Please tell me you don't have to have a mask on for the photos? That would be a waste of our time. I can understand getting it for the laughs, but you need to be able to have masks off for those photos.

Not sure about right now with changes - maybe someone on a cruise this week can comment, but on ours from 8/7-8/15 you were asked to take it off for pictures by the photographer. The photo backdrops were in public walkway areas and at that time there was no requirement to be masked in those areas like dining and theatres, though it was strongly encouraged (and 99% of people were anyways). So there's that, too.

  2. I like Ben & David - as others have said for the quality of videography and breadth of their exploration on the ships. They are a bit campy, and I tend to only watch a chunk at a time of their long reviews, because they are just that: long. My partner actually didn't catch on for some reason for a while that Been and David were together when we first started watching their videos. 🤣

Tips for Travelers is really good for some down to business reviews and tips. Once in a while I find a few of his tips repetitive in some videos if you have watched quite a few of his other tips videos already. But it's also consistency so if you jump into watching his channel as a novice, you'll still get some of those tips right off the bat. He doesn't initially come across as having LGBT-centered tips, but he will once in a while mention his partner and his preferences in cruises.

JJ Cruise has also been one we have started watching recently.

We got the RU1 deal, so cheers is baked into the fare. This is our first time with cheers and we’d never buy it at regular price as we aren’t big drinkers but the deal was too good.   A glass of wine each evening and a few specialty coffees will break us even easily.

Do they add 18% to each ordered drink based on the menu price?  Or is it a flat 18% on the cheers costs, which in our case is kind of zero. We want to tip well and will do so with cash if that is better, as I’ve heard cash tips aren’t shared.

We just got back from Horizon last week with the RU3 Cheers code, and each receipt we signed already showed gratuity after drink price. It's built into the total charge already, but then a negative charge below since your package already covered it, so you effectively sign a "$0.00" receipt. But you are always welcome to tip beyond the amount they charged you automatically.

  4. I've experienced similar issues on both Carnival cruises my partner and I were on. I distinctly remember the last one, in 2018 on Dream, and the meet up was held at Alchemy with no organization. We thought there was one other couple there, but by the time we had discussed with each other if they were a couple and there for the meet up so we could work up the nerve to approach them, they had already got their drinks and left. It was surprising, since the cruise director was family, so you'd think some more effort and thought would be put into the intentionality of the meetings. There is no real facilitation of the social connections or making friends in these special meet ups it seems.
We are going to be on Horizon for the August 7 sailing, so I guess we'll see what the meet ups are like this time.

Thank you so much.  Good news, I was able to update all my information.  I was surprised to see how much of it was old.  My PVP has up to date info but I wanted it in the system.  Bad news, it would not allow me to update DH information.  He was listed as my travel companion.  I tried several times with no results.  Each time I received a different message about why it couldn't go through.  Such as, wrong birth date (it was correct), required email address (it was there), finally just "something went wrong"!! So then I  tried deleting him and starting fresh.  Got the,  "something went wrong" message again!!  So now he does not show up in that area at all.  Good news is he still shows up on my booking for the 3rd.

Does DH have his own account? Might be able to update his information on his own account the same way and then relink? I've worked with their customer service (few years ago, though) on fixing an account issue and they were very helpful and responsive. So that might also be the next stop if their website isn't being friendly to you.

  6. My tip for the one thing I will do differently for embarkation after my second cruise is make sure to take a deep breath, relax, and find the luggage porter. 😛 We left from New Orleans on Carnival Dream, and once we got out of the Uber drop off at the port and were trying to just get our bearings standing on the sidewalk with our luggage for a minute reading the signs, when one of the employees outside the doors began yelling at everyone to go inside and check in - YES, yelling. I think we were just too flustered by it we hurried inside. So many of us had our bags that would have been taken to our stateroom stuck with us until the rooms were ready. Really limits what you can do once you board.
