  1. Our Breeze sailing for Nov was gone when I logged in last night. Already printed boarding docs, but I'd sure like to be able to see it again.

For the money CCL has available I can't help but think they could divert a little more to the IT department and clean the site up more.

  2. For the last few days I haven't been able to log in at all to the CCL site. I enter the email and password - push the log in button, and nothing happens. I've tried different browsers, cleared cookies, history and cache.

I can access the booking on my phone, but can't get anything on the computer. Anyone else? Any other suggestions other than a different browser and clearing things out?

  3. Sure! Or photos, or drinks, or spa, or specialty dinning, or the gift shop, or excursions, or...

I think though that bingo is cash because they pay it out on the spot. Then again I seem to remember someone doing S&S cards near the stage last trip. Maybe there is enough cash in the pool for the payout and the house gets the S&S money? But ultimately, your $50 won't last long anyway :)

  4. Different perspective... hopefully way off base and completely wrong!!!

Is there a number on this certificate that you can call to get some more information? Carnival regularly gives discounted (and sometimes free) cruises to people in the Players Club. All of that though is done directly on the CCL site.

Was it from some other casino? Since it would be their first cruise it isn't Players Club. Any idea why a different casino would send them someplace to gamble other than their own tables? Something seems a little off. A choice between 3-14 days?

I'm always a little cautious of thing that sound too good to be true... and a free Journey's Cruise in a balcony kinda falls into that category.

  5. The bottom of the second link above covers your texting concerns. Free in, $.50 out.

One thing to consider, with the social media plan you are restricted to the sites that you can access. Facebook is a go...email is not.

If you bump up a level and do the value package for service, you get the social media stuff, but more importantly 'internet access.' You'll need that level of access to get to your email. With that, you'll also get access to your iMessage version of texting. If a non-iPhone user texts you, then the link above applies, if the sender is an iPhone user, then it should go through the internet service (wifi) as opposed to the cellular service.

  6. All indications from the CCL site are that there is no gratuity with that extra pass.

For guests who do not purchase a Spa Stateroom but would like to use the Thalassotherapy Pool and Thermal Suite, we offer day and week long passes that can be purchased on board at the Cloud 9 Spa.

    · Daily Pass: $40 per guest

    · Passes for Cruise Duration:

    Ø 6-day cruise: $139 per guest / $239 per couple

    Ø 7-day cruise: $149 per guest / $249 per couple

    Ø 8-day cruise: $159 per guest / $268 per couple

  7. Just wondering - but is this double listing maybe part of the way they were doing shows of having the same show on two different nights at different times to accommodate different schedules?

JH mentioned that they are going back to having the same shows twice a night like they used to have it. Wonder if that might then change it to being shown twice in one night...

Our last cruise we went to one, maybe two shows. That wasn't the norm for us since we usually make a point to go every night. All in all though, I have to say that we really enjoyed just finding other things to do. I'm not complaining that the shows were bad, we didn't even try them.

  8. A long embarkation can be a slow way to get your vacation started for sure. Things happen though that can cause all sort of different delays.

For others getting ready to board the Conquest - my wife actually bought a jacket in the gift shop because she was too cold both at dinner and in the show room. We didn't really spend a lot of time in the casino so not too sure about that. Even in our cooler dinning room, the waiters were hot - mainly because they were providing such great service to so many people and were always on the go.

Hopefully as you get a little further away from the long day at embarkation and the overall vacation you can find the good in spending 8 days on vacation and that will outweigh those issues.

  9. Not to muddy the water at all...

Remember that your booked rate needs to be over $320 less than the posted rate in order to be able to get any relief from this. On our Breeze sailing, even the fare is higher after I subtract the "free" on board credit they are offering.

    For example -

    Currently our booking is $2209.80 w/$240 in OBC= $1969.80

    We booked at $1959.80 (and got a $50OBC sale!)= 1909.80

In order for us to get the $240 in "FREE" OBC we'd have to spend an extra $60 in our fare which of course wouldn't make sense. Hopefully this post does :). Accounting for the OBC, our previous rate was still lower than what we currently have access to. Your sailing of course may be different, and hopefully it is!

  10. When we booked are cruise through a PVP she was very clear about that three of four times in our conversation. She mentioned how it was great that the deposit was lower, but any price drops would require the remainder of the deposit in order to claim them. As above, if there was a similar deal with reduced deposits then it would work. Since those aren't always around the 'norm' would be that you'd have to cover the rest of the depo first.

