They didn't scan his card because they can see and check off everyone in the same room as present once one person's S&S is scanned.  Saves times scanning the card of the everyone in the cabin.

Why did they still flag you as not present?  Because Carnival's IT blows.

Yeah, it was weird. I’m just glad they didn’t make me sit through it again. 😉

I hate the waiting too and the calling of names.  I think it should start on time and that the S&S cards of everyone absent should be frozen.

If your method still gets you there on time, go for it.

I also hate waiting and head to my muster station when the drill is announced.
On my last cruise in November I went to the muster station. They scanned my card, asked if my DH was with me (he was standing right behind me) and let us through. They did not scan his card. After about 15 minutes they started calling out names of people and if your name was called you were supposed to wave your arms and get their attention. Mine was called and I waved. When we got back to our room after dinner there was a sheet on our bed with muster instructions since it said I skipped the muster drill. Um, no I didn’t! They even scanned my card! Nothing for DH, who did not get his card scanned. It was weird.

  3. I was on it in November and two of the days were quite rocky. I didn’t notice it too much until I tried to sleep. A couple of times I felt like I was going to catapult out of bed. We were in room M30.

People were saying that a stabilizer was down and wasn’t going to be fixed until the dry dock this spring.

I was on the Paradise a few years ago and we had some slight movement but nothing like we experienced on the Elation. Didn’t ruin my trip or anything but didn’t sleep as well as I usually do on a cruise ship.

  4. We were on the cruise before yours and we had Brad from Orlando and I think it was his first time as cruise director. If he wouldn’t sign on with an obnoxious “Yeah Boi!!!” He would’ve been okay but that really got on my nerves. Jen was on our ship too but we never heard from her, I only know this because Brad and Jen and some other carnival workers were at the table next to us in the Imagination dining room on the last night at sea.

I’m sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant the online Fun Shops. To purchase ahead to be placed in cabin. I did forget to mention that after that cruise in 2007, somebody told me about an online drugstore in Florida that delivered items ordered online directly to your cabin. I can’t remember the name, nor if it still is in affect, or even allowed. The OP may want to investigate that option.

Oh, gotcha! I’ve never ordered anything to be delivered to my room so I completely forgot about that option. It would be really nice if Carnival had that option—especially for people who fly in. Diapers take up a lot of space in a suitcase. If they are staying in a hotel the night before the cruise and don’t have a rental car another option would be to have diapers and other necessities delivered via Instacart. We just did that for our wine and soda. We left out of Port Canaveral and used GoPort for transportation so we just had four bottles of wine and four 12 packs of soda delivered about an hour before our shuttle picked us up in the morning. It worked like a charm!

Does anyone know if they are offered in Fun Shops? They were not when we took our granddaughter.

That’s where I saw them, on a four way display where the feminine hygiene products were. I guess in reading my previous post it may have sounded like I saw them in a gift shop at one of the ports, but it was at the Fun Shop.

How many people will a cart carry, are there different sizes?

We rented a four seater cart. I know there were some six seaters available although I’m not sure which company rented them. The thing I liked about golf cart versus Jeep was that we could only go so fast so didn’t feel pressured to keep up with the locals and other drivers would just wait until they could pass us and would give us big smiles and wave at us.

  8. We just got off the elation today. Most things were great! The singers in the shows were not good...very off key on every song in the Divas show but one song. We didn’t go back for any other Playlist productions. I was okay with that because I’ve seen them all before. If they have the same comedians, check out the comedy show labeled Booger Baby. That guy was hilarious. The other guy was meh. The ship was very rocky two of the nights. I felt like I was going to be catapulted out of bed Thursday night.

Can you give me their contact information please?  Also how much did it cost and finally did you have to prepay.  Thanks and enjoy your cruise😎

I booked through the website www.wetmoneyent.com and with tax it was $118. We did prepay for it and I printed out the receipt and will bring it with next Thursday. We have two ships in port that day and wanted to make sure we got one.

I’ve emailed and sent a text to this rental company concerning a golf cart rental for Nov. 18th, so far no response.  Is this common for them not to respond?  There will be two ships in port that day and I wanted to be sure we had a golf cart secured for the day.

    Thanks...

I rented directly through their website. I made sure to print off the receipt and correspondence. I’ll be there next Thursday so hopefully everything will go smoothly.

  11. We had two balcony rooms on the Glory in February. The website cruisinangel2 posted showed that ours were not connecting balconies but we figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask the steward. He called maintenance and they came and removed the entire partition while we were still unpacking. It was really nice because there were no obstructions in between our balconies and it was quite roomy.

Sounds fabulous! I can’t wait! I do know the Super Bowl usually starts at 6-6:30, so I guess we will be missing dinner in MDR. Unless just my daughter and grandchildren go with me to dinner, and we leave the men to fend for themselves in front of the game. I suppose we could just grab off buffet and bring it out to game. We will just play it by ear. 😎🛳🌴🏖🍹🍷🍸

We were on the Glory last year during the Super Bowl and it was on the Lido screen, in the theater, and in the sports bars. The MDR was not as full that day and we seemed to get faster service as a result so we got to see most of it in the theater.

We have anytime dining but usually find a waiter we like and then request them each night, even though we might have to wait a little.   Has anyone has a great one that we should ask for?

Someone on an Elation page on Facebook said they had excellent service in Milovan’s section for ATD. Moises and Danang were also part of the serving team.

  14. I’ve been to Tropicante, it’s a great place! You could try Jack’s Shack in Grand Turk for kind of a similar vibe. Just go left off the pier and you’ll see it before you hit the industrial pier, probably about a 10 minute walk. Chairs are free and I think umbrellas were $10.

Amber Cove doesn’t have a nice beach nearby but the port has a free swimming pool and lots of things to do. Chairs are free and I think an umbrella is around $20. You can get food/drinks brought to you and although it isn’t cheap it is cheaper than taking everyone on an excursion.

Walk around Old San Juan or take the free trolley. Admission to the forts is inexpensive. Check out the cool cemetery next to El Morro (one of the forts). If they have the umbrellas back up near the governor’s mansion there is a great photo op. My kids loves stopping at Chocobar Cortez for authentic Puerto Rican hot chocolate (they put a piece of cheese in it! Surprisingly tasty!) and pasties.

The cable car to paradise point in St. Thomas was neat and it was actually cheaper to book it through Carnival. I think it was $20 for adults and $15 for kids when I went last February. We didn’t do much else in St. Thomas as there were 6 or 7 ships in port that day. We did have a delicious lunch at The Smoking Rooster.

Have fun on your trip! My favorite ports were San Juan (very interesting) and Grand Turk (very relaxing).

Thank you, Stacie.  Carnival needs to update their website.  🙂

I agree! We were on the Glory in February and were rather disappointed to see there wasn’t a hot tub there. We did end up using the hot tubs back by the pizza place as they were adults only and not as crowded so it wasn’t too bad. The hot tub in the serenity area was so cold and windy at night. We like to soak in the hot tubs after the evening show before we head to bed.
