Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. When I spoke with Cunard a week or so ago they said there was no time scale for cancellation. We are booked for Singapore to Southampton and are on the verge of cancelling. We've been round the bottom of Africa before and have visited all the places it will be stopping at. So, whilst our cruise cost represents good 'value', particularly now with the OB spend and FCC, it just doesn't feel as exciting as a holiday should be.
  2. OK. Probably worth a call to Cunard to check as to whether you can cancel or not as I was led to believe that it was an option (of course the loss of the onboard and future cruise credits need to be factored in if one does cancel). Still seems to be a bit of confusion around whilst Cunard assesses how full the boat will be on the reroute. Would be interested to know if many World Cruisers have changed plans given that QM2 is coming back on the same route she went (e.g. will many get off the boat in Australia, Hong Kong or Singapore.
  3. Hi @DeanUU - is that from the original 'minimum bid' mail that was sent out a few weeks ago (i.e. before the reroute)? If so, they may be redundant now. When I spoke to Cunard last week their operative said that this bid programme had been frozen whilst they assess demand for the new route. If it is a new 'bid' programme I'm wondering why I haven't received a new mail. Of course, your logic is sound if your mail does represent an updated bid programme - why not cancel and rebook on the late saver fare?!
  4. The offer of a free transfer to QA is interesting (it is deadline day after all!) - what leg are you booked on @KJR999 ?
  5. I did preface with '....depends what segment you're on...'. According to the calculation for FCC, 75% of the Singapore - Soton segment is affected so the offer of full refund seems entirely reasonable. Hong Kong - Soton a bit more moot but I would think there is still a good case. The Australia - Soton segment or the full World Cruise itself must lend themselves to some interesting refund/compensation discussions. I'm loath to feel too sorry for Cunard as a) they have probably got some sort of insurance to cover this - sure their premiums will sky rocket going forward but, for now, I'd be surprised if they're not covered, and, b) some of the fortunes they must have earned on drinks in the past will soften their blow.
  6. Probably depends which segment you're on but I yesterday contacted Cunard to further assess our options. We're booked on the Singapore to Southampton segment and, should we wish to do so, we would be able to get a full refund from Cunard if we cancelled completely.
  7. Would be interested to learn what is being said on the situation to those currently on the World Cruise?