I didn't even check fares until we paid the depo in full.

  11. HI Cruisers, Does anyone know of any discount codes for carnival excursions?

The only discount I came across was I believe 10%. It came up on the site when I processed my final payment. The 'catch' was that you had to book something in every port in order to be eligible . Guess that isn't really a catch, but wasn't something we were interested in at the time.

Alternatively, using the various 10% discount gift card sites will yield similar results.

  12. What happens if you purchase these cards and then decide to cancel your cruise. Do you get your money back for the cards, or can you use them for something else?

These cards are like any other gift cards you might buy for say Olive Garden or Target. While I don't know for sure how long the value remains on the cards, once it is bought you can't return it. The upside is that like Target or Olive Garden, if you decide to not use it now, you can of course use it later.

  13. One 'easy' way to do this with beer/wine/champagne from the room is to get a bucket from the Lido bar. They have the cheap white plastic buckets there that you can get when you order a bucket of beer, or just ask them and they will give you one.

Your steward will fill that for you if you bring it back to the room. Or, you can get it filled with ice at a lido bar, or just use a cup from the lido buffet drink stations. Took a bottle of champagne and a reusable water bottle we brought from home. Filled the water bottle with the morning juice (using a separate clean cup, not the bottle directly ), set that bottle and champagne in the white bucket, filled the bucket with ice from buffet... found a great spot on Lido for mimosa refills all morning long :D

  14. K2, curious why you like the coves, (cat 7C ?), they seem to have a much smaller viewing area than a regular cat 8 balcony. And several decks down on deck 2 so less distance viewing.

I'd agree with all of the above. The "cut outs" really aren't an issue with the coves. I can see where based on pictures it may seem that way (and I guess really it is :) ) but it doesn't outweigh the upsides for us.

As for the distance, being lower really doesn't reduce your sight range by anything noticeable. The plexiglass vs steel hull to me isn't too much of a difference either. It seems that the glass was always covered in sea spray and clouded and not much to see through anyway. We didn't have any issues in the cove being able to sit in the chair and see out over the railings at the islands sailing in and out.

They aren't designed for sun bathing by any stretch!

Feeling the spray on your face if you stick your head out far enough at full cruising speed at night is pretty cool. It's nice to see the ocean when you stand at the rail, not the hot tubs or life boats.

  15. If your tour provider has the details of your ship, they will adjust accordingly. In all likelihood you aren't the only one on that sailing looking to do that excursion. Of course they won't wait forever, but the do allow some flexibility.

One addition to the time zone comment... Grand Cayman is actually in the central timezone and they don't do the whole daylight saving time thing. While we won't be in DST in December, it can increase the confusion as to what local time is compared to ships time. All in all, if they know you are on the Breeze, they will know when the excursion should leave. And no, CCL won't be overly eager to help because they are trying to get their "paying" guests serviced first.

  16. SOOOO OP.... Need something to do with your layover? On the day we got of last November, I put a coin of some sort on top of the lights above the mirror in the mens room - lido aft. Seems like it was aft of the restaurant and before the pool. Wondering if it is still there. On the right side, closest to the door, on the top of the bar the lights screw in to...

Why you may ask?? We were originally planning to be back on this November with the kids, but ended up changing our plans so we won't be able to retrieve it. Just board waiting for our number to be called and wasting some time. If you get a chance and it happens to still be there I'd be curious!

  17. This article is confusing... Isn't Half Moon a private island for them? I guess the article goes on to say that some ships stop there but they don't own it.

Anyway, it looks like they are talking about something other than the shopping malls we have become accustomed. It seems like it is looking to be a full port as opposed to just a shopping district. Of course they will have that same shopping district on this potential island too.

We tend to avoid cruises to the Bahamas but would reconsider it with a full port with beach, etc. Having stopped at Half Moon in the past, the private cabana was an experience I would certainly repeat!

  18. The shop in MCO really is just more of the books and magazines and I really doubt you'll find much for sunscreen there. At the port you don't really have anything either so onboard is probably your easiest option. Yes it'll be more, but consider the hassle of the other options too...

What I'm most curious about is how you are going to be going on a cruise without any sort of checked baggage on the airline! :D
