Tell them you are going to stay at an all girls school for a week to see if they will like it for next year . . . then drive to the port. 🙂

We want to tell them a few months ahead of the cruise so they have something to look forward to and so we can have their input on what they want to do at the ports.  Thanks anyway, I should have clarified in the original post!

Other than the food, the best part was the Service. Our guide through the food, Elton was fun, and knowledgeable. Elton really brought the meal to life. If you go anytime soon, ask for Elton!

Completely agree with this!  When we we on Harmony, we also had Elton.  Younger DD was not the biggest fan of the appetizers although she loved the shrimp one.  Elton brought out 4 extra shrimps just for her.  He also played a really fun game with older DD where she had to memorize the menu before they were taken away, and each time something new came out, she had to guess what it was.  As she got them all correct, he gave us two of all of the desserts, yum!

Going on the Magic in 2 weeks, was the tour worth the cost $95 ? i really want to do it all though the DW would rather sleep in. Sea day correct?

Yes, it's on the last sea day, and it is definitely worth the money with all you see and all the information you get!  The guy at the shore excursions desk said 98% of the time they have two tours: one at 9 and one at 9:30.  We were able to be switched to the 9:30 one so we could sleep in a little more.  You can try this if you want.

I know the Club 02 experience can change cruise to cruise but my 15 year old daughter's experience was different from most on here.  We just got off the Magic on Saturday.  My daughter is energetic but shy at the same time.  She tried the mixer on the first night and came back to the cabin crying because everyone ignored her and most of the people were very rude and she said they played all rap music (definitely not her favorite.)

We told her to give it a second chance during the day and she said it was a TOTALLY different environment during the day.  In her words, "All the nice people seem to do the daytime activities and they skip the evening activities."

This was pretty much my daughters experience too. However, after the first night where it was all rap and teens ignoring her, she tried a scavenger hunt during the day where the experience was the same.  Glad yours was able to enjoy it during the day!

  5. My daughter unfortunately did not have a good experience with Club O2.  Many of the teens were not the kind of person she "clicks" with, and she mentioned they were "too invested in their phones and social media to actually do anything with."   She also did not enjoy the ambiance of the club as it was playing music that she did not enjoy and was very loud.  However, this was just her and others can have totally different experiences.  Luckily, she happened to meet one girl her age, not through the club, who she had common interests with and enjoyed hanging out with.

  6. Hi!  I'm back! Regarding the rehearsal process, the performers learn the shows in a rehearsal studio in Miami. Once on the ship, the show is "frozen" after the handoff.  Occasionally, they will run small rehearsals in between the two shows if needed.  If the ship is too rocky, they perform a concert version of the show where they all sit on stools and sing the show without dancing.  If the ship's movement is really bad, then the show is cancelled.  In the ambiance and vibe of the tour, I did not feel comfortable asking about the failed ship inspection, sorry.

    Hi, I have two questions

    1. Regarding Carnival Fantasy's failing score, how has Carnival changed fleet wide, primarily on the Breeze, to prevent this from happening again?

    2. How do the actors perform/rehearse on stage in rough weather when the ship isn't fully stable?

    Thank you for doing this!

No problem!  Your second question was answered by PhillyFan33579, and as for rehearsals, they learn the show on land, and rehearsals at sea in rocky conditions would only happen to rehearse a modified version for the conditions.

Make sure your daughter goes to the meet and greet on the first night.  The kids tend to group up on that night, and then start hanging out.  You'll probably want to get her the texting plan on the Hub app ($5 for the whole cruise), so that she can communicate with her new friends.  Overall, I'd give it a somewhat mixed review.  My kids (16, 14, and 8  ) usually love camp.  However, on the last cruise, the girls my oldest daughter met up with at O2 were just not the type she wanted to hang out with, once she got to know them a little better.   Typical teen stuff - That's all I'll say about that!    Soooo....it kind of depends.    The events themselves will be loosely organized, so meeting people is the real goal.   It's definitely worth a try!!!

