I booked the YC well over a year ago for Oct. 2019 . I couldn't resist the price which was so much better than NCL haven. The Meravighlia looks beautiful but next years pricing may not work for us in the future.

Are you by chance on the 10/8?   We booked it June 2018 as soon as I heard about it and  it was something around 2750 each. Then we got status matched to Black which gave us 5% and then 15% as it is a select voyage. Price pp went down to ~2300.

I always check for price drops periodically and noticed one time as we got closer to the date that YC deluxe suite was sold out but I could get an YC interior for close to 3000 pp.  Crazy pricing.

  2. I read somewhere that MSC realized that the Haven people saw how much cheaper the YC is, I being one of them, and because people were booking YC, raised their prices accordingly. We are on MSC to Canada this October in YC Deluxe Suite. I paid around 2400 pp. I checked for same ship, almost same day and same itinerary for 2020 and it was doubled. This is probably going to be a one and done for us on MSC and I’m sorry about that because I loved the idea of the YC. We are already priced out of the Haven for my taste but I wonder if this is happening because of ex NCL moving over to MSC. Just saying🤔

We are platinum plus with NCL so we get a few free specialty dinners ever cruise.  In addition, we always take the Specialty Dining perk as one of our selections.  So on a 7 day cruise we took in May, we wound up with 5 nights/dinners at one of their specialty restaurants.  Cagney's is their steakhouse.  It is ala carte pricing, but with the SDP, you are covered for 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert per person.  We chose the SDP as a perk, and paid 18% gratuity on the cost of the package.  Fine.

So we go to Cagney's and my wife and I both order Shrimp Cocktail for an appetizer.  We are informed that there is an up charge, above the SDP package plus gratuity we already paid for of $3.99 for Shrimp Cocktail.  I ask when did this start and they say a few months ago.  Obviously we both say fine, it's $4 for what we want, who is going to say no on vacation.  The bill comes at the end, and the charge is for $9.44.  We are both charged the $3.99 plus an 18% gratuity on the shrimp cocktail.  So I ask why, and they say that is the standard pricing.  So let me get this straight...if we ordered any of the other 10 appetizers on the menu, no gratuity fee to deliver the plate from the kitchen to our table.  But because we ordered the one that was an upcharge of $4, you add in 18% tip on that one item?  Did it take any more work to bring it from the kitchen to our table?  Obviously, we paid the bill, added in a cash tip for our waiter who was just doing her job and following what she was told to do, and 100% not her fault.  But it annoyed the hell out of me.

And that is basically what NCL has become.  Any place they can squeeze a penny out of you, they will.

We too are P+ (17 cruises) and have decided to leave NCL, the only line we have ever cruised on.  I have always ordered the shrimp cocktail whenever I ate at Cagney’s which was usually twice per cruise.  On my last cruise this past April, the upcharge was $4.99 plus a 20% gratuity which would bring it up to ~$6.00.  I didn’t order it because I felt that as P+ we should have been exempted from the charge and I refused to give them any more money than I already have.

If three shrimp on a bed of lettuce with some cocktail sauce is worth more than a loyal customer’s repeat business (Haven the last 5 or 6), I guess it’s time to go.  I have booked MSC and Princess already and looking for more on Princess with their free drinks package, which by the way, includes their 18% gratuity unlike NCL where they make you pay 20% upfront.

    I’m with you MrMike45

  4. I agree.  I contacted my PCC to cancel my reduced air fare promo on Monday since I was able to book my direct flight on Super Bowl Weekend. After reading some of the horror stories about “Free or reduced air fare” where people still don’t have their flight info 2 weeks before their cruise, I was done. So today I checked and still have it on my reservation. Apparently they know how to constantly call you to book but when you need them to take care of something, it’s the same excuse that they updated their system and there is a glitch in it so we have to be patient. Yup, here I come MSC and Princess because apparently being Platinum Plus means nothing to NCL.

  5. We have exclusively sailed with NCL since 2010 and are now Platinum Plus, however their pettiness has put me over the top. Apparently loyalty doesn’t matter to them and between their raising their DSC every year and now limiting our Platinum meals, it’s a wonder why more of us aren’t leaving?  I have MSC and Princess now booked and have decided enough is enough with NCL. At some point in the future maybe they will care, but I doubt it. This is just MY opinion with the hope that maybe, just maybe, they will appreciate those of us who were loyal back when they cared about us, the passengers and not how much money they could make off of us. $1.20 really? How insulting.

  6. My upcoming TA had a price drop of $450 pp after final payment.  I just texted my PCC about the price drop and next morning he texted me that I got a $225 OBC. I didn’t need an upgrade as we are in a mini suite already and like to choose my own suite location.

Thanks for finding those pics.  Hopefully, I will be able to get some that are not as dark. I do see a space at the top of the glass for fresh air. Glass will keep wind down and make balcony more user friendly?

I had the same reservations you had regarding the wind on forward facing balcony but can’t find anyone’s experience with it and only found these old photos. I’m sure it’ll keep the wind off of us but what’s the wind sounds?  Will it be noisy inside while sleeping😬? Glad you will be kind enough to report back to us. Thanks!

We are booked on 15004 on the Meraviglia for March 14th sailing. (Western Mediterrean)  These are Yacht Club Suites.

It is not the exact center but one over. I have seen pics with the partial glass on bottom part, and open at very top.  I booked for the views as we come into the ports.

Will post pics and reviews when we return.

We have 15001 on Meraviglia October and are happy to see your pics.  I found some on google but very dark.  I think it is 15003.

Would love to travel MSC but we are cruising on free and reduced casino cabins right now.

A friend of mine always sails with either free or very low casino fares. She sails NCL and Princess mostly but was able to book MSC Seaside YC deluxe suite for her and husband for around 1500 for both. Still cheaper than what I am paying.
