I find it is real easy to buy and it goes on your S&S card, so my expenses were deoderant in the gift shop since hubby forgot his, bingo, slot tournament fee, and the going aboard picture.  Then liquor to bring home because the gift shop had a sale and then I realized that cigarettes were so much cheaper on board than at home so I added those to my account as well.   Spent more than I had planned, but now I know for the next time! 

the price of the cheers package does not change.  The only difference you will see is if you buy it when you get on Board, it is more expensive than if you buy it ahead of time online.  It does not fluctuate and there are no "sales" for the cheers package.

Thank you all for the information.   I usually bring cash for gambling, but i think buying the gift cards is now the way to go, since I get a discount on the gift cards.   I appreciate the responses!

can i apply the gift cards to my account prior to sailing?  Or do i have to do it once on board?  And then if I fund my Players Bank from my S&S account will increase the hold on my credit card?

I saw on John Heald's page, someone mentioned that the buy gift cards and use in the casino.  Can that be done?  If so can someone enlighten me?  I would love to buy discounted gift cards to use in the casino if you really can.

I received an email with an upgrade offer to go from inside cabin on Deck 6, to Oceanview on Dec 2 for $85.   I turned down the offer because I didn't want to go to a lower deck since we are a group and all are on deck 6.

Any chance I might receive another upgrade offer, or do you only get one offer per cruise?  Just curious....

I don't understand why you think there are only short cruises out of Charleston, we are going to Bermuda on the Sunshine for 6 nights in September.   They also offered one for 7 nights.
