I also got excited when I saw Constellation was enroute to Cadiz. We were very disappointed that the revolution refit didn’t take place and are debating whether to make final payment next month for our November ABC cruise. It is a lift and shift from Nov 20 and has all 4 legacy perks from the now defunct Go Best program so it is a difficult decision.

    We’re in the same quandary

  2. We booked a Corner Family Veranda for 11/2020.  When we L n S to 11/ 2021, the designation was changed to

Family Oceanview guarantee.  Yes we called our TA and assured us we had an FV guarantee.

At this point we don’t want to go; we have a NRD and don’t trust them to honor our FV anyway.

when is final payment due; any chance we’ll get NRD back?
The mask possibility and other changes pushed us to not go.

I remember multiple conversations about Caymus wine, we’ve been on many cruises and I haven’t been able to part with my $$ but now I get it.  I celebrated getting my second vaccine with a bottle, finally tried it last night, it’s fantastic.  Since we haven’t been spending our money on dining out I thought I would splurge and I’m glad I did.  I know that an expensive bottle of wine doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better but I really enjoyed it.  I toasted to new beginnings (my husband quit drinking so I had the entire bottle to myself,  yay me), health and happiness and hopefully to cruising next year.

We love Caymus, too.  Any year is good, but we find 2018 superb.

The other day someone locally suggested that CVS had appointment times you checked their web site.  Probably not true at the moment.  But perhaps something will open up next week?    I haven’t tried yet as I don’t qualify yet.

I received an ‘invitation’ to schedule an appt. from Lahey. Had a choice of dates. Today

To be honest it probably does not matter that much because it 6 to 12 months it will probably be time for a booster.  Maybe as early as 6 months because of variants, not because the initial shots will wear off that soon.

I was thinking this.  Then we start over with jockeying for shots. After my second Moderna shot, I thought thank god this is over. I had all the side effects for at least a week. Even Covid arm.  Don’t really want them again.

Did they recommend any pre-medication or post-medication? I'm curious because when I got my second shot in early January, pre and post meds were being recommended, but now the CDC is very cagey about this issue, because of concerns with the meds somehow lessening the immune response to the vaccine. There's no data, so CDC is acting out of caution. They recommend (at least last week) taking meds if and when you become symptomatic. I was glad to have some reaction, I felt reassured that I developed some immunity.

I still have side effects. Mainly fatigue. Then I read here I have Covid arm, too.

But on the bright side I just read a strong reaction means more antibodies.

First dose boot camp, second dose war games. I have a strong immune system; it’s fighting off intruders. Making more soldiers.

No meds unless necessary. Took some after 24 hours of high temp

    Hope you feel better soon!

Did you tolerate the 1st shot okay..?

Our friend with Covid arm  registered for a tracking study so she was able to report her issue.  Doing better now!

Can anyone simply go over how reactions are being tracked and how this might help refinements.? At a certain level we are all the guinea pigs/ lab rats

Thank you. I’m getting better daily, but still have fatigue. Crash early.  I am tracked by vsafe daily.

by reading your post, I realize I have Covid arm, too!,,  Jeez. What next.

The first dose I only had a sore arm.

If you were given the first shot in Fla  and they registered you,  today's news  reports said you will get shot no 2 without any proof of residency.  Rules requiring proof apply to new appts.  Check the news

Maybe you should  check with Publix or County where you got the shot..hang on to your  1st shot vacination card..ours has our next appt right on the back side,

I read the rules after I posted but we did not have a written second appt. Now I read the second dose is ‘if available’.   Very fluid situation.
Hoping they don’t mix n match manufacturers.

So many are piling into Florida now that the State has  imposed  a residency req,

Any new appts will only be given to those who are  fulll time or  bona fide seasonal (Snowbird) residents. Proof will be required.

We have proof of home ownership, car regis, local  utility bills, etc.but for the second shot, not required as I understand the rules. Hope we get the vaccine on date promised and  big gov does not get in the way! Counting down til then.