Yes, we have done the texting feature before and thought it wasn't that great, but are still planning on doing it so we can all communicate.  Totally understand about how your daughter felt (it's why mine stopped doing it), hopefully mine will find the right people this time!

THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!  First night is where they all start to group up.  We have actually switched from late dining to anytime dining, not just for this reason, but to give more flexibility.  It seemed that their first night was always right during our late dinner.

We have late dining and enjoy the set timed dining.  Will this be a large issue the first night?  Could we have DD join us at dinner later, or will that be too much of an issue and annoying for the waitstaff.  Probably the latter?

Thanks to everyone for all the information!  It is much appreciated!

My son has been in Club 02 twice, and next week will be the third time.  My older son was in Club 02 maybe once or twice.  Both enjoyed it.  They tend to use it as a "meet up" and then go from there.  They may stay and do an activity on with the group, but sometimes they would make friends and hang at the pool together.  It was a great place to meet kids their own age.  My older one missed it when he turned 18, there was just no place for him to go at 18, and hung out with us.

We do put in rules about hanging around the ship, and need to know where he will be once leaving Club 02.  There is no going into anyones rooms, etc.

Thanks so much for the information!  As they use it as a "meet up," I will definitely be sure to put similar rules in place, thanks again!  On another note, what are examples of the activities?  Does anyone have pictures of the schedule for Club 02?

  10. I am going on the Breeze this Saturday (yay!) with my fifteen year old.  I was wondering if any of you had/have teens in the 15-17 age range who have used Club 02.  What did they do?  How did it work?  What did they like/not like about it?  General information about it? DD has not used the kids/tween/teen club since she was 8 on any line, but decided she wanted to do it this time so she can make friends on the ship.  Anything about it will be helpful!  Thanks in advance!

  11. We enjoy Carnival, Royal, and NCL.  I do agree the CD has a larger presence on Carnival (which is something we enjoy).  But we still enjoy Royal and NCL as we enjoy their entertainment a lot better (especially as I work in the theatre) and their activities on their newer ships.  When deciding on a line for a cruise, we mainly look at price, itinerary, and what the ship has to offer for the week we are available.

  12. DD (15) and I are planning on doing the Behind the Fun Tour together on the Breeze this summer.  I understand that at the end of there is a small cocktail reception.  As she is too young to have alcoholic drinks and does not drink soda, do you think they will allow her to get a free freshly squeezed OJ, a free specialty tea or coffee, or onboard credit towards the coffee shop instead (one of these, not all three)? Thanks in advance!

My blue card butt 😉 will be on deck 11 for embarkment lunch and steakhouse for dinner and free bottle of wine, figure I will have plenty of other days to try the offerings on Lido when it won't be as busy because people will be eating at all different times.

Don't get the free bottle of wine, it is not a good wine.  Instead, get a significant discount on a bottle of your choice.

Norwegian really does have great suite benefits, versus all other lines.

I would say RC does it best with Star Class, then NCL Haven, then RC Sky Class/Gold Card suites (on ships without Royal Suite Class), then RC Sea class, with Carnival Suites at the bottom.  Hopefully the Excel Suites are good on the Mardi Gras, perks-wise.

  15. The most equivalent to Chops would either be lunch in Cucina del Capitano or Jiji's Asian Kitchen.  Cucina del Capitano is the specialty Italian restaurant that is a $15 up-charge for dinner.  During lunch, it turns into Captain's Pasta Bar.  This is a create your own pasta restaurant where you choose your pasta, protein(s), vegetables(s), etc.  You can also get caesar salad and lasagna.  Jiji's is the Asian specialty restaurant that is a $15 up-charge for dinner.  It is a create your own stir-fry restaurant during lunch known as Mongolian Wok.  These two options are included in your cruise.  For an up-charge, you can go to Bonsai Sushi, which is an a la carte sushi restaurant.  The steakhouse is not open for embarkation lunch.
