? If there is an earlier option then I would arrive early and try to go standby just for peace of mind.

No unfortunately. Have to transfer in charlotte nc from Raleigh. ( I could drive to charlotte in 2 1/2 hours) doesn’t make sense.

Not really.  I had to call NCL's transfer contractor at LAX in December, because the person who was supposed to wait for us at Terminal 7's baggage claim left at 1PM.  Our flight landed at 1PM and it was 1:30PM when we retrieved our checked bag.  Took another 15 minutes to meet up with the transfer agent, another 20 minutes to get to LAX's taxi lot.  Yeah, NCL buses had stopped running already so they put us in a taxi.  At least it was a private transfer.  Arrived at the pier around 2:50PM.  At least there wasn't anyone in the terminal.  By the time we got on the gangway, it was past 3PM and we were the last 2 to get on board.

So, do they know about us?  I'd say yes, since there was another NCL transfer agent at the taxi lot already arranging the ride when we got there.  Did they make any efforts of locating us prior to me calling them?  No.

BTW, it was NCL who booked our flights to arrive at 1PM.

Who did you call? NCL or transfer agent.

You are cutting it awfully close - - - or NCL is cutting it close

That transfer to port is that through NCL directly or the Disney package ?

If NCL - NCL knows of your transfer and arrival at the port and would be expecting you.

Being a little late not a problem

Hopefully there will be other guests taking that same NCL transfer - you will be in good company.

If the transfer is by Disney or other private contractor you may be pushing the stress level.

But should be OK as long as the gangway is still in place to the ship.

    Yes all through ncl

  6. We booked our 1/29 escape cruise thru ncl ( cruise, air, and hotel in Disney 3 days) our plane lands at 11:30 MCO and have a transfer to port which appears to be a 45 minute trip. I am thinking we should be at port around 1pm. Will this give us time to board by 2. Seems pretty tight. What happens if we are delayed and it’s 2:30 and haven’t boarded yet?

You brought up an interesting point, and that is the main reason why, despite having the best cruise/time of my life, I was frought with worry.

My wife had a heart transplant about 1 1/2 years ago.  At that same time, I made arrangements with a group of her friends to go on a "Celebration of Life" cruise.  Somehow, my idiotic reasoning told me that if I made plans far in advance, that she would make it out of this just fine, and I wouldn't lose the woman I've loved for 30 years.  I planned it so far in advance because I assumed that the virus would no longer be a concern by then. WRONG!

Aside from all the general covid worries, I was EXTREMELY concerned about my wife's immune system.  Literally, about 3 days before we were to sail, we checked in with her cardiologist, who gave us his blessing.  In fact, he said something similar to what you just said ~ This might be the safest place for her to be, given that everyone is tested, vaccinated, and masked.  Given that this would be our first time in the "full-fledged" Haven, I thought she was in a great position.

We got back from our wonderful cruising experience (again, shout out to Sthrngary, who answered so many questions in this post), to a voicemail left by her doctor after we had already sailed and returned.  He said ~ The CDC just recommended that even those who are vaccinated should NOT be sailing on a cruise, so he withdrew his approval. Wow!

So glad you enjoyed your cruise and hoping this finds you and your wife in good health.

I guess I typed too soon!  We won an upgrade from a regular balcony cabin to a haven courtyard penthouse with balcony  with a bid slightly above minimum. ($610 per person)  Our cabin is on deck 18, which is the same deck our friends are on.  So yay!

We just received a upgrade as well on escape 1/29 sailing. Also deck 18. Enjoy

  9. For sailings with embarkation dates through and including January 31, 2022, all guests and crew are required to wear masks onboard while indoors, except when actively eating or drinking, or seated at a table in a dining setting, or when in their stateroom. Masks are also required outdoors when physical distancing of at least six (6) feet cannot be maintained.

as far as this read right now, mask must be worn up until 1/31. Haven’t seen anything to the contrary.

but I am sure it will change.
we are sailing 1/29 7 days, so by this we shouldn’t have to wear a mask on 2/1

I am also scheduled on the 1/29 sailing. Had originally placed upgrade bids on the spa balcony and spa mini suite. When cancellations started I canceled my bids figuring with my luck I would get the upgrade and then have that turn into FCC. Would really like to try the spa, but am concerned about the enclosed area with covid. Can't imagine being in a sauna, sweating with others right now. Does anyone else have these concerns or do you feel pretty safe in the area.

We are also on this cruise. I would feel safe but would also social distance.

  11. Read this on ncl cruise site.

we are sailing 1/29/22 7 days. Does this mean guests can go without a mask on 2/1 ? Just something to think about.

I had upgrade offers on Escape and yesterday or the day before they were all cancelled, but I was able to make new ones.  I'm wondering if it had something to do with the two Escape sailings that have been cancelled.  Maybe the upgrade service did something with the wrong week.

Same thing happened to me. Today I was able to make new bids. Have no clue what happened.