Hopefully, folks will start seeing greater distribution by states  in coming days so no need to cross borders.  Good luck to all of us!

I was wondering about the second shot. We are here for a couple months. Arrived Dec 28 with NO expectation of a Covid vaccination.  Felt extremely fortunate whe we received one at Publix beginning of Jan. I hope I get the next one, but don’t know the rules now.

Folks here is a great link to a complete vaccine Q&A published in NE J of Medicine.  Includes most everything that we have been discussing on this thread- and then some!

You are in Calvert County? And is it Anne Arundel that you are referring to?  My daughter is in group 1B for AA county (school teacher) and registration has just opened for that group.  Seniors 75+ are included in 1B.

For anyone who has been suggesting that I need to expand my horizons to find a vaccine here in Florida, let me explain where my posts are coming from.

I live in Citrus County and therefore I have boots on the ground information about the vaccine efforts here in the county. That is what I am posting about.

However, my effects to find vaccines for my husband and I are not limited to Citrus County. We have given ourselves a travel time of  four hours which means basically anywhere in the state or southern Georgia (yes, I do have an ethical problem with traveling to another state to take a vaccine).  We have just not been successful yet and it is not for lack of trying.

The four hours do have geographical limitations as four hours west puts us in the Gulf of Mexico  and four hours east in the Atlantic Ocean. 😄

Lake county still taking appts as of this am.

Oh I agree that it is not working well in our area when dealing with the gov't. health dept.  I never heard back from them and I called a couple of weeks ago to make an appointment.  I was only speaking of my positive experience with Publix.  The pilot which started in our 3 counties on the west central coast has now been expanded to the panhandle.

My Publix experience went the same as yours. Kudos.  My brother n sister got in with Fl health no problem. Persistence is the key.

News stories last night that the Florida state level ineptitude continues. Florida has a million doses that still have not been released by the state to the local jurisdictions.

Tap dancing was done by the top level state  leader that those doses were held back second doses. However, a check on this was made at the federal level and those doses are first dose vaccines.

Meanwhile, there is growing anger at the fact that non Florida residents are allowed to obtain the vaccine.

My husband and I are resigned to the fact that there is no local effort to have a workable system of appointments and that it may be several months before we will be vaccinated. We are in the group that is suppose to be receiving the vaccine now.

There is a workable system in Fl. You have to read up on what’s going on, sign up for updates from any board of health.  Making an appt by phone is decent, now.

    persistence is the key.

    keep trying!

Got our 1st dose of Moderna today at a local hospital in Arcadia Fl ( historic cowboy town) It is located away from major tourist and retirement communities and we had  to drive a bit over 1 hr..,..We had a place  near there in the 80/90s when we first started visiting Florida.

The process was very well organized.. we booked via phone call, had info numbers to call with any questions.  They kept to the schedule, had wonderful staff, assist from local law ofcrs, good med supervision.  Easy parking!

We are very lucky!  Kudos to DeSoto Memorial Hospital....great model of how to get it right. Our next dose is on reserve..hope we can stop at the strawberry farm along the way!

Are they actually reserving your second dose? I got my first Moderna a week ago, but then told us they would call.  My sister has an appt to return.

Here in North Carolina there is also too much red tape.

In order to apply for the vaccine we are required to call our county Health Department and give them our names and email addresses.  They then have to send this information to the state.  The state then is supposed to email us an application.  We then have to complete the application (I believe on a State sponsored website.)  Then we have to call our county Health Department back and request an appointment for the injection.  It appears the entire process can take over a week to merely obtain an appointment for a vaccination!

In Fl they post online when to go online and make an appt. pretty easy.

Not so good when they post first come, first served at various locations.

Yay!  I am wondering under this system if you are able to make a follow up appointment right then and there for your second shot or do you have to fight for another online appointment later?

    M

Follow up. We received a call from Publix today wanting to know how we were feeling. I asked about the second dose and was told they would call us.
